If you can't find anywhere in Burton on Trent to have a decent pint the world is really in trouble.
This as well!

The pub up the road towards the outskirts of town from the ground is decent.

How many away fans do you get in at SJP now? Gunna be one helluva Boxing Day!
I'm not actually too sure. It's around the 1,000 mark. Maybe just over that - I don't think the new stand actually increased the capacity. But you'll be much louder due to the roof we now have thanks to Barnet. We never used to be able to hear the away fans (from the Big Bank anyway) but can now so the atmosphere is always better.

That’s the beech. It’s for away fans.
Near the ground there is the navigation.( by the bridge hidden under it )
In town the best ones are the Devonshire, coopers and roebuck for atmosphere. Not far from the train station is the Alfred.
All are pretty friendly. I like to have a beer with away fans. Apart from Leeds when we was in the championship. Absolute arseholes.

I don`t mind Burton, it`s just that 1650 tickets for us there isn`t enough and if you manage to secure a ticket we traditionally play crap there. You can find a decent beer there of course but no better than in Burslem.
They have had some interesting results ; beating Sunderland and Ipswich but managing to lose to Crewe making it difficult to call.

Last time i went to Burton was Boxing Day 2019. Hungover, rained non stop, lost 4-2 and then the driver made a wrong turn and we ended up back by the ground after 15 minutes driving.
All part of the joy of supporting lower league football clubs.

As I said you will either beat us 3-1 or we win 3-1. We are so inconsistent.
Your form is red hot and it’s the cup so it’s going to be open.
1650 tickets is crap - we toyed with the idea of an extra tier on the away end to cater for villa, Leeds, derby and Newcastle etc but decided against it due to the cost.
Enjoy your day out if you go.

As with the Accrington tie either of those results will be fine with me. So long as the tie is decided on the day and no replay will take it. Generally the better the opponent the better we play so another top half L1 club hopefully we can put in a good performance.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of room for a major expansion on a couple of parts of your ground.

True. There is a brook behind the away end, and the home terrace is near the road that takes you to the main stand.
All irrelevant now anyway, as when we got relegated crowds went back down and less away fans.

What a treat if we manage to beat Wycombe, fucking Lincoln.
It's Lincoln Xmas Market as well (Thursday to Sunday) and we never play at home on that weekend so there's a high chance the game will be on the Monday night, although we have Crewe on the Tuesday so I'm not sure how they're gonna work that.

Loved going to your grounds. First time was back in either 1970 or 72 with Bridgwater Town in the FA Trophy. A little bit fiesty to say the least that day. My mates uncle played in goal for Bridgwater. Since then have been with Rovers but to a different ground. Like Burton as a place as I used to stay in Swad a lot and visit Burton on a regular basis.

Think it’s a winnable tie for Mansfield, did not realise how poorly they were doing although we’ve not done much better in a league below thus far.

Can’t wait to be called a scab by some lads that were born in the mid noughties.

People in swad hate Burton. It’s ingrained. Hence why people from Burton don’t go to watch Gresley much. It’s like a different world..

The pub up the road towards the outskirts of town from the ground is decent.

I’ve got family that live up the road from the ground near Marstons I think it is, plenty of good boozers within walking distance, good for a pub crawl anyway.

Crawley away followed by Orient away. Magic of the cup right there.

Don't worry. We had MK Dons and Cheltenham away in the first two rounds, beat them, then got Man City away.

Burton away is a cracking draw for me. Local, sell out away end and a great away day. I had an 18 month relationship with an ex who lived in Newhall. So I know the areas of Newhall, Gresley, Swad and Burton itself, very well indeed.

A great selection of pubs in the town and on the way to the stadium itself. Decent club with decent fans (apart from the minority who got all high and mighty when they went up a few leagues). Got a few mates who are Brewers fans. Went to their pre season friendlies against Villa and West Ham a few years back and then spontaneously turned up at their Play Off Semi Final at home to Southend too. They won 1-0 IIRC. Rowett was the gaffer.

If we do beat Northampton then I much rather we play Bradford in the 2nd round. No disrespect to Exeter but they have become one of our bogey teams. The h2h record since our promotion back in 2014 reads W3 D1 L10 !! That's ten losses ffs. And they also dumped us out of the FA cup in 2019 after a replay so if one includes those two games then it's 3-2-11.

Well I hope we play you as well because Northampton are our bogey team!
But let's not get ahead of ourselves..

Northampton definitely our bogey team.

Best ever result against Northampton: 5-0 win in 1984.

Since then.
Played 29, Lost 19, Drawn 7, Won just 3.

I wasn't even born then, how do you justify selling tickets for a game of such prestige?

Complete opposite of me then. Dated a girl in tunstall for 2 years. Her dad was a vale fan, and it was when you had that silly season ticket deal for about £150 or something like that. He worked shifts so I had his tickets instead on a few occasions when we was away from
Home ( back in the non league days ) Used to enjoy a few beers in burslem first. Think it was 2007 time. I know the area well. I have fond memories of it all ( not so much her - she was mad as a box of frogs )..

When I was there it was pretty much all vale round there, and back then they had just got to the prem as well, so I would have thought now it was quiet as they all crawled back under their rocks given they have been shite for seasons..
Fuck me you have just bought back a vision. Those stupid “12th man” stickers in the back of their cars driving round with flags hanging out saying “premier league “
No wonder we split up. It did my nut in. I had to get back down the a50..:

We don't. Nobody will turn up if we have to go there. Awful place regardless of our track record.

I'll have to check if we've been there either on the way down or back up.
