Why would you piss it? You'd be even more fucked financially, your gates can't sustain Championship level football and they'd drop on relegation.

We're down to our core pretty much now after the past 5 years anyway. Venkys are billionaires and FFP works differently down there so they could invest as much as they wanted.

FFP is more stringent and you're out of parachute payments aren't you.

It's based on wages to turnover isn't it? This year's our last but season ticket price rises and player sales would fund that gap.

The only teams who have pissed it straight after relegation are Wolves & Norwich off the top of my head. Leeds, Forest, Southampton, Wednesday, Coventry and Sheff United have all struggled and are much bigger clubs.

Will be interesting to see how Blackburn's crowds are affected when their season tickets go up, don't think you can claim that you're down to your core yet. 21yr olds can still get one for about £150 can't they?

Leicester stormed it in 2008/9.

Seems like it was only yesterday when one of the most important goals (for both clubs) was rifled in in the 98th minute from Maxi Gradel to snatch a 2-2 draw at ours. We faltered after that and allowed Posh to nick second spot, Leicester went from strength to strength. We invented the term WABLO (we'll always be league one) that some of you may be familiar with. :) Leicester, well, I don't think anyone could have predicted this...

All but confirmed for us this afternoon I think, there is no chance that we'll finish above 3 sides.

Not sure we're entirely out of this, especially following our showing on Friday, but we should pick up enough points between now and the end of the season.

There's only 26 points between us and the bottom three now.
Squeaky bum time.

Things beginning to tighten up now. Reckon it'll be the current bottom 5 (MK,us,Rotherham,Bolton,Charlton) fighting to stay up towards the end of the season with us hopefully out of the fight by the final day. I reckon that MK, Bolton and Charlton will all go down. Us and Rotherham to stay up.

To be honest fair play to MK, I think they have arguably the worst squad in the division and they aren't in the bottom 3 (yet).

I admire your confidence, but we aren't going to stay up if we don't sort this problem of not scoring from open play.

Bit unfair to put Southampton in that category given that they amassed enough points to have finished in the top six in their first season at that level, but for the deduction, and they finished 2nd the following year.

I think we're ok now, 3 or 4 more wins maybe.

And us. We picked up 91 points in our first season...some of our players were so average that year too! Just seen we had 38,000 there on the last day of the season against Gillingham too. Blimey.Goes to show what can happen when everyone pulls together...couldn't be more splintered at the moment.

I don't think we do any more tbh, we've got rid of a lot of dead wood this window and strengthened it massively, our problem was we somehow managed to get unbelievable league 1 loans last year, and this year started off with a worse squad than we came up with, now as long as we can get a good few results together at the end of this month I think we'll surprise a few, we won't be out of it but I don't think we'll be in too much danger, especially if Rotherham continue this form with losing to everybody down near them

I'm thinking the main problem from open play at the moment is Kodija being continuously selfish. Not sure if that's down to not having a strike partner, or he's just given up on his team-mates. Having a poor run of form at the moment. If we can get him back on form then we are good.

I would say everyone up to and including Hudds is vulnerable at the moment, and i am basing that on current form as well. I still believe we are down however, if we get out of the bottoms three, I also believe that this would be the big kick these players need and would expect us to be safe. But we have to get out of the bottom three first

I actually fancy Bolton to stay up, their team isn't as bad as a few of the ones around them imo and certainly not bottom of the league material. I think they've found a little bit of belief over the last couple of weeks.

Hope they stay up anyway, send three of the southern c*** down.

We'll need at least seven wins to stand a chance of avoiding the drop, and even then I think someone will go down with 50+ points this season.

That (7 wins) is a big ask for any of the team's currently in the bottom five, but my concern with us is that we haven't looked like picking up any of the freak results that the others have managed (Bristol City beating Boro, Charlton beating Hull etc.) and we need to do that at some point soon. We can't rely on just picking up those wins against the teams around us as those are going to be massive pressure games over the next few weeks (Bristol City & Huddersfield at home and trips to Blackburn and Charlton). Assuming we get nothing from Boro on Tuesday and away to Derby Saturday then the pressure on us is going to start to mount by the time we go into that run of games.

I'd be amazed if a team goes down with 50pts this season, no one down there is doubling their current points tally in 17 games.

I can see Bolton staying up.

Rotherham and Charlton are done for IMO. After that it's anyones guess. Everytime I check the scores Bristol City seem to have got a decent result but everytime I check the league they're still there.
