It's something to do with the Trophy no longer being classed as a first team competition since the Prem B teams were introduced. So Jones is banned from all football until 3 real first team matches have been played.
I’ve seen a few of our fans on Twitter saying they might go tonight, doesn’t seem the same outraged replies either that there used to be.Against League 3 have shared on twitter today that they reckon this format is going to carry on for another 3 years.
Claim attendances are on the up, Well done Lincoln.. Be interesting to see what they are around the grounds tonight to see whether the boycotters are staying strong or people are just going to accept it as what it is now.
The first bit makes sense, but I can’t get my head around why he’s then banned tonight as well. We also play two under 23 fixtures between now and the end of his ban and he can’t play in those either, so it’s effectively a six game ban but only a three game ban.
It’s like some weird system where this trophy both doesn’t count as a game for suspensions but somehow also does count for suspensions in this case but not other cases for reasons I’m not sure even exist.
You seem to know a bit about it (more than I know or can be arsed to find out) but it begs the question as to why Wes Thomas is available for us tonight and then still suspended on Saturday in the league? The ban is from 'all forms of football' and was received from the senior competition. The ban is effective for the period until the ban has been completed in that competition (2 or 3 games). The fact that there are 'lesser' competition matches during that period is immaterial, he is still banned from 'all forms of football' and they do not count against that ban.
It prevents players from swerving/reducing the length of a ban in an important competition by the club counting their lesser in-between matches when they probably weren't going to play in them anyway.

Tbf, even your lot were saying you were OTT in the first half last night. I wasn't there, but when the recipients are saying they were all deserved yellow cards then you can't really argue. Every update seemed to be 'FK to Lincoln as 'x' brings down McCartan/Anderson'.I see the Cowley sisters redefined irony for calling Mansfield “overly physical” in Lincoln’s latest failed attempt to beat us
No idea what formation we were playing last night but we had one CB playing, one CM (17 year old) and 6 attackers, so it looked like a 3-1-6 from the teamsheet.

Fliftcroft was the one causing a stir by refusing to shake hands at the end of the game.
Touchy. Only a genuine comment/observation.Yeah we get it you made changes - and so did we including a CB (18 year old)
Rash tackles it sounded like in the first half, and they all got punished, same with the red card for your lad in the second half.
Flitcroft apperantly was uncharacistally wound up after the game, but it's just ironic considering the only red card in the game was on Lincoln side and you have a player in the starting line-up that likes to hurt people intentionally.

Not sure who you're referring to r.e. intentionally hurting people.

Big lad, former JCB digger I know because he used to play for Mansfield!!!!!
Anyway, 200+ made the trip which was suprising and disappointing.
Only around 50 U's fans made the short trip to Roots Hall, which is great news afaic. I see Mansfield had over 200, but what about the other sides?
Almost 300 Cheltenham at The New Lawn last night.Only around 50 U's fans made the short trip to Roots Hall, which is great news afaic. I see Mansfield had over 200, but what about the other sides?
Seven changes for us; ashamed to admit I turned it on to listen for a bit of the second half as I was interested in how the new young loanee striker we have would do. Cheltenham sounded a complete mess, they need to get a new manager in ASAP.We came from behind to win and I genuinely cannot remember the last time we did that. A shocking first half redeemed by a good second half. Nice to see Akheem Rose play a part too.
Elsewhere, it was a massive shock to see Sunderland playing Stoke u21s! Quite a win from FGR as well. Did most teams make a few changes for last nights game, think we made about 5? And finally, I saw some Lincoln fans had the cheek to call Mansfield’s away support poor!
Think I read somewhere they compensate you for that, knowing what their fraudulent tin pot competition will mostly be like. After doing our best to throw it away we won on penalties. It was quite entertaining even if a waste of money switching the floodlights on. 2400 in our stadium at £5, £1 and kids free prices surely was a huge financial loss.
