We've signed Adam Cunnington on loan from Ebbsfleet (thanks again). Just the sort of target-man striker we need alongside Holman.

Was a really good player at this level a couple of years ago but has disappeared a bit.

Has proven he knows where the goal is at this level. Will be rusty having only made appearances off the bench for Ebbsfleet this season but an ideal player for Holman to play off.

Cunnington is not just a target man, though many view him as such. He will also work his socks off when the side's under pressure. A very good signing, esp. when he gets his fitness back.

Definitely the type of player we've been missing this season, you can see we're short of ideas up top, hopefully he can change that.

For " a lack of money" you've made some loan signings that aren't exactly cheap!

We have 17 signed players which includes Rendell and Yakubu who are injured for the season, so 15. We only have the money to loan players - with three of the loans this season, two of which are still with us, being unproven League players from U21 squads so we aren't exactly breaking the bank for them. Four players were put on the transfer list today. Holman, Cunnington, Braham-Barett are the only three loan signings that 'aren't exactly cheap'. Braham-Barett will be on his way back to Ebbsfleet at the end of this month anyway I'd imagine now Chris Arthur is back from injury. You are right, though, that we do have a lack of money, hence why we have to loan players.

Cunnington and Holman are more expensive than most loan signings of any part time team - but I suppose having a free ground helps ;)

I also imagine you've loaned Cunnington because you're not able to buy out of the window...

Not sure why you edited out us having a free ground from your post.

The point of having a smaller number of players is so you can try to pick up some gems in the loan market for cheap, like we have done with Marriott and Stockley in the past. Some don't work, like we've see this season with Pattie and Cardwell. GH will have left over some budget so we can get half decent players in the loan market, like Holman and Cunnington. Worth remembering that we won't be paying 100% of their wages.

Looks as if we've signed Jamie McDonagh from Sheff Utd on loan for a month, striker.

Bit embarrassing now, isn't it?

McNulty, GTF, Tomlinson, Maynard, Norwood, Mangan, Riley, Sutton, Margetts etc.

What am I missing?

Anyway, the last thing I expected was a signing this week. Going to have to do a bit of research on this fella...

This'll save you some time:

Good luck to him. Gary Simpson's good mates with Allen so he's probably had a word.

Can't argue with 40 odd goals (including cup) in two seasons with us. I'm not entirely sure he'll be able to make the step up tbh. Tried with Macclesfield, albeit a 5(?) years ago, and I don't think it went particularly great.

His main attribute is his work-rate, but in my opinion that's not enough in L2. He mainly played on the left or right of a front three here and he wasn't someone who'd take men on like a typical winger and wouldn't really play like you'd expect a striker to do down the middle when he got the chance there. He might be slightly more comfortable up front in a two but certainly not an out and out winger in a 4-4-2 or anything.

Most of his goals come in patches rather than consistently over the course of the season and are generally from in and around the penalty spot/ 6 yard box (in fact, I think last season, and possibly the season before, he had scored the most goals from inside the 6 yard box in the Conference.). In that respect, he was a bit like Kevin Nolan and wait for anything to drop for him from set pieces. He'll never let you down - keeps going and never hides during games.

Hope I'm wrong and he does well, though. We were all disappointed to see him leave here. Did a lot for the mascots/family/community side of things, too.

Nothing has been confirmed yet. Can't see anything about it, other than Martin Allen saying he had a conversation with us.

Not embarrassing at all. Shows the club are trying to get back into the Football league. I thought you had signed Dawson as well.

No. Thinks its the defenders in front of him too. But with them more assured that they have a capable keeper behind them that may build their confidence again. Whats happened to Manny Smith this season?

Pleasing to see Mills signing the first goalkeeper of his reign. Can't believe such a crucial position was overlooked in the summer and we were forced to play a mascot in net up to this point.

Very happy with Taylor coming in.

We've got decent defenders, but they have been playing as if they've never met before. No reason why we can't sort this out though.

Gray getting back from injury is also excellent news. Back on track versus Barrow hopefully.

It's mainly the manager, as he doesn't know what set pieces are. This by a slight definition makes us better though as we know now that not EVERY SINGLE shot on target will go in.

Superb signing for Wrexham, was far and away the best keeper in the league last season. Why Newport haven't played him is a mystery, it's not like they've been keeping many clean sheets! He's got some competition in Shwan Jalal this year though!

I had a feeling he'd end up at Wrexham at some point!

We've signed Cameron Norman from Norwich, a centre-back. He captains their U21 side.
