Chesterfields business does look the best of the summer so far. I liked the look of Miller for Notts. Big expensive looking squad but should be up there next season for sure.

We’re waiting for you lot to join the party!!

Any closer to a manager yet? I imagine once that’s over the line the signings will begin to flow

Will be announced next week apparently. I think they are building tension for the documentary!

I’m amazed we weren’t asked to a documentary and feel slightly embarrassed for the producers once they find out about all the trophy’s we’ve won. Still that’s on them. Heads will no doubt roll when they find out about us

Fully expect a few of our current fringe players to move out in the coming weeks.

Definitely think the likes of Joe Rowley and Kairo Mitchell will be moving out, ideally on loan to another club at this level for them to kick on. Both have potential but neither are going to be regulars

Can also see Martin Smith and Alex Whittle departing too
Need to get players out on loan if they are on silly money.

Nobody is on silly money anymore.
The players ODL mentioned all came in from PT contracts at KL, Weymouth etc. All on relative peanuts. We’ve cleared our decks and had our clear out. Squad size is 20/21 and our budget is 20% down on LY

Expect we will start the season with that number, with a number of exits and a couple more coming in.

What we looking at?

Roach
----- Gunning/Kerr Grimes Maguire - - -
King --------- Miller
-- Oyeleke/Mccourt Weston --
Clarke - - Mandeville
----- Rowe - - - - -

Sumat like that? On the face of it, the key will be working out how to get the best out of Rowe and make him be a striker that acts normally, instead of roaming or lor. Asante coming back we will obviously need to accommodate which means a change in formation (or rotate him and Rowe). Guess it depends how many Rowe has been bagging

Quick and lively winger who is dangerous when running at defences. A bit hit and miss though, seems to be a confidence player and his passing and decision making are poor at times. I'm a little surprised to see him get an EFL move now and think he could have done with at least another season at this level, but he's a great lad by all accounts and I've no doubt he'll give everything during his time with you.
I would add that there is a slight temperament problem as well. Sent off twice for petulance and frustration type offences.

Loach - Solid ‘keeper down here, been around all over the place. Surely heard of him?
Grimes - Dunno
King - Been one of Halifax’s better players last couple of years
Clarke - Was very good on loan for them last season
Miller - Ended the season very well for us on loan after we converted him into a wing back, bit of a risk but a big potential upside

I don’t think they’re quite as exciting as some others are suggesting, but coupled with Rowe’s excellent record after taking over last season they’ve got to be considered genuine contenders. I would say similar to yourselves where the signings have looked solid rather than spectacular, but I feel confident the manager is going to get the best out of them.

On paper I still think Stockport look a fair bit stronger player wise (and haven’t even signed anyone yet), but not convinced by their manager.

It's always difficult judging other clubs signings and of course fans often talk up their own signings.
We also need to remember that generally we are talking about non league players with limited abilities ( with the occasional rough diamond).

Judging any signing is pretty difficult. At this level particularly, it’s often more about a player fitting into the right system at the right time. I’ve seen us sign dozens of players whose former club has raved about them, said they should be at a higher level etc and then they’ve turned out to be useless for us. And just as many where the opposite has happened.

I’m sure a few clubs down here would have had their eye on Luke Armstrong, seemingly surplus to requirements at Salford, after his good season at Pools. We certainly could do with a fox in the box type. To be honest I thought any chance of signing him had gone after Pools had got promoted to the FL, believing they would pull out all the stops to bring him in on a permanent basis.

I was right on the first part, at least - he’s signed for Salford-without-the-celebs, aka Harrogate Town. Bit of a blow that I suspect to our former brothers.

He was on mega wages and they've paid Salford a fee for him, we paid 50% of his wage during his loan here and that 50% was double what our highest contracted player was on, we all knew we wouldn't sign him.

Id agree Stockport look the strongest team so far.

Chesterfield have signed players with a proved non league pedigree (including players like Clarke and Miller who are young enough to keep improving). That certainly can be enough to win you the league (look at Sutton). And I have no doubt they will compete next season. Some of their fans seem to think they will walk the league (based on their form in the second half of last season I think) which I just can't see at all, but we all have crazy optimistic fans who don't look at any other team.

I was disappointed to see it regardless, from a brotherhood point of view. Hope you manage to find a decent replacement.

Aye, to see your side outbid and outwaged by Betty's Tea Room isn't great but, it is what it is.

Gutted about Southend getting Abu Ogogo would have loved him here at Grimsby. A few more signings for us and we are just about ready to go which seems very, very odd considering the past 10 years we have picked up all the scraps that nobody else wanted barring Bogle which we paid for.

Oh nice, thank you. Appreciate that. Yeah I know Loach actually, admittedly. Not sure if he's ever been at a club in the same division as us though, I can't think of a time I've seen him play against us, but could be wrong.

But none of the other four are familiar so that's useful. Cheers!
