I dreamt last night that we lost. Last time I had a football related dream it was the night before we played Rochdale and in it we won 2-0. Actual result was 2-0 too. I'm putting money on this!

Home to Sutton. Will be interesting to see how we line up, but Glatzel must be in contention after his MoM Pizza Cup showing. Sutton physical strong and with a long throw-in amongst their armoury are the kind of side we struggle against. Rovers need to get something from this game after consecutive league losses. Expecting a tight game, could go either way.

That's pretty much their tactic. They're good at it too. Get the ball in the box early and cause mayhem. It's one of the few sides that we've really struggled with defensively. In football terms we were light years ahead, so if you can knock it around them and take your chances then you should be fine.

We go into this after 2 wins in the fa cup and pizza trophy. By all accounts some of the fringe players like Danny Devine did well on Tuesday, but will it be enough to force their way into the team? Not sure myself. Suspect he’ll wrongly stick with underperforming Mellish.

I look at barrow’s team and despite some dodgy league form I see plenty of leaders, experience and know how in there. Where as in our team there are a lot of young boys mixed with more quiet reserved types of characters besides the obvious lack of quality in key areas.

I think if there is any needle in this game with the build up it’s been given, and the fact barrow are bringing almost their entire fan base, then for me barrow’s squad is more equipped to handle it. Plus the fact we are by far the worst team in the football league means I can only see one realistic outcome and that’s a comfortable away win.

Taking chances in league games is our problem. 11 goals in 15 games but 12 in 5 cup games.

Have to be honest I didn't even notice how well they were doing in the table but feels like Newport have gone about their business quietly and if can see out the second half at Hartlepool that's a great result for them.

It's the perfect storm. Plus they have one or two back from injury. I'm accepting defeat tomorrow...it just seems inevitable.

Very good post on our forum today mate. You scored points for merely calling Leeds fans you have met where you live, dicks

Carlisle United 0-2 Barrow

Of the players likely to start, only really Ellis, Farman and Banks would be considered 'experienced' - I would imagine Carlisle have as many older heads.

We're so inconsistent - I think we've dropped the most points from winning positions, but conversely we also seem to step it up massively if we're not winning at half-time - so I could never predict this one. I do think it will be close either way though.

Those players are leaders though, they have a bit of character. We don’t have anyone like that. We did last season, not now. Terrible summer of recruitment.

Zanzala strikes me as a good character as well, don’t think anything will faze him.

Thought we were good for a draw to be honest and it was a massive sickener to concede a messy goal like that at the death.

Fondop really is fucking shite isn't he? No idea why Sweens brought him on.

We're still not good enough at both ends of the pitch, still creating chances galore but not coming close to finishing them and for me both keepers aren't good enough, 2nd goal Killip needs to either stick to his line and he collects that header easily or come racing out and twat the ball away, sadly he does neither and gets himself caught in the middle, such a soft goal.

Yep he didn't cover himself in glory, also wondering about how he palmed the first in the net as well. Did make a good save at 0-0. Killip is the better of the two but has his weaknesses, I think the Northampton fans were right on Jono Mitchell. Looks the part but decision making is rash to say the least.

Well we apparently got a few hundred K for the new stadium rights, that money needs investing on 2 or 3 top quality signings. Have my doubts though.

Trying to get to one or two close away games a season, working pattern makes it difficult, thankfully this league location wise is a far cry than the NL. Sadly for us though we are always shit when I go.

No complaints about that. The great home run had to take a dent at some point, and there were a couple of games earlier in the sesson that we could've lost but didn't.

I was impressed with Newport, particularly defensively. We were far from terrible and had a lot of the ball in good areas and put some excellent crosses in, but Newport kept us at arm's length quite effectively, won a lot of defensive challenges, and the few times they did concede a chance they unfortunately fell to Reagan Ogle. The best player on the night was the only Hartlepool lad, but he wasn't wearing a Hartlepool shirt.

The winner was a terrible goal to concede from our viewpoint. Piss poor control from our (checks notes) forward to concede a throw in near halfway but then - and we've done this far too often at throw ins - we just switched off. But even then, once the ball was in our box it should've been very easy to deal with. A setback, and the late winner hurt, but NOWHERE NEAR as much as the last late Newport goal that directly affected us. We need to respond, with FGR the next visitors to the Vic (or, ahem, Suit Direct Stadium)

I hope to get to the return fixture for more Friday night fun.

Good to hear. Long may it continue
They could be shit and still beat us.

To lose to us, a team would have to be utterly diabolical in every department and be down to 8 men for most of the game. Or be 3 leagues below us.

I would have settled for a draw but we caught Pools completely by surprise by putting four in the box for a cross in the 93rd minute.

Good to see the Remembrance stuff on the appropriate weekend and the bugler was superb.

beautiful day at least. Hope the cops aren't too heavy handed, Cumbria police get a bit overexcited and think they're policing the old firm when Hartlepool are in town so God knows how they'll be with Barrow.

Swindon seemed to have recovered well from their defeat to us.

Newport one of the best and most organised sides at the Vic in last couple of years in my opinion. Thought a draw would have been a fair result, but to concede so late on in the manner we did is a kick in the bollocks.

The squad players are just not good enough, a couple of injuries and we look significantly weaker. Fondop will never be a footballer as long as I’ve got a hole in my arse.

That looked a decent result midweek? Looked a strong Morecambe lineup, granted they are struggling after a decent start.

I’d love a draw here and now, knowing us though I’ll get what I wish for but with Vale scoring a last minute equaliser…

Vales lineup today. Nice to see Rodders as an option off the bench. Him and Politic late on could be the difference.

Amoo deserves a go, when we’ve changed it second half for Amoo we’ve been very good. Feel for Dennis the Menace though but a very good range of options on the bench.

Garrity for his legs makes sense to allow Pett and Conlon more freedom.

The bench was awful wasn't it, at least in an attacking sense. Joe Grey was already on the pitch, but you look at Sweeney's other options. Apart from Fondop there was Crawford, Smith, two defenders and a keeper. Slim pickings if you're chasing a goal.

Unchanged for us. But we've finally got some good options on the bench for the first time in months.

Only thing I’d maybe have considered is Leon on the bench. Bradford apparently according to that Guardian article rank third in the league on set pieces and could maybe do with that if we are in position to see the game out.

Will come down to our midfield. If they can find the time and space to play am confident we’ll win the game.

Vale don’t look very good here, too direct and giving the ball away cheaply.
