First episode thoughts:

Good on the whole. Liked the flashback scene and catching up with nearly all of the main plotlines. Looks like Tyrion is taking on Quentyn's role from the books in his attempt to ally himself with Dany. Enjoyed those scenes and the ones at the Wall most. Thought the King's Landing stuff was largely pointless but we all know that there is better to come there. Only moan is Arya's absence as I think she has by far the most interesting storyline this season but I suppose there's nine more episodes for that.

Am i right in thinking series Jaime seems different from book Jaime? I like book Jaime who doesn't give a shit about his fathers legacy and jokes about everything, kinda disappointed if in the series he's gonna be all 'protect the faimly honour' and stuff .

Watched all four on the bounce, given people have justed waited 9 months or so anyway, whats 1 month having watched almost half the series? Also if you watch other us shows they often go on 2 week breaks etc

Book spoilers. Do not click if you haven't read them.

Just watched Episode 1. I really appreciate the Grey Worm/Missandei and Loras/His boyfriend scenes instead of anything involving the Greyjoys or LS. This may be sarcasm.

I agree about the Greyjoys, but LS i don't care about, Catelyn was unbearable anyway and Stonehearts as bad if not worse, and yes i'm still mardy that Martin got rid of Dondarrion for her

Leaked episode spoilers:

What I don't understand is... why don't Arya or Sansa ever mention Jon Snow? They're always talking about how their family is all dead and they have no one, yet they know he's probably alive and exactly where he is. Sansa would rather marry a Bolton than go find Jon? Arya would rather set sail for Bravos? Maybe I'm forgetting something, but it makes no sense to me.

I'm fairly certain Arya was heading for the wall, at least in the book not sure about the show, but she decides last second on the boat to go to Braavos instead... It's been a year and a bit since I read that book so don't quote me on that.

I wonder why they decided to not show any dreams/flashbacks/prophecy's until now, I mean they've already missed some of the most important scenes in the books. But at least people are actually talking about Rhaegar now.

Well for a long time they were talking about doing a prequel, so they probably don't want to step on that. I'm wondering if maybe the show will spoil Jon Snow's mother before the book does...

Sansa doesn't really have a choice, she was a prisoner of the Lannisters now is a prisoner of Littlefinger, as much as he tries to be all nice, I think she knows the situation. Arya's head went a long while ago in regards to finding a 'happy ending' and her encounter with Jaqen made her want to join the Faceless Men

In the Tv Series Arya wanted the captain to take her north to the wall before being told the ship was going to Bravos at which point she remembered her coin, not sure if different to the book

Folks take it badly when their gyre of tits, fanny and throat slitting is interrupted by a bit of cockery, don't they.

"Leaked"

Convinced the writers liberated those episodes themselves, or someone at HBO did. Amount of excitement at the end of season 4 and hype for season 5 would have been offset and lost by lots of talking and people travelling to places in boats, horses and carts had people had to endure viewing that week by week until the start of May.

People are so pumped about getting these episodes early that it's okay that they only saw six nipples and one muff, right?

Now they only have to wait another month ("which is not that long considering we've been waiting like forever anyway") and they can even rewatch them in 1080 every Monday.

Also, GoT book wankers. Is it me or is it reaching delirium. Said to my new co-worker "Sean, do you watch Game of Thrones?" His immediate response..."Yeah, I've read the books, so..." Nice one.

Sincerely doubt that. Their new streaming service (HBO Now) launched to coincide with the return of the series. Having the first month's worth of their flagship show appear online for free right when they're trying to persuade people to pay for it would make for an odd bit of strategy, to say the least.

Occam's razor of review copies going walkies rules, I think.

They're owned by Time Warner, right? I remember reading this quote from them after the Red Wedding episode...

“Basically, we’ve been dealing with this issue for years with HBO, literally 20, 30 years, where people have always been running wires down on the back of apartment buildings and sharing with their neighbors,” he said. “Our experience is, it all leads to more penetration, more paying subs, more health for HBO, less reliance on having to do paid advertising… If you go around the world, I think you’re right, Game of Thrones is the most pirated show in the world. Well, you know, that’s better than an Emmy.”

...okay, so perhaps it is a little far fetched to suggest that but all I'm saying is that it wouldn't totally surprise me if they decided to let it slip out, if they felt the content of the first four episodes was a little less exciting than the latter ones.

Why specifically have episodes 1~4 been leaked and no further?

Yeah, you can even see the blurred out watermark which would otherwise have told HBO who'd leaked it. They'll have waited until the day before so that as many people as possible would be implicated. If the producers had done it it would probably have just been a single episode the week before or something.

Saw a few months ago that Arya would be the focus of S5

Tyrion is going to join Dany in the books, i certainly don't think he will take Quentyns role and get burnt to death. I think from now on we will see a lot of changes from the books. I just hope the whole Jon Snow thing happens!

Sorry, should have clarified. Didn't mean that Tyrion would die Quentyn's death, just that he would be the closest thing to Q's role in the books in looking to ally with Dany.
