Monaco 0-0 Lille. Decent game but Lille will take the point.

The Camus goal for Troyes against Nice was top drawer. Giving up a 3-1 lead against 10 men though is a bit shit from Ben Arfas side.

Montpellier vs PSG tonight. Neither Ibra nor Di Maria are deemed ready for the bench.

And what a bench it is!
Kimpembe, Stambouli, Marquinhos, Rabiot, Augustin, Sirigu, Sabaly. Terrible.

Pastore had to go off injured. He's been replaced by Rabiot. Try not to get sent off this time, Adrien!
Montpellier have looked quite solid and don't play like they're bottom of the table.

Montpellier look fine...until the time comes to shoot.

Edit - That header was decent though, good save.

Won 1-0. Matuidi to the rescue.

We're boring to watch and Cavani needs to go. Club is going nowhere. Will still win the domestic treble but we'll get knocked out in the CL in the quarters or summat and it'll all end in tears.

Kurzawa to PSG then. I really like Kurzawa, whenever I've watched Monaco he's stood out as a very good, attacking left back. Maxwell is still class though (even at 34) so I'm guessing Kurzawa will be playing second fiddle to him for a little while.

4 quality goals from Lyon, hat trick from Fekir, pick of the bunch though is the 4th by Beauvue.

Went to the PSG vs Marseille game. My first Ligue 1 experience. Good atmosphere.
It was open with both teams wanting the ball. Marseille pressed PSG really well in the first half. But they gave away two penalties which allowed PSG to come from behind.

Nantes vs Lyon finishing goalless doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Nantes are helpless going forward and Lyon need anything they can get these days.
Disappointed at the others being goalless draws though. I was at a Ligue 2 game this evening between Créteil and Paris FC (bit of a derby there). Also goalless but not a bad game to attend tbh.

Well the half way point in the season and no surprise to see PSG running away with it.
The place for second will be interesting but I think it will be Monaco's come the end of the season.
As for Lyon, well the end is near for their manager as its been a poor season for them. Don't think hiring the assistant will do much good !
Looking at the bottom, I think Troyes are doomed. And with a few teams looking at the possibility of being in real danger.

The big excitment for this second half of the season are very much points-related. Will PSG break their own record and win the league by 90+ points (they could even reach 100 but I don't think they will as they'll have the title won by March) and will Troyes record the lowest points tally ever which was reached by Arles-Avignon (20 points - Troyes currently have 8 points halfway through)?

Haven't read great things about Genesio either. Apparently he arselicks Aulas and Lacombe in criticizing the manager (except Garde). Don't think sacking Fournier was necessary given that Lyon's season is over. I hope Monaco don't get direct access to the CL. They'll finish bottom of their group with their develop youth-sell high policy.

March 13th to be precise. Ligue 1 record to win it so early and Ligue 1 record to win it after only 30 matchdays.

Now onto breaking the points tally record and breaking the CL quarter-final duck we've been having.

Marseille just got demolished 2-5 by Rennes (who aren't very good all said and done) at home. Fans threatened to invade the pitch but were prevented by security.

In Ligue 2, Dijon and Nancy look destined to go up while 3rd will be heavily contested between Le Havre, Metz, Red Star and Clermont. Red Star is a northern-Paris side who don't enough money to renovate their stadium to professional standars so they are playing at Beauvais, a place far far away. If they got promoted they may play their games at the Stade de France.
At the bottom, Paris FC (who just got promoted) are going straight back down being 9 points from safety and having won one game all season. Créteil - another Parisian suburb side - won their first game since late October at Nîmes (who were in great form of late - undefeated in 6) and are level on points with Sochaux, a side who were Ligue 1 regulars for a long time but have now lost the back of Peugeot (a major car manufacturer) and are pretty much broke.
Niort, Evian, Nîmes, Valenciennes and Laval will all be looking over their shoulders till the end of the season.

In National, promotion of Strasbourg and Consolat Marseille should be confirmed in the coming weeks. The 3rd spot should go to either Orléans or Luçon.

Superb. Made most experts (myself included) team of the first half of the season.

Yes, he's too good for Rovrum. No offence.

Good to hear, yeah tbh if he rejected Sunderland in January he'd reject instantly. That wasn't the reason I asked about him though, I'm trying to make a case for him in something. How consistent would you say he's been? Thanks mate

Went to Paris FC/Créteil last night. It's sort of a derby and it was good fun to watch. PFC opened the scoreline after 20 minutes but didn't do much in attack after that. Nancy logically equalised. Second half was all PFC and they were able to go back in front with 13 minutes to go. Their defending (and Créteil's superior attack) saw them concede a second equaliser however late on. Bit harsh on the hosts.
This leaves Paris FC 8 points adrift from safety with 3 games to go. They're not going back down to the 3rd tier but it should be confirmed next week when they travel to Lens.

At the top, Dijon were confirmed promotion without playing. Well done to them. A new ground for me which I am looking forward to. Nancy should follow suit. The big winners of last night however were Metz (another unknown ground) who beat Red Star 2-0. Metz are the only side to have won last night (once again, far too many draws) but the run-in is tough. There is a rather massive game on the final day as Lens host Metz. The winner of that one may go up along with Dijon and Nancy.

Last night was the penultimate game in the French lower leagues.

In Ligue 2, Nancy were officially crowned champions after a 1-0 over Evian. Dijon are basically waiting for the season to end as they lost again. Metz should be the last ones to go up next week: they only need a point at Lens.
Sad day for Parisian football at the bottom as both Créteil and Paris FC got their relegations confirmed. The last spot should be for Evian who need to beat Nîmes (a good side considering they are 12th with a 8-pt deduction) and Sochaux to lose at home to Clermont. Evian should be playing in the 3rd tier next season.

The promotion race is hotting up in National. Strasbourg are almost there after a 3-0 against CA Bastia but with Orléans beating Consolat Marseille 3-2. The former is now just 2 pts behind the latter. Amiens and Dunkerque aren't too far behind.
At the bottom, Fréjus and Epinal are relegated and Colmar are heading towards the 4th tier. The final spot will be contested between Les Herbiers, Béziers, CA Bastia & Belfort.

I didn't know there was a French thread on here.
I lived near Niort for ten years and every other Friday went with my son and his best mate to watch them.I absolutely loved going and even though the footie wasn't of a great standard and virtually non contact most of the times I loved every minute. I follow them still after coming back to the UK , god they love a draw this season but they have managed to stay up.
The town itself is lovely and I miss it dreadfully

Well Niort is not far from La Rochelle and that's a nice area. It must be better than Coventry surely. :P1:

I'm going to do quite a bit of LIgue 2 stadiums next season and Niort will be probably be among them. Definitely going to do Dijon and Metz who got promoted this weekend (already did Nancy). Did you get to any away game experience with Niort?

Sorry mister manic I've took so long to reply.
I didn't do any away games with Niort as very few if any were anything like local. I lived in a town called Parthenay about halfway between Niort and Poitier so I did manage to go to Poitier but they played down the ladder quite a bit.
I also went to a lot of lower league grounds like Thouars, Cholet, Chaterlerault, who were close in the National league whilst I was there.
I just loved the atmosphere at Niort, it's a strange ovalish ground with temporary seating at both ends but I sat in the main stand close to the most vocal fans so it was pretty decent atmosphere.
I hope you enjoy it if you go, what I remember it was dirt cheap to get in too.
