There aren't any grounds to ban him, I can't justify binning him off because of his opinion. After all, that's what makes discussion on a forum.

Apart from the fact he just labelled you a 'c***', which I've removed from his post, and trust won't happen again wiganmudhuts28?
of course not my old mate.

That's right because as I have already said, there are season ticket boycotts yet we'll still probably be averaging what you are.

I'll ignore the last bit coming from a Wigan fan. I've already bitten enough as have far too many others.
can wee be friends ?

Five years more in the top flight and you still never got a top half finish.

We're a small club at this level, but we're still bigger than Wigan.

The FA Cup is the only thing making you bigger than Rotherham too IMO.

10th place in our first season and a League Cup final along the way ;)

Seriously though, on what grounds do you see honestly Reading as a bigger club? We're more well known globally, spent longer in the top flight, won a major trophy, played in Europe? You currently average a few thousand more home fans, fine. In the grand scheme of things though, that's not good enough to be considered a bigger club.

Im also looking forward to Wigan away, I don't believe we've played at the DW so we should have a decent following there and it'll be a good day.

Anyway, I can assure you you'll much prefer AG to that shitshack of a ground down the road, don't let it tarnish your image of Bristol!

Yep, Filton Abbey Wood and the long walk to the ground past all the housing is not the brightest part of the world. Hopefully AG is nearer the actual city centre of Bristol.

Bigger fanbase, probably as well known globally, much better history (even if it's crap in the grand scheme of things).

Only thing you have on us is 1 FA Cup.

We could have played in Europe (passed up the opportunity in 2007) and 8000+ is more than "a few thousand more home fans".. so that renders those arguments useless.

99% of fans would agree that we're bigger. And we're tiny.

we sold out.... bristol citys fan base aint that much bigger than ours so that 45k is a lot of bandwagon fans who have no interest in bristol city facts!
All 45k are bandwagon fans?

no your coming out with the same bitter comments...forest are finished...stop living off the clough years...your going nowhere now.
A fan saying that there is no respect for his club then goes and shows no respect for another club

not wum at all.....we are more famous and we have won more you get an extra 2k fans well done sir...with the size of bristol you should be packed to the rafters every week home and away....thats very dissapointing
Yeah but we aren't due to plastic supporters, but despite that we are pretty much selling out week in week out currently (inform me if this is wrong, but we definitely were for a while).

Tough guy behind a keyboard with no name aren't you? Come to the promenade on Saturday and I'll volley you in the fu**ing sea. Do everyone on here a favour. Although you've probably not got a ticket, you don't seem like the sharpest tool in the box.
Guy calling somebody a tough guy behind a keyboard with no name threatens to volley him in the fucking sea...

Oh, and you seem to have no name either...

Oh, the irony

We'll have to agree to disagree. I doubt you are known as globally as we are. The FA Cup win was watched all over the world, not to mention the foreign players we had. If you stopped some random football fan in America, I'd put money on them knowing who Wigan Athletic are, and not knowing who Reading are.

I hope Al Habsi is doing well at Reading by the way. One of my favourite Wigan players ever. Such a great ambassador for the club as well as a top keeper.

No matter what points system you use, at the end of the day no one has a fucking clue how big each club in the division is. End of.

No, the points system is 100% correct.

To be fair, no truly big club would find themselves languishing in the second tier of English football. Some clubs are bigger than others etc, you've probably got 6/7 teams who are clearly bigger than the rest and then there's not a lot in it between the other teams.

Getting back to the original question ie Club size, my take on it is this, for what its worth.
I think a clubs size is determined by number of Fans not what trophies it have garnered, some clearly big clubs for example Newcastle and Sunderland mess up season after season, small clubs such as Wimbledon sometimes win the odd thing, dosent change their size.
I also think you have to look over the clubs entire history (crowd wise) most clubs attendances rise and fall depending on circumstances at the time. Note you can find all clubs average attendance at one of the Newcastle sites. I was pleasantly surprised to find my team the mighty Boro stand a respectable 16 best supported English club of all time. Given the crap we get of everybody all the time I feel this puts a bit of correct bias to it.
anyway I have placed all teams in a band 1 to 5 1 being the largest 5 being the smallest, you can argue within each group were each team is placed
Group 1 Leeds, Wolves, Wednesday.
Group 2 Forest, Boro, Derby, Brum.
Group 3 Ipswich, Charlton, QPR, Cardiff, Fulham, Hudds, Hull, Brighton
Group 4 Burnley, Blackburn, PNE, Bristol C, Reading.
Group 5 Brentford, Rotherham, MK Dons.
well there you have it do you think I have I basically right or totally wrong

I see what you are saying Alan but yourselves, Newcastle and Sunderland have no other clubs vying for match day supporters, us, Preston, Blackburn etc and the London clubs have more larger clubs around us to take match day fans away. And trophies do matter, so does playing in europe etc. If it wasn't for 2 euro cups, Forest for example, would not be anywhere close to the level you have them at, as until clough, they were a second division club going nowhere, but they won the 2 cups and as a football fan, gave me some great matches watch in the 1980's, especially with the filth winning nowt

Maybe Cardiff should be a bit lower, there average home support is pretty shit. But it's really hard to tell with Cardiff as they have floating fans tbh

How have Huddersfield managed to sneak into group three?

I'd say Fulham and QPR are questionable as well but I suppose they both have recent Premier League exposure.

Well, if we've learnt anything from this thread so far, it's that it'll be far livelier in the Championship section next season. What with fucking Lloyd Christmas fighting outta Wigans corner.

Swap North End, Bristol City, Burnley and Blackburn with Hudds, Cardiff, QPR and Fulham.

Why is it when small clubs get promoted to this league you always get some guy running his mouth on how big they are?

First you had that tosser from Doncaster, then SERNWA (although you can tolerate him) and now this arsehole Wigan fan. Think the dizzy heights of the 2nd tier are too much for some people.

I agree with Alan's argument although he has his numbers wrong.

We have more fans than Huddersfield and at least on par with Cardiff, QPR, Hull, Fulham etc.

If there's a set of freakish results in the last two games of the L1 season, meaning we sneak a playoff spot, and then somehow beat two probably better teams and end up in here....

...then we'll comfortably (or narrowly, if Burton hold their nerve) be the smallest club in the Championship since the dawn of time...:)

Edit. EXCEPT FOR NORTH END! (Glossop, that is, before anyone from Preston gets miffed)
