Pools also sign Rhys Oates and Josh MacDonald last at Halifax?

Seems to be it for today

Those two reek of cheap back up signings. No offence to them.

Hearing Zaine Angol, Frank Nouble, Danny Graham and Michael Duckworth are having or have had talks. Still in for MSH, he's keen on a loan deal but Fleetwood might be taking a look at him for next season.

MacDonald a mixed one. Quality on his day. Loves an assist and very pacey. However, he’s very one footed, doesn’t score goals and once he’s been cropped, he drifts out of a game.

Duckworth would be a quality signing. One of the best, if not the best right back in the league. He hinted earlier today on twitter he’s undecided on what to do next. Pete Wild has given our players a deadline which appears to be this weekend for players to decide their future.

He was pretty good when he played for us in the FL. I'd be happy with him if we don't get Southam Hales back.

Duckworth was a tidy defender he was just majorly hampered with injuries during his time here, I wonder what happened to Challinors ‘big signing’ he was talking about a couple of days ago?

It was Rhys Oates. I'm disappointed you're not as buzzing as I am about it.

seem good signings for an NPL team?
They also signed Reece Styche last month, and a fair few others from NLN level

Presumably they're all enticed by the fact their ground is the highest above sea level in England

NPL Buxton have signed Sam Wedgbury from Chesterfield and Josh Granite from Barrow
What the hell has happened to Wedgbury over the last handful of years? A bad injury IIRC but doesn't seem to have got back into the swing of things?

He had an ACL injury before joining us then think he did it again 2 summers ago after leaving. He was actually fit the whole season he was with us and was great, a proper midfield tank and a leader. With the injuries and his style of play I doubt he will ever fully recover to how good he used to be.

Stockport/Halifax fans, Liam McAlinden has signed for us today. Any good for a relegation battle?

He was our top scorer playing left wing before he went to Stockport. Started off like a house on fire but seemed to lose interest once football league scouts started coming to watch him.

Some of our fans seem to rate him but I didn’t. Couldn’t really work out what he’s good and what position would suit him best.

He’s not quick, strong or good in the air and he’s whole game just came across as quite powderpuff to me. I expected finishing to be his strong suit but he missed more chances than he took. He did score a really good goal in the final game before lockdown but overall the word average springs to mind,

What did you think of Rhys Oates.
A serious reply,please.

I liked him, had a bad injury last season so he barely played. Without covid, i presume he would have been kept on and given a chance. Season before he looked good out wide for us but he is the most unfit player i've ever seen, so after about 20 minutes he was always blowing.

He was like that in his first spell at Pools.
Looks even more unfit now.

Crawley had Mason Bloomfield on loan all last season. He is a London lad so a move to Hartlepool is somewhat odd.

He couldn't displace Ollie Palmer so a lot of his appearances were for the last ten minutes and such. That means his goals tally per appearance is skewed. He is definetly better than that.

He is 6ft 3, strong and pretty quick but his confidence may be knocked after our two managers last season didn't fancy him.

When we were FL we only got northern players, since we've been here we're able to get loads of southern lads up to Hartlepool. Not sure what it is.

We needed a big forward so we'll see how he goes. Ta for the review.

Mason was very raw when we had him, certainly a unit and knows where the goal is but not sure he is a 20+ goals a season striker.

Footballers in the south have learned they can earn the same up north where everything is a 5th of the price and life can be much more comfortable. Only have to look a Manny O who just left us to go to Scunthorpe who struggle in league two yet was offers a deal at Orient also.

That goal was against Maidenhead where he was on the right wing came inside and smacked it in the corner with his left.
Not strange in itself but he did exactly the same thing at the same end earlier in the season for Halifax.
Certainly enjoys York Rd.

This is the kind of answer someone who really doesn't understand the game of football would give.

The reality is he is a clever forward whose movement allows him to drift in to space unnoticed or create space for those around him. He's also good at running the channels to help the team get up the pitch.

He's not tall or strong or particularly quick but he is a skilfull and intelligent forward who will link up nicely with your other attacking players.

I personally would have liked him to stay, but i trust in Jim's judgement.

Good luck to him and Morecambe next season.

Or someone who has a different opinion to you. We struggled to score goals during his spell with us and Gannon after having a look for a few games started to give him less playing time.

Seems our manager agreed with me as he released him at the first opportunity.
