I wish they were less comical though. It's meant to be this ultra serious scene and then all of a sudden "ALL HAIL THE ROYAL TITS".

So, after finally catching up with the rest of you after finishing season 5 last week, what's everyone's thoughts on casting for Euron Greyjoy in Season 6??

I know Mads Mikkelsen is being touted, and although I think he'd fit the role brilliantly I don't think it'll be him.

My money's on Dominic West. Great actor, surprised he's not been cast already as someone tbh. Think he'd make a brilliant Euron.

Do you think we'll see Aeron and Victarion with big parts to play in Season 6??

I know the Tarly's are rumoured to be having a big part to play in S6, and am actually looking forward to seeing how they portray Randyll. A great tactician, supposedly one of the greatest soldiers in Westeros, I guess we'll see how DB+DW get across his persona on screen.

As for Benjen Stark.... Will we see his return in S6?? Is Daario Naharis Benjen in disguise??

Will Howland Reed make an appearance in S6? I'm not hopeful seeing as though Lady Stoneheart was written out of the show (Big mistake and DB+DW's behalf IMO).

So many things need answering.

Just wish GRRM would get this next bloody book out ffs. I can definitely see the show overtaking the books, but what happens then??

From what I've seen the books and the show will likely be taking different paths but will reach the same conclusion. There's some casting info for next season for those interested here http://winteriscoming.net/category/casting/

I can't see them including Aeron or Victarion seeing as they've likely cut the kingsmoot along with the battle for Meereen. Looking forward to Euron and Oldtown though.

But yeah, fingers crossed book 6 is out before then....

Looking forward to the book way more than the series after some of the annoyingly poor writing last season. Still really want to see Euron in the series though. Anyone read the theory about him sexually abusing Aeron when he was a young lad?

Lad on tour.

I believe there was a casting call out there for next season and one of the characters is Euron, amongst a few other interesting ones like the entire Tarly family

Just been on a binge of seasons 3 and 4 to catch up in prep for watching series 5 at the weekend.

It was disappointing overall, with the only really good stuff happening in the last three episodes. The white walker battle was insanely good and came out of nowhere which made it even more dramatic, apart from the dodgy CG I was riveted with Khaleesi's escape from there, and there was some horrific scenes involving women and girls which actually made me flinch - but the writer says he loves the ott violence and isn't willing to cut it, nor should he. The Cersei thing wasn't handled that well imo, and is probably a bit pointless anyway as she'll probably have these religious zealots executed next season anyway. Added to the fact that her CGI wasn't amazing either, it all looked a bit fake and that was a shame, though the body double did have a nice body tbh!

Series 5 overall I'd give this a 6/10.

Melisandre will resurrect Snow, fo sho

Having started the books but not finishing the first one, I didn't know what happened to any of the characters and didn't know John Snow was to be killed off - though thats my thinking, that Melisandre will somehow resurrect him as he's a huge link in the story of the North. A bit of a plot hole as to how it was done though - why didn't they just leave him and the wildlings to die outside of the wall and refuse them entry to Castle Black? Why bring them behind the wall only to murder John Snow once they are there - seems a bit pointless to me that. Had a feeling something would happen to Snow though when he had the goodbye meeting with Sam, thats always a huge clue that one of them wont make it.

It's likely that not all the Nights Watch wanted Jon dead - if they refused entrance to Jon and the other Nights Watch guys who survived the battle of Hardholme then there'd probably be mutiny from within Castle Black. Alliser Thorne realised he had to let him in and then kill him with a small amount of people who sympathised with his cause.

Looks like Euron has been cast. Good news for us book readers.
No surprise really. Great news though.

Pilou Asbæk from Borgen and Forbrydelsen, decent choice IMO. His eyes are a ringer for Alfie Allen's.

Ha, maybe fuck it up is harsh, more likely they'll just not make it as good as it could've been. But let's wait and see.

Greyjoy storyline was always the storyline that I never really understood the clamour behind from the book readers, so I didn't think it was a big deal they got rid of it - but now that it is here I am happy. Only weird thing is Victarion has been cut, I can see why, but Euron never struck me as overly interesting half as much as Vic was...

Jaime and Bronn going into the Riverlands apparently though, might finally pick back up the abandoned Riverlands plotline after 2 seasons.

Wow, that's good news but just goes to show how pointless their plot last season was. God it was awful. Trying to sneak into the garden in broad daylight and take the girl by hand. That awful fight scene too. I didn't even mind the sand-snakes in the books but hope Doran kills them all in the first episode of S6.

Are the books worth reading? I started the first one on audiobook a long time ago, but then the Ender's Game stories piqued my interest and after that I went to the 18th Century naval stuff with Patrick O'Brian's books of which I still have around 14 left to go.

I heard the GoT books start off well enough, but getting to the end of some of them is like a chore. I always prefer books to the tv or cinema versions though, but just wanted to know GoT readers thoughts on them.

If you have watched the TV show already tghen it would be good to compare. I personally liked the books although such a vast storyline you do lose track quite easily

Really looking forward to the Kingsmoot and Euron, just hope they do them justice!

Also seen they have recast Bloodraven, which is good news. A lot of Bran's story left a lot to be desired back in season 4, I still cringe whenever I remember those ridiculous fireballs....

Not sure if i want to watch season six now until TWoW is out. I really enjoyed AFFC and ADWD partly because I read them before the show caught up.

here's his blog post on the subject for anyone vaguely interested. http://grrm.livejournal.com/

disappointing of course, but if the released sample chapters are anything to go by I'm sure the book will be worth waiting for
