If it is to be continued next season then L1/L2 clubs needs to come together and refuse to play in it. If there's enough what are they going to do? Even for the clubs that have voted in favour of this must be thinking what's the point with the crowds as low as they are.

I am interested to see what kind of away following travels when we play the u23's away from home. We've got Derby. I bet about 400 twats will end up going to that

The premier league just use their trump card which is: "If you don't do as we say we'll cut our subsidies"

EFL needs to get better at marketing itself. More people support EFL teams, and attend EFL matches than the premier league... There has to be more cash in it than Channel 5

...but yet, it can't get a sponsor for the League Cup. Something is fundamentally wrong.

I notice dale have reduced their ticket price to a fiver.

Am abit worried there is more to this comp than a trial when clubs who moaned about making losses are openly happy to make enormous losses this season (£5 instead of usual £10/15 admission)

Why are clubs desperate to keep 1200 going at a fiver than 800 going at a tenner and just accepting its a mistake

Only if they win.

Gillingham and Oldham for example made big losses, only has really 600 proper paying fans, infact maybe only 400 fans at the normal 20 quid price considering the 1200 odd were paying just £5 or £1

Considering the entire basis of this is to making money it doesn't add up

I don't think the clubs looked at as losing matches, they are greedy owners, they would have seen the increased prize money and dollar signs light up and they vote yes.

Just look at the current Efl letter that is out for the whole game solution it specifically mentions about clubs being no worse off financially despite reduced fixtures.

All they care about is money. If the prem league offer more money down then to hell with what the fans think as the extra money off sets those that don't turn up and if they stay the same then even better.

we've sold 37 tickets today on release day for our game vs readings yoof.
Can't imagine we've had first day sales that low for a competitive game before.

1184 at Rochdale v Sunderland u23s tonight. Seems most clubs die hard never miss a game types can't face missing these either. Interesting to read the tweets of Accrigton owner on Twitter.

Because I'm an old fart I don't understand Twitter - but he's been very vocal about his dislike for this competition since it was announced. He voted against it which I was very happy about.

just how it's done at fratton normally I suppose. usually buying on the day means joining huge queues and missing the start of the game. may be people buying thier usual seat as well. not planning on attending anyway so who knows

So half the revenue then, because tickets everywhere were a fiver.

If you've got 800 in paying a fiver , against 1600 in paying a tenner , you can sell them 800 drinks and food etc ... assuming at a tenner you would only get 400 in not buying 2 drinks ! ..... my brain hurts !

Considering they wanted to revamp it to increase attendances they've not done a very good job.

Could you maybe try that again only see if you can make sense this time.

It sounds like you're suggesting that if you reduce ticket prices and get more in (although you worded it as though reducing ticket prices should get less in) you'll have more people in the stadium and because they spent less money getting in then they would spend more on food and drink once in there.

Not sure whether people are buying as much food/drink for a Tuesday night match though

That's pretry much what I said using fewer words .....obviously the words I left out were quite important to my point ..... on your food eating Tuesday / Saturday question ....I reckon a few people go straight to a Tuesday game from work and haven't had any tea so they may well spend more .......if I've left any words out there , find them yer self! !

Let's face it, we all seem to have a strange core support who would sell their soul to the devil's Aunt Maude to see their shit level football club play in a meaningless kickabout amongst the stiffs. I hope the moral fibreless lot spill their Bovril's down the groin of their white jeans.

So do we; if you ever see a Sky Sports feature on travelling Carlisle support (and they seem to do these regularly, last time it was when we had Plymouth on a Tuesday night last season), it's mostly the same people who will be travelling to these games, and who will accuse anyone giving them a swerve of not being true supporters. Not everyone on that coach to Plymouth falls into that category, but the hardcore would definitely have been central to it.
