"Britons never shall be slaves." I've watched the Last Night of the Proms every year on Danish or Swedish tele since I was a child. Now all I can see is that all the Brexit folk are willing slaves to one of the most evil men on the planet.

Explain how and why Britons could or would possibly be 'slaves to Putin' post-Brexit.

I would be interested to hear the views of any Leavers on this:

He dismisses the bulk of the arguments for Brexit based on the fact that Whitehall commissioned a study that found that there's nothing wrong with it...

If you're for a Brexit in two days time, you're slaves to him right now, aren't you? Why do you think Vlad keeps bombing Syrian schools and hospitals? To keep the stream of refugees constant on EU, that's why. People don't exactly flee towards Mother Russia, do they? All Putin wants is to tear EU apart, because the EU project has "stolen" Stalin's old war loot Eastern Europe. And because he can't launch nukes or something without getting some back, he found the perfect weapon instead: A constant stream of desperate refugees from a bloody Middle Eastern conflict, refugees no one in Europe wants, wherefore the EU members inevitably fall out with each other. That's the nature of the pissing contests between the capitals, that's how power works, and Vlad is sadly extremely skilled in this disgusting Machiavellian craft. And Brexitters are doing exactly Vlad's bidding: Stampede straight into the choice, that will give him his revenge over EU. It doesn't even matter to you lot, that Brussels has closed down the EU borders from Greece to Sweden because of the crisis, compromising EU's principle of freedom of movement. But it never matters what Brussels actually does, does it? You're all the willing slaves in a geopolitical wank, 'cause apparently Nicoló Machiavelli was that damn genius.

3 polls tonight. 2 give decent leads for Remain, 1 a small lead for Leave.

You can't make it without the Jerries either. You do know that, right?

Churchill again, same speech, Zurich 1946.
I am now going to say something that will astonish you.
The first step in the re-creation of the European family must be a partnership between France and Germany.
In this way only can France recover the moral leadership of Europe.
There can be no revival of Europe without a spiritually great France and a spiritually great Germany.
The structure of the United States of Europe, if well and truly built, will be such as to make the material strength of a single state less important. Small nations will count as much as large ones and gain their honour by their contribution to the common cause.
The ancient states and principalities of Germany, freely joined together for mutual convenience in a federal system, might each take their individual place among the United States of Europe. I shall not try to make a detailed programme for hundreds of millions of people who want to be happy and free, prosperous and safe, who wish to enjoy the four freedoms of which the great President Roosevelt spoke, and live in accordance with the principles embodied in the Atlantic Charter. If this is their wish, they have only to say so, and means can certainly be found, and machinery erected, to carry that wish into full fruition.

Scotland repeated I reckon. 55 versus 45.

Definitely can see that happening. I'm thinking it'll be slightly closer though and a 53-47.

Come on EG. I don't agree with much of what you say but I respect your opinion. Don't turn in to Johnny in the Flat Earth thread and dismiss evidence because of some agenda.

Anyway, I thought that report made up a small part of what he said. He talked a lot about the difficulties we'd have with trade and the ten-year tussle we'd have in negotiations. The Norway example was also very interesting.

You may not agree with him but don't just dismiss it as crap.

Well yeah, that's my point. He used the report (which he's kind of misrepresenting in any case) to dismiss the bulk of the argument for Brexit and focuses on the arse-ache trade agreements instead. I'm not an economist, so I couldn't even begin to query most of that. I don't contend that there'll be an economic cost though, in the short to medium term at least.

Maybe 'slave' means something different in Swedish, but in English you're not making much sense. What Russia or Putin wants doesn't even factor into our decision. It's trivial. The EU is not a threat to Russia, NATO is, and we'll be in NATO regardless. Far from caring that the EU is compromising it's principle of free movement, I'm glad. It'll make us all more secure. If all European countries had border controls then maybe those Kalashnikovs wouldn't have made it into Paris.

You're kinda arguing like Trump right now, man. "I don't know what I'm talking about, but I know I'm right."

A major theme in this referendum is EU immigration, illegal or otherwise, and Putin knows that. The more civilians are killed in Syria, the more they trail towards Europe, making the EU members bicker amongst each other over who is to take how many. And when bombs hit civilian installations in Syria these days, they're always Russian. Even the Americans shoot straight in Syria. You seriously don't see a correlation in this?
Look, it's simple: Who's gonna be left smiling, if it's a Brexit? Who'd want to tear apart the EU project, because of a for his side unfavorable outcome of the First Cold War?
giphy.gif

You need to ask yourself, if you really want to give the prick the satisfaction? If the EU is really that bad? Again, you guys haven't gotten the bulk of them immigrants, not by a long shot, and you have Brussels to thank for that, whether you'd acknowledge it or not. How many do you think you'd get, if you choose to leave? You really think a few Poles taking the jobs the rest of you don't want is the key hurdle here? Then your focus is completely off, I have to say.

You're wilfully ignorant of the immigration debate in the UK then.
