Probably a post which sums up how much its 50-50 with the fans on him comparing it to Andy and Kieran but personally happy with Crosby, 50% win rate over 20 plus games acting manager in 2 spells and well deserved, if I did well in my job covering someone I would expect to be considered for a promotion when the opportunity arrived.

Fans will say he won 1 in 4 but forget 2 of those where against sides that won auto promotion.

Worked for Plymouth so no reason it can't hear and a head coach suits the role better with the Director of Football model, glad its done and can focus on recruitment and planning now.

Well it worked for us. But the fanbase is still split in honesty.

No one will know until the season starts if it’s a bad decision- been a caretaker is different, pressure is off.
You can always pull the plug if you are in the bottom 4.

Yeah it’s not an exact science appointing a manager so will see how it goes. I just find it very Vale to have basically spent almost four weeks on this before then giving it to the assistant.

As with any managerial appointment it will succeed or fail by him being given the tools to succeed in recruitment. If it does great, if not we’ll be back in L2. Time for footballs David Brent in Flitcroft to do his stuff here and build the squad.

Worked with Plymouth so you never know, fans have been burnt in the past by appointing within ex legends but Crosby has a long career it’s not like chucking Dean Glover in charge or Michael Brown.

50 per cent of the fan base didn't want Crosby as manager. It will only take a poor start to the season and being in the bottom 4 after about 8 games and people will want him gone whereas Clarke was under no pressure to be sacked by fans.

The only positive I can take in appointing Crosby is that he worked as an assistant with Atkins and Clarke who have had lots of success so he will have learnt alot from them.

He’s popular and very well liked by the fan base, even the ones who don’t agree with it I think will get behind him and want him to do well.

It’s a gamble but so is spending 6 figures on getting a bigger name like we did with DC and if money is tighter then I’d rather than went on the squad.

I'm hoping Wednesday lose in the playoffs, sack Moore, and come in for their ex-player Ryan Lowe.

Unless things change tonight is the kind of score that could cost him his job.

See what Peterborough do with Ferguson now. Now McCann is at Donny he’ll probably have to start next season as manager.

Barry Bannan. The most overrated footballer of all time? He does all those pivots on the ball, like 'good' players, but what does he actually do? He postures like a good footballer but I watched him twice last season and he did very little. Looks the part though. 15k a week?

I always thought the same myself. In all our games against Wednesday he hasnt had too much influence as we always seem to have him marked and dent his influence. No doubt in highlights from games that he is very creative and gets things going. Doesn't help with being called Barry. Even if he was 20, being called Barry, you would assume he is past it!

Shhhhhhh need to keep quiet about how good he is :animatedf:

Do you think he'll be with us next season?

I hope he stays as he loves the club but we're not in a position to not accept a 'reasonable' offer !
Nah I think he will be off this summer, he will want to get into the Wales squad and they havent given him a shot while he has been here.
I just hope we get a decent fee for him, the only one we have ever got a decent fee for in the past is Ellis Harrison, the rest we practically gave away (Lambert, JCH, Snake)

Agree with you but we don't have a good record of getting what a player is worth.

His value has definitely gone down since the turn of the year and JB's price tag of £4M+ is total pie in the sky.

Anything above £2M would be great but I'd doubt we'd even get that!

Neil Critchley got the Blackpool job. Seem to love going back to former bosses they do. Not sure how long a leash he will have from their fans though after leaving the last time.

He got them up last time he was here and stabilised them for one season in the Championship, sometimes certain managers fit at certain clubs.

I had a feeling this might happen, also shuts down the noise that they wanted to get Wellens from us, after he used to play for them.

Yesterday our assistant manager Gary Waddock left the club. Bit out of the blue and none of us can quite figure out the reasoning except Bonner trying to freshen it up to avoid a repeat of the middle of last season.

Peterborough confirmed Ferguson on a three year deal. So we reckon around January for Grant McCann to come back?

They’re the gift that keeps giving at the moment. McAnthony wants out so their financial position is unclear, handing out a three year contract to a manager you’ve sacked three times previously isn’t exactly the best move financially.

It's all a bit embarrassing sacking your manager when the going gets tough but then reappointing him, again, later down the line. How have they not managed to identify more different managers to bring on board over the last few years between the Ferguson/McCann alternation?!

We have appointed Graham Alexander as head coach. I'm pleased with that. Young inexperienced 1st time managers haven't done us too well the last couple of appointments.

Oops, wrong forum :hb:
