Stefan Payne signed after released from Grimsby I guess? Colour me unconvinced, looking at it he's had more clubs than Tony Jacklin and never really scored a lot at any of them. Anything not completely depressing to say to us Grimsby fans?
He's a twat! Ended Durrell Berrys career with a disgraceful tackle. Someone shouted to him as he came out for the second half that Berry had broken his leg and he laughed. Total bellend

One of too many sensational careers tragically cut short

I’ll wait to make my own judgement on Payne when I actually see him play

Does seem a strange one from JR tho to risk upsetting the applecart with a ‘loose cannon’ from what other clubs supporters have said…

End of the day, we know how ruthless Rowe is, and if Payne doesn’t pull his weight from day dot, JR will not mess about in getting rid. So let’s just see how he gets on

By the way Chessie fans I hope you’ve realised that the Grimsby fans on here are honest in our assessments of players that used to play for us and don’t slag them off just for the hell of it but in the case of Payne, he really is fucking dogshit.

It would be a very poor signing, where has this rumour come from anyway?
A name that has been mentioned & I'm bored by the lack of activity at the moment.
But as Chief said ,if its true its totally underwhelming

I trust you mate. Weird one this one, maybe just a direct replacement for that Mitchell fella who I expect to be out soon. That's all I can think

I only have one image to share with Chesterfield fans to describe Stefan Payne, this image isn’t deceiving, it’s 100% genuine and this happened multiple times last season. It was also an incident like this that caused the infamous fight in the first place.

He was probably the worst player ever to grace the " Blue & White Quartered " shirt. Well along with Bennett -- But at least Bennett put some effort in.

Him being beaten to the ball when he was about half a step away vs the nearest defender at about 3 yards away. Happened constantly with him.

As I said, in a striking department where Asante, Rowe, Denton and Tyson are all established within the team, he’s going to have to work his bollocks off to get into the team

Anything less and he’ll not be here for long that’s for sure. Rowe must see something in him to bring him in? I know Grimsby fans have not a single good word to say about him, but surely someone can shed some light on what type of striker he is? E.g. Target man type, Quick, box player finisher etc… just trying to work out where he’ll fit into the side

Hopefully it's just a six month deal (with the option of a year if he manages to refrain from headbutting teammates) to see us through until Asante comes back.

I think he's supposed to be a target man. Not sure how quick he is because he doesn't move. He did score a one on one for us, if that helps?

What type of striker is he ? Well he is a fat lazy git who wears lead boots. And that is being kind about him. Our fans were trying to get on the pitch to reminstrate with him when he started to rant at them. He is a first class p***k.

Payne was at Dover with Ricky Miller, another player Kinnear got the best out of, went to an EFL club [for free] & it didn’t lead to much success

Apart from 1 season at Shrewsbury Town which led to Bristol Rovers paying a big fee for him.
Whatever you do steer clear of criticising him on twitter, his sister is very protective and will give you hell.

Josh had been Crawley's only left back so was always picked. At one point he was our only left footer. Then he got injured and the manager realised that a 35 year centre back was a better option.

I always thought he was OK. Not the best, not the worst left back but the people I stand with at games thought he was garbage. I suppose the reason I gave him some slack was the way the team was set up he often ended up with two players running at him and the left wing or left midfielder nowhere to be seen. Hard to stop a cross in those circumstances.

I hear you also signed Josh Payne. Lovely range of passing, good free kicks but a little static. Also has an annoying tendency to turn back k towards his own goal when he shouldn't. Get a quick forward in and Payne will be able to set counter attacks going.
