When I was there it was pretty much all vale round there, and back then they had just got to the prem as well, so I would have thought now it was quiet as they all crawled back under their rocks given they have been shite for seasons..
Fuck me you have just bought back a vision. Those stupid “12th man” stickers in the back of their cars driving round with flags hanging out saying “premier league “
No wonder we split up. It did my nut in. I had to get back down the a50..:

Tunstall has always been more Vale.

Stoke is infested with the shit though. Spent time living in Oakhill, Trent Vale, Hanford and Stoke, so I've plenty of experience of them. Proper strange bunch.

Fucking Salford are one of the live games in the 2nd round - just as they were in the first. Would have thought the fairytale would’ve diminished by now.
Don,t underestimate Chesterfield decent squad and an excellent manager, Lets hope Salford do.

Not that there was ever any prospect of our game being televised but hopefully can now get on with confirming our game for the Saturday.

Salford again though?

why are salford on tv again! madness.

Even if it’s against a plucky non league club there are so many better ties out there

Salford based BBC are going to be at Salford. Hmmm. There’s a surprise. The OB team won’t be getting much on Expenses.

You couldn’t make it up. Fucking Salford again.
All this just to get a shot of Gary Neville sitting in the directors seats. Horrible shithouse little club. Can’t wait till they go bust. And they will.

feel sorry for the 200 hardcore fans that used to go before they was used as a toy. Even lost their crest and the colour of the home kit.
Hope chesterfield turn them over.

Sure the draw produced better examples than Donny vs Mansfield but it’s a much better offering versus Salford and them weird lot across the M1 for TV.

Aye no arguments here that would be a much better fixture. Decent crowd guaranteed and probably an evenly matched game given how Donny have done this season. Salford are barely scratching together 2000 home fans this season will just make for an awful visual if nothing else. To be clear Burton v Vale also would not be a game I would pick but a local sort of derby and close to a full stadium would have a better case in my opinion.

Burton v Vale is more attractive than bloody Salford... most games are.

I dont get the fascination, they get 2000 a game (think they are now the lowest in the league for average attendances so hardly a pull.

It’s for the man united fans who may watch them on tv.

Manchester is a horrible vipers pit of tv watchers……….football hotbed my backside. Tameside is an area with 250,000 people none of its clubs can get higher than 350 fans, they all go to pub to watch one of the two big clubs on tv each weekend.

Yep. I would find time to watch Burton V Port Vale but there's no way I'm going to waste two hours of my life watching the Salford game.

I've come across this warped logic on social media that Salford could get 4/5000 home fans should they go up. Frankly I reckon there's more chance of the U's reaching the final of the FA Cup than there is with this absurd idea that Salford could get that number of home fans in L1.

Why would another 2-3000 locals be more likely to come to watch Salford’s league 1 games if they aren’t interested now?

Bizarre thinking to be honest. They will get a few more through the gate no doubt if they were storming the league as happens at most clubs but a couple of years levelling off like they’ve done in L2 and those fair weather types soon disappear.

Just looking at their home attendances the only times they’ve gone over 2000 is when they’ve been propped up by Bradford, Hartlepool and Swindon plus a couple others. I don’t see how going to L1 to play Morecambe and Accy makes that more than double.

They had better crowds in the past couple of seasons because tickets were a tenner weren’t they? Think they’ve gone up now (possibly to aid FFP?) now they’ve dropped massively.

Some of their attendances bear in mind are swollen by big away followings I’d love to see their average gate minus away fans

Heaven help us all then if they get through. No matter who they play in round 3 it would be on the tv, with a feature on scholes, butt and Neville with a brief mention about the other team.
ironically fcum still get larger crowds, although they have also fell away since seasons of mid table mediocrity.
Seems Manchester is falling out of love with football.

FCUM still get decent crowds especially considering their level, and they actually have a point to their existence. Salford are by far and away the most pointless penis extension club there has ever been.

Really feel sorry for their long term fans though, despite how few there might be.

Been to Salford a couple of times before they became famous.

There was 8,000 (total attendance) there at Wembley to see them play Fylde in that play off final. There was never any interest there in the first place, just media hype.
