I didn't think you was that bad against us.

But with new owners in place in he had to start well.

We weren’t great though and we’ve got progressively worse.

Bizarrely, he’s their man. He was appointed in December when they were very close to buying the club the first time round.
What’s the feeling among Charlton fans on this one? From a distance it seems he’s being hung out to dry a bit for the owners not really spending much.

Very mixed reaction. I’m indifferent until I see who comes in. He’s a pretty poor manager to be honest so I’m not bothered he’s gone.

The thing with Holden is, he didn't inspire much confidence in his post match interviews. He's got PE teacher vibes. It's poor that he's only been given 5 games but it's probably a hangover from last season. Charlton are so naive in their defending it's embarrassing. The weekend being a case in point, where they went gung ho for the win and left woefully short at the back. Just take the point away from home...and that's on the manager to get that across.

Bang on the money.

I had a feeling yesterday this was close to happening. The line-up, formation, in game management, having Alfie May on long throws, all signs of a manager who’s lost the plot and desperately out of ideas.

They just seem to be in a rut and not able to get out of it.

Endless owners and changes in the squad and management but nothing changes.

Charlton could do a lot worse than appointing Steve Cotterill. I’m 100% certain he would turn the club around as a whole and get supporters back on side as they seem a bit distanced and disillusioned with their club from an outside looking in. Steve’s next job will either be a top end League 1 club or bottom half Championship club so it might become reality.

Holden sounded a lost man last weekend, his post match interview was bizarre to say the least.

He was moaning about our long throws (get well soon DJ!) and balls into the box.

Part of the game defend them! Charlton have made decent signings and should be doing better. Not surprised be this one.

Doubt he’d want to join a club where there is constant upheaval and unrest.

Odd. Could have sworn you all loved him when the players & management were giving it the big’un to the stands after scraping past us on the opening day :fish:

I just worry we will go for a cheap option, whoever that could be. Would love someone like Darren Moore but think he has more sense than to join the club in its current state. Saturday did feel like Holden was sending out some kind of statement with his team selection, it seems the new owners want to focus on bringing through youth and selling them on. Holden very much proved a team full of youth players are out there depth

May must be wondering what on earth he has signed up to.

That whole transfer situation was a bit of a red flag too. It was clear he wanted to move back closer to his family so we had a massive advantage but it sounds like we still nearly missed out to Gillingham and Bristol Rovers

It's been rumoured. It didn't end well for him here but he has been out of a job for a while and he is no stranger to working with a basket case of owners

Risky going back to an old manager. You could do with a proper recruitment process I reckon. I'm glad we did last season, regardless of the situation at the time which was worse than you currently, considering where we are now with Liam Manning.

The recruitment is done by somebody else anyway isn't it? So as long as those appointing know the type of manager they want (I assume one who likes to bring through/develop young players) then it isn't such a rush.

I doubt a new manager would be able to add much to recruitment in this transfer window anyway even if appointed before the deadline.

I'd expect Michael Appleton to be linked in the press because of Charlie Methane.

Oh this would be great as we still have to play them at home, and little squeaky would be a perfect pantomime villain

No, eats it often but portions are judged by the field.

He was never going to Bristol Rovers - he did spend a day at Derby though but then discovered they couldn't sign him for some reason.

Charlton linked with Challinor from Stockport and Brady from here. Hands off.

According to BBC it would seem Challinor is set to take over.

He’s worth taking a punt on IMO, his Fylde, Hartlepool and Stockport sides were all very well drilled and played good football.

Decent man as well, one you like being the face of your club as he speaks well.

I was thinking they might go for Wellens as well, but Wellens is on a tight long term contract here and still learning this level.

I'd be happy with Challinor tbh, has a good record everywhere he's been and his Stockport side battered us in the FA cup last season.
