Some harsh comments on Jalal considering he's just won this league and been part of the team of the season...

If he's that bad and still gets into the team of the season, what's that say about the rest of the goalkeepers at this level...:dk:

This was a poor quality league last season and we didn't even have the best players, we just had the best manager. Jalal was also the weakest player in our starting XI in my opinion.

However, he isn't shit. He's decent most of the time but decides to chuck one in his own net every 4 or 5 games.

As for Sam Wedgbury, I'm not really convinced he's any better a midfielder than Jalal is a keeper. He's a really nice guy and runs around a lot - those kind of players tend to get overrated because they put so much effort in. He's a bit sideways and backwards and lacks real quality.

Neither Wedgbury or Jalal are 'win the league' kind of players, but they're both play off standard - so I wouldn't be that downbeat.

This thread is like a tinpot greatest hits collection. I think all the Chesterfield fans on here should update their sigs to say 'take care, [name]' to save them actually having to write it at the end of every post.

Loving how this sign off is now being picked up on. He's been doing it for years. It's like when you've liked a band for ages but now everyone else is picking up on them.

Although sometimes it was just a warning to let you know not to leave your wallet alone on a table, as he can't resist the lure of money, so, take care.

100% agree with the above RE: Wedgbury.

These kinds of hard working honest players are good. If you have a few guys willing to go through a wall for you, you probably won't end up in a mess. That's been our problem the last few years, a lack of effort on the pitch. We need these kinds of players to avoid going down again.

Exactly my thoughts! Surround these type of players with those more technical and creative you're onto a winning formula! I trust MA to build a team capable of challenging for promotion

You've signed a few solid NL players, but none of them are the type of signings that will see you bounce back straight away in isolation.

They give you a solid base but you need a couple of quality players in there. Weston for example will put in some good performances but is very inconsistent.

Yeah like I said it's a good start, but it's evidently clear we're going to need to add players with that creative spark to compliment what we've brought in so far.

Two seasons with us and both times was part of the team that made the playoffs. Seems you lured him away with a two year contract.

Was decent for us, although sometimes can play too many diagonals (that might suit an Allen team though) and he has a habit of letting the ball bounce, which cost us horribly against Macclesfield and Ebbsfleet

I might be off the mark here and Barnet fans will tell me I am I’m sure but..

When we got relegated everyone screamed “you need a manager with experience in this league”, “you need to sign non league players who know the league” and we are doing just that..so in that respect I am happy

I don’t suspect we will sign many I’ve heard of, or many fancy players like we’ve had over the years but I’m warming towards to MA

Congratulations fellow Brotherhood member, you have now reached stage 7 , acceptance & hope and have gone full circle, you'll remain this way until 5:30pm on the opening day of the season when you get piped by Havant &Waterlooville at home and the cycle of grief will start all over again with stage 1, shock and denial.

Allen does know how to get out of this league. And the signings so far are all pretty solid, but unspectacular. Look a mid-table side who may just make the play offs. Then again I thought the same about Cheltenham a few years back.

They stink of about 10th to me.

Saying that, the standard here is absolutely diabolical so someone will probably win it with about 70 points next season.

You do realise it's not even June yet don't you? Our squad isn't anywhere near complete yet. It seems to me that MA is just getting the foundations of the squad in place atm

I think it is more realisation that we might not be on for a 3rd successive relegation.

I'd take 10th right now.

Now that we're gone 10th is of course available.

Nice to see Chesterfield fans adjusting nicely to non league. Genuinely shocked and gutted that you went down.

Always thought Martin Allen would end up as our manager at some point and I’ve always liked his honest style of management (similar to Micky Adams) so hope he does well for you.
