That's a massive signing holy hell. More proof if it was needed that NL is the biggest league below the Championship

Sign off intent there from Stockport. Good job the gaffer is shit or they'd be killing it

You would say the same about Madden and Mullin, though, they’ve both been good without coming close to justifying the wages. Suspect Sarcevic will be much the same.

You lot and Rowe get a lot of stick (some deserved tbf), but of the three you’ve shown how to spend the dollar if you have it IMO.

Seriously though, what on Earth has gone on at Bolton? One can only assume his agent got on the phone to Stockport to let them know something had kicked off.

Evatt’s a good manager, but you can certainly imagine him having a big falling out with just about anyone.

Must be some obscene wage bills at these clubs, you’re talking £3-4m a year. Ridiculous.

Is this Sarcevic properly good then, or is he the type of signing Wrexham would make? Sort of fat lad in a sweet shop scenario?

Described as an attacking midfielder.

Yeah, kid lad in a sweet shop stuff from us that. We need a controller dictating, not an attacking midfielder. Rooney could find himself on the bench.

It's got to be an agent thing if even the Mail were reporting it before it happen

Surely you go 4-3-3 now? Rooney and Sarcevic playing ahead of Croasdale, Madden and Whitfield wide of Quigley.

Sarcevic confirmed and ‘available for tomorrow’s trip to Notts County’ I see.

Ffs! Should add a few more Hatters to the gate at least.
Think we've already sold 1'800. He sounds a good player but doubt it's "better go to Notts" if you weren't before. Should be a good following regardless.

Any recomendations for pubs near the train station from the Notts lads?

There’s loads of options, what kind of thing you after? Good ales, food, somewhere with the football on, cheap?

But Southam Hales and Kitching are definitley more wing backs than traditional full backs. And with the shit load of centre back combos, our squad was clearly built for the wing back style.

Something will have to give somewhere.

It is kid in a sweet shop stuff, don't disagree with the lads on here at all. But a good manager would make a good combinations out of it by making some tough decisions in the process IMO. Lets see about Rusk...

Time we're getting there and lads I'm going with, probably something to eat with some decent choice of lagers. Doesn't have to be cheap nor too fancy.

Aye of the three big spenders only Chesterfield currently walking the walk, guess Stockport are now panicing a bit, and Wrexham the same. Wrexham stuck till Jan though.

How long will it go on before either of them realise money can't hide crap managers?

That's 2 clubs in this league who have pinched captains from League One clubs. I expect the next UEFA coefficient will have The National League sitting somewhere between the Eredivisie and the Russian Premier League.

There’s three or four round the corner from the station around the canal that should all do the job. Tends to be where away fans congregate when there’s a big following, and a 10/15 stroll down to the ground. Used to be a Spoons there but I don’t think it’s reopened after Covid, but there’s the Canalhouse which is a bit quirky and hipster, and the Fellows, Morton and Clayton place which will probably have more lagers and does food. A couple of others as well which I’ve never been in so can’t vouch for.

If you’re there early, the Vat and Fiddle is great near the station and is usually mixed home and away. Good food, but more ales than lagers. Gets packed after about 1pm.

Any of them show the early kick-offs?

It’s a while since I’ve been in there, but pretty sure the Fellows, Morton, Clayton place does. There’s a few within a stone’s throw of each other, so you can just stick your head in and see which looks best tbh.

Kitching and MSH both played full back at Hartlepool.

My problem is with the midfield and its lack of mobility. I think 433 would work but we need a Lewis Montrose type holder - little dumpy Croasdale works hard but he’s slow and often weak and more of an 8 than a proper DM.

I’d be very surprised if he’s even in the 16.

Rusk has a habit of not including signings in the first game after they have signed.

Great mate, thankyou. We'll head to that area and we'll be there from 1240 ish until about 2 40 before we'll probably realise we'll have to actually head to the ground. If you're in that area, don't be shy to drop a PM on here. Can't promise I'll remember to come on here and pick it up but if I do, I'd be more than happy to let you know which pub we're in and buy you a drink.

Stockport literally cannot afford to fail now, what with Sarcevic being on £15k a week. It's all or nothing for The Hatters from here on in.

Christ, we’ve only got the 2 good players and we can’t work out a way of getting the best from them.

Must be a nightmare for the Stockport/Wrexham /Chesterfield Allstars managing those egos and deciding who’s picking splinters out of their arse this week. No wonder a Mickey Mouse club like Grimsby are running away with it.

My heart sunk a bit when I heard he was an attacking midfielder. It didn't sink as much as when we lost to Kidderminster to get relegated to the NLN. But I know fuck all about these FL players and I was hoping he was going to be a midfielder that dictates the midfield. There's no denying it sounds like an opportunity has presented itself with a locally based talented and we've just gone for it. Not really strategic squad building.

I thought that players had to have been released before the end of the transfer window to sign for someone else on a free before January? Wasn't that why Dean Cox had to drop down quite low after he left Orient?

National League doesn't have a Transfer Window bar Wrexham who are confined to Welsh FA rules (will never get my head around that one).

In the case of Rooney to Bolton yeah Bolton would have to wait until January.

Reading more into it, just sounds like Sarcevic and Evatt have had a falling out and we've pounced. We've scouted him for years and he's been on our radar probably since he started out at Woodley Sports which is now Stockport Sports. I think we were linked before he went to Bolton. His agent probably rang us up told us the situation knowing he may want to stay local and that we had the potential funds for his wages. Definitley more opportunistic than strategic but he does sound a good player. Like I say, all down to Rusk to start delivering.

There’s going to be some buckets rattling in the next 6-7 years if some of these ‘projects’ don’t take off

As I said elsewhere, I personally think he's overrated going off what I've seen but that's a limited amount admittedly.

Is Sarce any good? On Tuesday he was Bolton’s best player and was only on the pitch 20 minutes? Whether his direct running ability will translate in NL we’ll see.
