He's absolutely terrible. If Johnson somehow turns him into a competent player, then their name is definitely on the trophy.

Big fan of Scott Griffiths, has his deficiencies, can look a bit uncomfortable on the ball, and can sometimes lose his man at the back stick on crosses, but he works bloody hard and is whole hearted, and for a lower league fullback that's not bad.

After a shaky start he turned out to be a good player, not amused.
Gary Johnson's done ok up to now with his signings. Strengthened at the right time. Look forward to seeing him and Holman today !!

I'm prepared to believe that Cranston has been playing well for Gateshead this season, but it still seems a bit weird to be paying money for a fullback who was once substituted at half time because he couldn't cope with skills of Theo Bailey Jones.

Paying a fee for a left-back in the same division. Cheltenham will be down here for a while if they don't go up this season.

And Woking made the best left-back signing of the day, too.

Yeah, Griffiths is a good signing. Played against us tonnes of times in L2.

Cranston is the perfect example of the 'look at me, I'm a footballer' type and one who thinks he's far superior than he actually is.

Jack Makreth signs for Tranmere and is on the bench. Another one for the Scouse Brigade.

We've just signed Richard Brodie! Not sure if that's good or not.

Always looked a right handful when I've seen him, but very easily wound up. You'd hate him if he was playing for the opposition, which I think is a good thing.

Not particularly sure why we have freed up budget for one of our rivals while not improving our own squad. Bizarre signing.

where does it mention our finances !!! Quite pleased with the reaction on here about the signing.
All the others were classed as average too so bodes well for the rest of the season.
:2thumb:

Where did I mention finances in my post?

Cheltenham actually paid money for a full-back in the same division.

Amazing what a decent amount for a 16 year old can do for the club. Love this from a Gloucester fan:

"I see Cheltenham are spending more money they don't have again as they gamble big time. Will be in trouble if they don't go up this season"

Bitter much?

He started out here. Wasn't given a lot to do today when he came on, but it's unfair to judge him after 20 minutes or so.

Gary Johnson will not tolerate a prima donna and wouldn't sign one either. Your jealousy is embarrassing.

He's potentially a really good winger for this level. I was really excited when he signed for us and he showed more than enough flashes of what he is capable of. As with anything I say about our players you might want one of the match attending Mariners to back up what I'm saying, but he struck me very much as a confidence player. More often than not he didn't look like he thought he could take the ball past a fullback when the reality is that he most certainly can. Despite that and not being the greatest crosser, he'll still get plenty of assists if he plays for you. For me, a better winger than Marcus Marshall and I would have quite liked him to have stayed, especially as it's looking increasingly unlikely that we'll be replacing him with a better wide option. All the best to him, as he always came across as an alright guy whenever he was interviewed and he works hard on the pitch. Just a shame it never really worked out for him here. Absolutely love this goal...

Tranmere fans, does this mean you've given up on Dawson now?

Club not convinced he is fit enough for the run in, however interest remains and from what I've heard he will sign for us in the summer for free, as opposed to the small fee rumoured a couple weeks ago.

I'd imagine so, at least for the short term. Brabin was asked after the game about signing Dawson and his response was something along the lines of "he got injured in October, came back just before Christmas and broke down again. He's still injured and yet I'm still being asked about him". Pretty sure that means he's not coming.

Abdulai Bell Baggie has left. Should have been our best player but was a massive disappointment.

He'll sign for Macc, no doubt

Always seemed to have something there, but very rarely would you see it. 1 game in 10 he'd be the best player on the pitch, then he'd be anonymous for the next month.

Hearing Evan Horwood to Grimsby. We had him here in L1 and he would be a really good addition at this level. Defensively not the best, but going forwards he will support the left winger (or could even be the left winger). Takes a mean set piece too.
