So yes, he is pretty ancient.
You have to give him kudos for running a big senior level league at his age, even if you take umbrage at some of his decisions.

Hmmm... interesting stuff from our point of view about Enfield's potential 3 point deduction. Still we really need to win at Tonbridge Angels today to secure 4th place and an away tie at Margate in the play-off semi's. I'm delighted that we've picked up our form enough to make a mini recovery from what looked like one of the worst collapses ever (3 points in 8 games!) after we were looking like title challengers a couple of months ago.
A tie a Margate would be good for us as we've beaten them the last 5 times we've played and they're leaking goals like they've gone out of fashion! It would also give us a chance of a home tie in a play-off final if whoever finishes 5th managed to win at Hendon. Worst case scenario for us is that we lose and Enfield and Not Police win (which they both look likely to do today) and enfield are not deducted 3 points. That would see us miss out on the play-offs altogether which would be heartbreaking. (Cue: the world's smallest violin!)

Squeaked into the playoffs...

Don't give us much hope as the form has been terrible, but at least this season's collapse hasn't resulted in us falling out of the playoffs altogether.

Congratulations to Silver Stone, PLL and Raymondo on Maidstone United officially being crowned champions today, worthy winners and thanks for earning me £80 in the process. See you all in the Conference South next season.

I have to disagree with you Jim Bob! Our form was terrible (3 points in 8 matches), but we've won one and drawn 3 of our last four which includes beating Enfield (currently a play-off team) and draws with Hendon, Maidstone and today at Tonbridge. We've probably been the better side in the 3 drawn games and we looked very good today and really should have won. I think we have every chance in the play-offs. Add to that the fact that no side in the top 6 has beaten us this season and I wonder why you're quite so negative?

We're going up!!!!

why do all the good forum posters go get themselves promoted? First we lost Aber, now the Maidstone gang. Dulwich will probably go up in the play offs so that's PinknBlue gone too... The Hornchurch lot are going out the other way...

Looks like it's just me & PP representing the Isthmian Premier next year.

Forza Kingstonian!

I'm admittedly a naturally pessimistic football fan :D

How were the last ten mins after the Tonbridge equaliser? The laptop saw nervy refreshes aplenty...

What's going on with Enfield's possible docked points? Will it be Hendon v Plod in the playoffs?

What an amazing season, could bang on about highs/(relative) lows and emotional rollercoasters but going to stick to form and be lazy and throw up a gif.

Farcical for Enfield. Seems to me they have played a straight bat so let's hope they get the nod for the playoffs. Not that they will have much chance as it has to be between Hendon and Margate. (Cue promotion for DH!).

Ha, I hadn't even thought about it but this is an extremely good point. Why do these bastards keep deserting us, Paddy?

Many congrats to the Maidstone lot :) and many commiserations to the Urchins

Ok... but I can see a scenario happening: we get promoted while Maidstone, Wealdstone, Ebbsfleet, Sutton & Dulwich all exit the Conference South in whatever direction (hopefully downwards for Sutton), leaving me & PP to prop up the Conference South thread.

After all the arrogance/BBB i've seen from their fans & chairman i'm really hoping Margate dont go up

I still remember all the idiots claiming they would have the league won by March :fl:

So come on Dulwich, Hendon or Enfield make sure you keep them down

I'd have thought most clubs outside the play-off contenders would be hoping Margate go up on the assumption they'll just throw even more money at it next year leaving everyone else to fight for a play-off spot.
Possible of course that if they don't go up their money will dry up as their 6 year plan to get to the Barclays Premier League* will have failed at the first hurdle and those with the money will get bored, wander westwards towards Essex and start putting a 7 year plan together to get a recently relegated Ryman Prem side into the big time !

* I've made that bit up but presumably there is some sort of x year plan for progression up the ladder ....

Gutted to lose the Urchins from the Ryman Prem. Don't like to see a nice local derby disappear, and for the most part, a great bunch of people who love their club. Pretty sure they'll be back up sooner rather than later.
There was a spell on Saturday when it looked like we might be losing Canvey from the Premier as well, but things turned round (as they always seem to on the final day, just look at us v Bognor a year ago, we were 2-0 down after 25 minutes and staring relegation in the face but turned it round to win 4-2.)

Had a great day out at the Champions on Saturday, could well have ruined Maidstnes party, Sam Higgins thundering a first half pen against the upright and our keeper gifting them their third. Our boys formed a tunnel of honour to clap them onto the pitch before the game. Just a pity some jobsworth in a blazer refused to let our manager take our players back out onto the pitch at the end of the game, to congratulate them at the presentations. This after it had been agreed between the two managers.

Just hope the league and FA sort the ridiculous situation with Enfield out ASAP. (although I don't think the FA do ASAP !!!).

Just seen on twitter that Margate have postponed Thursday's play off game due to the Enfield situation.

FA are taking the piss with this just a little.

Edit: Enfield have postponed their game but they still think the other game is happening as planned :dk:

Farce

What a shambles by the FA

Why the heck has the Margate/Dulwich game been called off?? Absolute stupidity & just screws over the Dulwich fans who already made plans

Typical of the big knobs at the FA.

They just pay lip service to non-league (grass roots as they like to call it), and don't actually give a flying feck !!!

Would this have happened if it involved a Premier League or Football League Play off ?

I'm sure everyone on here knows the answer to that.

I assume this kind of end-of-season shenanigans is par for the course with non-league football?

The most damning thing about that is the lack of effective stewarding, kids and adults who should know better coming out of the woodwork for a local/playoff game and being complete twats is almost obligatory. However if something similar happened against Leatherhead the year prior then Folkestone should have had the resources in place to prevent a similar scenario taking place again.

I thought you were harsh saying you wouldn't ever go there again, regular supporters have told you these people only appear for 'big' games so there would be no trouble in a normal league fixture.

What is it about Kent clubs who play in amber and their 'supporters' throwing beer over opposition supporters? :shifty: ;)

Edit: Losing in the playoffs absolutely sucks.
