You're just bitter he turned you down :)
What Anklebiter said.

I'm not bitter at all, we ended up with Tomlin so I'm not at all arsed.

According to L'Equipe, Russian Billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev is close to buying a 20% share in Reading FC. He's the guy who bought Monaco a few years ago and paid for Falcao, Rodriguez etc.

Fortunately/unfortunately it seems this is largely just to confirm an affiliation between the two clubs. But has to be a good thing when people are willing to invest into the club. Going to be interesting..

Totally missing the point of the photo but a few other points.... How fucking big is Steve Evans' blazer. Nearly as big as the bird on the left's phone in her back pocket, when did people start taking iPads on a night out? She's got some shoulder on her too.

Might interest some of you - but our owner, who normally never speaks out in public, has given a very honest and frank interview to one of our fanzines, and it makes for some pretty interesting reading.

http://beesotted.co.uk/?p=17667

We are so incredibly lucky to have him as the owner of the club.

Seems to be some strong rumours that Karanka has resigned.

Bizarre.

I don't see how he can possibly continue. Surely his position is untenable?

*I think the difference is also because fans don't see themselves as customers and {…} they go to the restaurants with their families every week and they go to the cinema but if they aren't satisfied with the product will they go and scream to the people in charge of it? No they don't, but they do it with a football club and that's very weird (meaning unique) because they feel a sense of ownership of a football club and that's a really difficult balance of how you try and engage with fans and make them, incorporated into some of the decisions of the club, {…}.

I have to admit I thought the Charlton situation was a bit exaggerated by you lot, you spent a few years in league one not that long ago after all. But after reading the bottom paragraph of that statement...I take it back. c***.

Does that CEO of yours understand there wouldn't be a Charlton Athletic if it wasn't for your fans? I hate this modern day bullshit where fans are seen as 'customers'. The fans have been there long before and long after the current ownership will have been and gone.

Quoted you in here Mark so as not to clog up two threads with the same thing.

She's a piece of work. She has been asked about fans before and how they formed a party and saved The Valley etc her response was that none of that matters because it's in the past.

Also, that quote. She did not mean 'unique' she meant weird, if she had meant unique that is what she would have said. What Mr Dutchâtelet conveniently excludes from that quote is after she claims we are weird and have a sense of ownership it's because fans only bring in a third of revenue through ticket sales.
What she doesn't realise is that fans play a vital role in the other two thirds, we buy merchandise, food, programmes etc. Without fans and an empty stadium we become less attractive to the TV cameras and sponsors. As this proves -

The comparison of our club to restaurants and cinemas is frankly, insulting. I wouldn't travel hundreds of miles to watch a film or go for a meal, I have not invested 20 years of my life to a cinema or restaurant. As someone quite rightly said after this interview came out 'Yes, I would complain if I went to a restaurant and had a bad meal and I would expect the management to listen'

She is just some lawyer who is completely out of her depth when trying to run a football club.

I think you're owned by Lamby

Beginning to think you could be right, his comments last night just proved he's on a wind-up though.

Not exaggerated at all I'm afraid to say. Yes, we were only recently in League One but we finished 9th in our first season back with Chris Powell and a solid team. These owners took over and decimated the lot.

That interview isn't all we've had to endure from Katrien Meire, it's a constant barrage of lies. Time and time again they make mistakes and time and time again all we hear are excuses and lies rather than any admission that they have cocked up. She claims we have made the right managerial decision every time, so I'm not sure how she can explain that we are now in a far worse position than when they took over.

They also mention these 'fans forums', for anyone that has seen the video of any of these will see they are counter productive. They're two hours of fans asking her difficult questions whilst she provides smug, sarcastic answers, even laughs at times and spends her whole time telling the same lies over and over and defending their decisions. The forums are a complete waste of everyone's time.

Sorry for the long post but tried to congest as much as I could.

Christ on a bike, I've a little time for Charlton given their woes in the 80s and early 90s and to see them being run like this is a fucking joke.

The previous board have to shoulder some blame, for getting too ambitious (Curbs leaving and the subsequent mess) and their handling of the fall out, were they not on the brink of admin in 2009? (maybe wrong).

This new bloke and his "ideas" are killing them though, buying third rate players from 5th rate leagues to try and sustain a club in the 2nd tier of English football is always destined to fail.

Reading those quotes makes me genuinely angry, just as a general football fan. I mean, even setting aside for a second the complete disregard for the fans, just from a business standpoint it's it's completely incompetent to invest in an industry you're so clueless about. Makes me wonder how they even got their money in the first place?

Anyway, best of luck Charlton getting rid of the parasites

Love this.

Mkat and Bristol players more interested in getting pissed than an impending relegation battle.

On the other hand Warnock and Blackwell have us working hard on the training field.
Their day off - they can do what they want.

Whilst there are a lot of factual inaccuracies about Curb's departure (which I won't get into as I know that's not what you're getting at) you're right, the way it was handled after he left was terrible, we chucked millions of pounds at Iain fucking Dowie to squander. We didn't learn any lessons as we then wasted parachute payments on high wages for shite like Izale McLeod, Luke Varney etc.

Yeah 2009 wasn't great and we were on the verge of being taken over by Arab billionaires who then pulled the plug at the last minute as they were 'concerned' about the recession and wanted to explore business opportunities elsewhere.

Roland has businesses away from football which I can only hope he runs far better than he does his football clubs.

It's not just us, Google Standard Liege protests to see just how far they went to get him out.

Day off?

I'd be concerned as to why their day off is a Tuesday leaving 3 days to prepare for a big game.

Fair enough Sunday and Monday but 3 days off? Someone's taking piss.

I hope they get 5 games ban like our lad did. Only difference was he was told by stewards he could piss there and then the incompetent c*** at the FA ban him and fine him £700. These lot will probably escape with a fine for chucking piss over people.

At least if they don't get banned it might help our appeal.

I don't know, nor am I arsed what the players schedules are during the week; I've just read that it was their day off yesterday and the majority of the squad went down to Cheltenham for the day.

I don't know about City, but for us it was scheduled as a team day out probably since May 3rd, we went last year and arguably gave us the morale and belief that got us promoted
