Accrington Stanley
Accrington (a club with small attendances anyway) having to travel all the way to Wolverhampton (quite a distance) to play a reserve team (and not even a premiership one) with nothing to play for (assuming Accy also lose to Chesterfield). If any attendance is going to be 0 I'd think it would be away fans at that one.
Even some of our crazy people who never miss a match are sacking that wolves game off...

There will be a few ' dead rubber ' games at the end .....given that reds only count for this competition , I can see a lot of sending offs in the last 10 mins of the second games ...why risk injury in a totally pointless game ?

Do the Stevenage fans all hate each other. Why are they sitting so far apart from each other?
As a comparison we took about 5 times as many fans to Brisbane Ward for a first round JPT match in 12/13 and the home Orient attendance was 3 times larger IIRC.

We've now port vale and derby under 23s away. The concept of both ties in this competition is non-existent. I genuinely hope nobody bothers at all for these 2 games.

I also don't buy into the fact you've got to play a set amount of first teamers - it's surely Upto the manager who he does and doesn't play

As a literature student I deem it acceptable for me to boycott language whenever I see fit.

Is that okae with u?
'You are sacrifices' seems quite apt for this thread considering

Well I'm very disappointed with the attendance at Home Park. Although we are down 60 - 70% from last season and it's our second lowest attendance ever in the competition, it was still 2000 too many.

I think a large proportion of the crowd were 'kids for a quid' so parents could have a cheap evening out with adult tickets cheap too. It's a shame because apparently we played some great football last night. How many of the kids that cost a quid will be there come Saturday though??

oh my life we scored 3 ACTUAL GOALS.

It's quite possible that Northampton just couldn't be arsed, so I'm not going to get carried away by our first convincing win of the season. That said, Northampton had billed tonight as a chance for some of their fringe players to break into the team, so you would think if nothing else that those fringe players would put in a shift.

oh and Ainsworth subbed himself on (at 43 years of age no less, you don't win anything with granddads) and got an assist for our third goal...

Disappointed with our away turnout which was apparently around the 150 mark. That's more than I would have hoped in a normal season for this competition.

I mean going to a match at the Franchise is bad enough under normal conditions but in these circumstances it's just totally inexcusable.

They'll be easy enough to spot as they walk around with a shining halo above their heads chanting loyal supporters.

We had that debate on stagsnet about how boycotting the game and the club made you an unloyal supporter. Complete and utter shite in my opinion, but that's me.

Fail to see how they can't see the bigger picture involved here.

I don't think some people are aware of the bigger picture. Among the tweets read out on Radio Cumbria last night, the majority congratulating the team but complaining about the format; were a number saying 'shame on the boycotters'.

I had a look on the Oldham forum and see similar things there, one person complaining at the low attendance in a way that made it seem they were unaware of the reason why there was a low attendance.

Between the fans who follow the club throughout the week as we do, reading news articles and chatting on here with other football fans, and the armchair/fair-weather fans who are barely able to name a player and maybe go to one or two bigger games per season; I believe there is a majority of fans who are loyal to the club, attend most games, maybe even have season tickets, but only when they're playing and don't concern themselves with the bigger picture or really pay any attention to the club once they leave the stadium.

I have friends who fit this category well, my friend from Whitehaven who I used to travel up to Carlisle with, and who now comes up to visit on matchdays gets to over half the games each season, and in the past got to more and only unpredictable working hours put him off getting a season ticket. He's fairly knowledgeable about the club and the division as a whole but, for example, probably doesn't know who all our new players are this season yet, though is aware that we've made signings, and may or may not know about the controversy surrounding the Checkatrade Trophy. I think these people are actually the majority of people in the ground on any given day.

Haven't spoke to a single person who is going to the match at Notts County tonight. Nor have I seen anyone on either of our message boards say they are going. Hopefully this is reflected throughout our support and we have a superbly low turnout tonight.

Our Chairman has spoken openly about his dislike for this competition, and joked about putting our mascot in the team for the game. Not sure what the rules are on players having to be signed on, but if Bristol Rovers can name a 57 year old supporter on the bench, then I can't see why we couldn't pluck 16 players out of the crowd and give them a go.

When did a local newspaper covering a lower league team employ someone with an ounce of intelligence who can actually write a decent article?!?

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
I think fans really need to remember admission price when worried about people who went.

Alot of clubs tried to be sneaky and devious by offering £5 adult and £1 kids deals that they NEVER offer us previously just to spite us boycotters and its backfired big time as gates still dropped by 20%.

Its means Oldham for example got 1600 and looks like they didn't lose lots, but financially they only really had an 800 gate as probably charged £10 plus in the usual jpt......and a good portion of that 800 people cash could be just £1 kids tickets.

Financially alot of clubs will be grumbling this morning as this new format hurt more than jpt ever did and we've still the meaningless colder October games to come

You see it a lot, fans sitting separately from one another. I always assumed its just how the tickets were sold. But it does look odd.

I'm disgusted with each and every one of those who attended last night especially as if pay on the gate was available even more would have gone. These are the same people who will be the first to whinge if B teams are allowed in the league.

Our game against Hartlepool is tonight for some reason. Would be really disappointed if the attendance is four figures - should be a tiny number of away fans, too, is a fair trip for a Tuesday night.
