Apparently we've sold about 80 tickets in advance so would expect 100-150 at most

I am staggered we've managed to sell even half that in advance.

We generally travel pretty well given how many ridiculously lengthy treks we have to make, but 4-2 down, Thursday night, on Sky and a 330 mile round trip, no-one should have to go to that. Respect to every one of them.

Trekking down to London to watch us play in a giant, half-empty bowl against a fellow League One side in a final which is forgotten about 5 minutes after full-time. Hardly the stuff dreams are made of.... Bristol City would rape us anyway.

I remember the first time City got to Wembley mid 80's against Bolton in what was then the Freight Rover.

I can still feel the hairs on the back of my neck standing up as the teams came out and Drink up Thy Zider was ringing around the ground.

Mate, I take your point about the competition itself, but you can't knock the experience.

A great day out.....booked a 52 seater from my local, filled it with Natch and kidnapped half a dozen Bolton fans on the way home....dropped em off in Hungerford...

Personally, I thought the old Wembley had an aura about it which the new one doesn't. It was a shit hole but an awesome shit hole whereas the new one is an awesome stadium but no aura. It's just a very big stadium with the top tier miles away from the action.
Maybe the Saddlers supporters will feel like we did in 1986, should they make it, being their first time but the new Wembley isn't as inspiring as the old one IMHO. It felt like half of Bristol was on the M4 for the Bolton game!

Right, onto tonight.

I'm excited. As excited as I've been for a North End game for years! Not because I expect to get anything out of it, purely because I'm going with no expectation and to have a good piss-up and a great atmosphere!

For the actual game, if we get an early goal, I reckon Walsall will shit themselves and it will help us. If it gets to HT 0-0 or worse, we're fucked. I can't see us scoring 2 goals but you never know. We get anything out of this it is a massive bonus!

YELLOWS
How many fans you bringing down?

Edit - Just read SF's comment, sorry.

What like you did a few months ago at AG when your fans were preparing for a spanking?

I agree with some of the comments on the new, plastic, money zapping Wembley, but still, to see your team step out there be it in the JPT or the Champions League final is still a fantastic experience in itself.

Yeah fair play to the ones that make the trip. It won't be a record low for us at any rate, there were 78 of us at Hartlepool on a tuesday in about 2010 - spent about 14 hours on the coach that day!

Rooting for Preston purely as if Walsall get to the final that'll be another home Saturday game postponed!

I wish Walsall all the best and understand how nervous you lot must feel if you've never been to Wembley. We at Gills were like that when we got through to play Man City in the 1999 play off final ('kin Mark Halsey!!). We then went back the next year to beat Wigan to get into the championship, the 2009 play off final again against Shrewsbury was next which we won, fantastic days. So we were a bit spoilt by going to 3 finals in 10 years and obviously a Johnstone Paint Trophy final isn't anywhere near such a big prize as a play off final. Hence a bit of apathy our end..... plus the little matter of being 2 down already to the best team I've seen at Priestfield this year.

Not sure I can put up with much more of this, I keep thinking of Harry Enfield and his 'richer than thow' Brummie character when listening to this commentator. ;)

I'm actually lost for words, who plays 4-5-1 when you're two goals behind already?
