Cotts was never going to work under a Director of Football - certainly one who has full control on player recruitment.

Bit of a risk from Shrews this. Cotterill has seemingly done a decent job there and will be a tough act to follow whoever takes charge. Got to think they have someone lined up for it or in mind at least.

The lad who we signed yesterday is only 18 . Cotts wasn't mentioned in the signing.Sadly this has been coming for quite a while. Our Chairman and Cotts have fallen out big time. On our Blue and Amber forum it's evident that us fans back Cotts.
He hasn't been sacked, appears to be a mutual parting and terms are currently being discussed.

Talks of tight budgets and sacking managers who have done pretty well. Has the hallmarks of Smurthwaite. I'd be worried about next season if I were a Shrews fan.

Myself personally, I’m not worried. I’m angry at how we’re treating Cotterill mind you. If we had a shambolic squad I’d be anxious, but we don’t. Whoever comes in has a solid base to work from.

Next appointment needs to be a bloody good one to get the fans back on side. There’s so many rumours flying about. Talk of Wilbraham getting the job and Dave Edwards coming in as his assistant. Wouldn’t be against that happening tbf.

Have to see if they get a lowly Portuguese manager and sign players from all corners of Europe to match Smurf levels!

Cotterill's Shrewsbury exit confirmed. Whoever replaces him will have a tough act to follow.

Cotterill’s departure was finally confirmed last night and the statement we put out was a shambles considering this man had managed us from his hospital bed where the doctors didn’t know whether he’d survive the night or not at one stage.

Onto the next manager… and there’s strong rumours that Roland wants to bring Paul Hurst back to the club. If we pay what Grimsby want, can’t see Hurst turning us down. Might be time to rename the walk way to the stadium back to ‘Paul Hurst Way’.

Gutted Cotterill has gone we always gave him a warm reception due to his dubious past.

The thing with Cotterill is he’d done a decent job there so I’m not sure in moving to the DOF model why they’ve tried to fix something that wasn’t broken? They’ve always seemed a sensibly run club so it’s a little strange to see them do this.

Cotterill will probably go right to the top of many lists for any vacancies that come up now.

Most likely just another BS Twitter account that claims to be ‘IKN’ with all football clubs.

He's locked into a contract with ourselves for another two seasons and won't be cheap if you want him from us - our owners apparently had to pay him a small fortune (By our standards) to get him to take the job last season when we was in the shit.

I'd be suprised if he moved to a similar size club to ourselves, especially one thats only just setting up a new footballing operation, when he knows the structure here, built the team here and whom he's worked well with these last 14 months.

Wellens will move from us to a much bigger club if he has good season with us next year, he still has to learn League One though after poor spells at Doncaster and Swindon.

Funny things happen in football though.

Poor statement from Shrewsbury on Cotterill given how relatively well he did for them.

Oh don't we know it. Absolute, and quite rightly so, venom towards our 82 year old 76% share holding Chairman on B&A.
Time for him to go, but he won't

His win rate was 33.57. Even Bartons is 37.8 and his team have only played well for about 8 months in 2 and a half seasons.
There is only one winner when you challenge the chairman

Tbf to Cotterill, he did manage four months from his hospital bed as well as that he had to inherit one of the shittest teams we’ve had courtesy of Sam Ricketts. To keep that lot up alone was a fantastic achievement. Barton also had 12 months managing in League 2 whereas Cotterill didn’t if you’re comparing across the board.

As for next manager, rumours of Eric Ramsay returning which would be a statement of intent. Can’t see it happening but that’s one way of getting the whole fanbase back on side. Praying the rumours are true!

As above, I think given where they were when he took over, with the squad they had and not massive finance to change things quickly, he did a good job. Even if that wasn't considered, I think it would have been a harsh statement if it was an appointment that hadn't worked out!

Schoey is fondly remember around here for our Brazil like 2006/07 season - well, up to around March anyway! But as good as we were in that period, we were stinking for the rest of his tenure.

Very well thought of as a coach, though.

He was a disaster for us, firstly as Martin Allen's assistant and then as a caretaker until Yates took over.

Good to hear that Maloney is sticking around, although he has been linked with Swansea so that probably isn't set in stone. We shouldn't concede many next season with him in charge.

Seems to be lots of noise around Duff and Swansea.

Has Russell Martin officially left Swansea yet? Last I saw Southampton were dicking about with the timing on it to reduce the compo payout. I think it’d be unfortunate if he did leave Barnsley though, you’d have thought next season is an excellent chance to get another promotion on his CV.

We’ve appointment Kevin Betsy as assistant manager.

It looks like a very astute appointment this one. Previously managed Arsenal U’23’s as well as England U’18’s.

Previously as Crawley as manager and Wigan as assistant but you can put a line through both of those.
