Yeah was just thinking the competition has ALWAYS been poorly supported, very poorly in most cases. When it was the LDV then the JPT it's NEVER got good attendances until the area finals.

So most people that are 'boycotting' more than likely never went to these trophy games in the first place.

Adamstag couldn't contain his 'excitement' when Mansfield crashed out at the group stage after being turned over by our 2nd string with ease. Wish Mansfield didn't enter this year, got to listen to him falsely beg his side to lose games again.

Looking forward to defending our trophy.
Yes it’s always been a poorly supported competition but not to the extent of boycotts and sub 1k crowds across the board.

The JPT never had boycotts, just lack of interest.

A club that would have drawn 2,500 in the JPT now gets around 800 in the Checkatrade Trophy.

I’ll give you a C+ for that, quite witty for you, and you managed to get a fact correct too, so bonus marks there.

You like giving marks out on here don't you. Hope you're not trying to play out some curious fantasy :smug:

Seeing as you haven't clocked it yet, try and remember that we sit on totally different branches of the IQ tree and, erm, put it this way... if you fell off it wouldn't hurt :dk:

Lol. I think the level of ridicule you’ve received from fans of various clubs on this thread says it all.

You trying to convince folk you’re clever is akin to San Marino trying to convince other nations they’re good at football.

Fucking brilliant. Made 7 changes from Saturday - we’ll, 8 really cos Knoyle went off injured early - then picked up another 2 injuries McCourt and Young. Diougoraga looks way off the pace at the moment - be a few weeks til he’s ready. All in all a fucking waste of time.

Someone posted this on our forum which I think sums up my feelings on this absolute farce of a tournament. The sooner we are out the better. I wonder if we can choose to withdraw from the competition a la Man United from the Fa Cup. If we did we would probably get a fine of a billion pounds and be forced to play all our home league games in that season in the Galápagos Islands.

a pointless friendly largely for the benefit of Chelsea's kids leaves us with 3-4 injuries including 2 likely starters for Saturday, potentially set back Jordan Young's return in front of our 3rd lowest gate since the war. Thanks a fucking lot, Football League. The League have killed their own competition, they should accept defeat and put it out of its and our misery

Because Chelsea play when they want to play not when the EFL want them to.
I always thought a rearranged fixture required the agreement of both clubs. Could Swindon not have refused, in a fair world, Chelsea would then have been fined if they refused to play. However I suspect the boot was very much on the other foot with Swindon risking a fine should they refuse to have the match rearranged.

They got rid of having set dates for this competition's games, to appease the big clubs and entice them to enter. They're played all over the schedule.

Fella on our forum suggested the group games were played as part of pre season.

Good idea, that.

Joke of a competition. Injuries mounting up already and we got spanked.

Ashamed to say I took my 5 year old as an introduction/experiment to see if he's ready for meaningful matches. Needless to say "daddy I'm bored" was said at 2 minutes and 37 seconds into the first half and he spent the rest of the game on my phone and eating thoroughly expensive food.

In all fairness, you lot are one of the few teams who would benefit from playing there. You'd double your budget with the amount you'd save on Phil Brown's tanning sessions. Although, the Lincoln fans would also be right at home alongside their spirit animals, the conniving venomous bacteria ridden komodo dragon.:lol:

Only about 10,000 miles out. We're nearer to Komodo Island and the Galapagos than they are to each other.

Perhaps you were thinking of Fenty's long lost uncles?

Obviously I meant because Phil Brown is a keen keeper and breeder of the komodo dragon and would be taking them to live on the island.:whistle:

THE RETURN!

DC's said we won't be taking this as seriously as last season (even though we generally rested first teamers up until the latter stages anyway).

Can see us changing the whole XI, injury depending.

Slocombe, Wharton, Wilson, Crookes, Luque, Chapman, Rhead, Green, Mensah and Gordon will probably all get minutes and it'll give us an opportunity to play McCartan after a couple of games out.

On that basis, I'm boycotting the games.

I hope we put less emphasis on all the cups this season, shouldn't be too hard after already bowing out at Blackburn in the Carabao.

I hope we don't lose against Mansfield tomorrow but would definitely rest the majority of the first teamers, along with the FA cup, they are no where near as important as fully focusing on us trying to get promoted.

Not sure I agree r.e. FA Cup - it's potentially a good money spinner.

It's not a midweek competition either.

I don't see it as a priority, we have a strong enough squad to be able to rest key players yet still have a reasonably good starting XI. I know the money is good, it's a given we will be given a crap away draw anyway.

It's the equivalent of a behind the closed door friendly really - (just actually with a few fans) so hopefully we just play kids or reserve players.

I suspect Kewell will go with what he sees as his first choice team at Grimsby tomorrow just on the basis we need a bit of confidence from somewhere.

Just £5 for our game and a quid for under 18s, pure desperation to get the numbers up.
