Clarke will be gone before the year's up if we carry on like this. The past two months have been shocking, and since the Fulham links it seems the fans have completely turned on him (and I kind of have to include myself in that) and the comments by the owners haven't been too favourable either.

52 points from his 43 league games so far isn't good enough..

If we get humiliated by QPR on Thursday live on TV I think there will be no turning back from then. He still has the next month or so before I start wanting it.

Up until yeasterday i was on the fence about sacking him. If the bad results go on up until the end of December then he will be gone. Could be sooner if we get stuffed in any of our upcoming games.

Regardless of your results if I was a Reading fan I'd want him sacked. To talk to another club in the same league midway through the season is basically sticking 2 fingers up to everybody connected to your club. He'd be willing to throw all his work at Reading (and the investment and support given to him) in hope of getting a little pay rise at Fulham. It would be ironic if you did sack him and Fulham hire someone else.

Shame. Finally gets Walsall up the table and will leave.

Why do so many managers do that?
I'm sure he's had plenty of approaches in the past, tbf

I think that's his point.

He's had approaches but stayed at a lower mid table Walsall side, but now he's got them in with a shout of promotion - he leaves*.

*If he does leave.

Reading were fantastic against us, and had started brilliantly. What's happened?

Clarke talking to Fulham didn't help. Poor tactics and team selection from the manager. Setting us up to be too attacking at times and changing the system too often. Goalkeeping errors in every other game.

A couple more defeats in our upcoming games and Clarke will probably get the sack.

Think it would be the best move for both parties if he did leave. Think both the club and Jackett need a change.

Dean Smith confirmed. Good appointment I think, would have preferred someone a bit more high profile, but they play some good football, so can't be too disappointed!

It had seemed that Carsley was going to stick around with the Development Squad, but the announcement today said he would leave the club at the end of December. Massive shame, clearly a real talent, had been doing a great job with the DS and I had hoped he'd be able to go back.

The poor form started well before that though!

Yeah the poor form started just after the October international break. Around the same time Quinn, Robson-Kanu and Tishibola picked up injury's. Our last decent performance was Middlesbrough at home and that was at the start of October.

Quinn/Tshibola got injured which meant that we lost the ability to play the 4-3-3 system that was working so effectively for us, maximising the strengths of our main players.

So then when the injuries hit, we went from what was an already attacking 4-3-3 to a suicidal 4-2-4. We get over-run in midfield, destroyed at the back and score even less goals than before.

Can definitely see the West Brom's fans thinking that Clarke has no plan B. His plan A was amazing, and with no injuries and other problems we would be right up there.. but he can't handle when things go wrong. Everyone sees that whenever we play the 4-2-4 we get destroyed, we also have a player (Blackman) who was the top scorer in the league and he is just being pushed out to the wing where he is getting more and more ineffective, more and more unconfident.

Granted permission to talk to Hasselbank. Sounds very promising from what I have heard. I just hope he isnt just riding the wave of work that Rowett done before him. I dont think so though, going by his interviews anyway. Comes across very well.

Reports are Warnock against Reading will be his last game, and JFH taking over from Friday.

Hasselbaink is an absolutely superb appointment. The job he's done over in Burton is nothing short of incredible.

Heard his interviews regularly with Radio Derby also covering Burton, and he comes across very well as you say. If we'd not got Clement, I'd have loved for us to have gone for him in the summer.

And we still have Karal Fraeye, our 'interim' manager.

I hate football.

For me, if we hadn't been able to get a higher profile name, it was always between Dean Smith and JFH. Should be a great appointment for you.

Massive risk for me. I wouldn't have been disappointed with JFH, but I hope when we look around soon we go for proven experience. I think teams like Ipswich prove how valuable having someone who's been there and done it can improve what on the face of it is a very average team.

Unfortunately we'll go the hire from within route again I guess, which in the past has had mixed results.

JFH capitalised on the foundations Nigel Clough, Roy McFarland, Paul Peschisolido and Gary Rowett had left there. He has barely established himself with Burton who were already top of League 2 when Rowett had left. Brentford have made the better appointment in Dean Smith, in my opinion.

Going to be a big step up for him. Agree with El Guapo I think Dean Smith is a better manager than JFH (sorry if this is considered arse licking ^)

That's nonsense, quite frankly. So what if they were top of L2? It's not easy to come in mid-season and keep a team up there. Not only that, they are top of League 1 now. To say he has barely established himself is utter shite.

however, I do think this may be too soon for him. Think he should have seen this season out personally. Oh well, I hope he does well, comes across a very nice bloke.

Yeah I agree, regardless of how well the foundations were set, to be where they are now is fantastic work, couldn't have done it if he was useless.

I do agree with this, but then I might be being slightly biased.

We have had Hughes and Redknapp who both had experience and both flopped. We had Ramsay who has no experience and flopped. Hopefully having JFH who has some experience is the right way to go.

You have to take into account the solid structure that his aforementioned predecessors had built on over the previous 16 years. Nigel Clough took Burton from Southern League obscurity to the verge of League 2, Paul Peschisolido got them established, and Gary Rowett installed the quality for the club to move forward. JFH inherited a strong squad and the set-up at Burton was already in place. No doubt that he has done well in the short time that he has been at the club. A shame for Burton that he has left the job unfinished with barely a year behind him. I don't think Rowett has yet 'established' himself as a top tier Championship manager either after only two half-seasons with Birmingham, same principle with JFH.

I have supported Burton Albion for nearly 50 years, Nigel Clough did a magnificent job for 10 years at the club before he was poached by the sheep. He worked in tandem with the best chairman in the country(Ben Robinson) and built the club up year upon year. Roy McFarland blew a 21 point lead at the top of the Conference but we just managed to limp over the line. Paul Peschisolido got us established in the league but ended up getting sacked after a spell of 17 games without a win and for having no plan B. Gary Rowett having ended his playing days with the club was there as assistant manager from when we started out in the football league. On becoming manager he stamped his mark on the club and turned us into a much tougher and professional side that was very hard to beat. Unfortunately he was lured to one of his former clubs Birmingham City. In came Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and David Oldfield and they altered the playing style slightly and moved us up another gear. Their style of management has brought fantastic results for the club and we find ourselves in the amazing position of top of league one.
Have no fear QPR fans you have got a brilliant managerial duo. They will manage at the very top of their profession, of that I have no doubt.
