Stockport County.
Pagnell is a good guy but it looks to me here like he's doing a bit of a Rafa Benitez here and beginning to crack up under the pressure. Kopper and Todd are toying with him.

Klopp's done okay, I'd say. There was a clear upturn when he came in, then it leveled out, once Champions League had gone Klopp clearly used the league as a test for the youngsters with mixed results (Stoke 4-1...Swansea 1-3). The Europa League run was running on his personality more than anything, they ultimately fell short but based on their squad, they shouldn't really have been there.

With all the changes going on at other clubs it's going to be interesting to see how Liverpool fare, it could be quite an opportunity to impress themselves on the league. Equally, if the Manchester pair hit the ground running and Conte gets it right at Chelsea, Liverpool could find themselves as far away as ever.

You do remember when Rogers dropped Sakho for Lovren. He almost had Sakho out the door when he realised (and all of us did too) Lovren was the reason we were shipping goals. Rogers reversed his decision and dropped Lovren for Sakho. That's when our clean sheets started to appear.

Lovren could be decent at best. He will never be better than that. He had a boost under a new manager. Once that wears off Lovren will revert to type.
Rodgers played with one in front of the defense usually which did not suit Lovren at all and was a too open style for him. Also the fact he looked so ill at ease too, was because many a time he was playing with the utterly woeful Skrtel running around like a headless chicken constantly out of position, who finally thank fuck (after costing us the league) is on his way out. When Klopp has come in, he has put two in front of the defense and Lovren has looked far more assured and comfortable there and is better in that system than Sakho has shown at times. Now I'm perfectly happy with Sakho whenever he plays, but I do think he will struggle to get games this season when Matip comes in and Lovren switches back into his preferred position and the position the Sakho occupies. I even think that Lovren could be on for captain at this rate if Henderson is moved on.

Thats a fair point you make, and I'm optimistic that even if those clubs get it right quickly this season, I still think Liverpool will be in the mix. We wont be finishing as low as seventh or eighth imo with only the league and domestic cups to play for; we'll be hovering in the top five somewhere.

So we need 2 defensive midfielders to babysit Lovren as oppose to one defensive mid for Sakho. And Lovren's the better player you're telling me.

You know you're wrong, when your analysis contradicts your conclusion.

Some setups benefit different players, it's not a weakness. You don't rate Lovren it's clear to see despite him being by far Liverpool's best defender this last season. He's going to be getting more games than Sakho, you better get used to it.

Your best defender was Clyne. Or you on about CB's? Joe Gomez was good at fullback as well 'til his injury.

Clyne was our best defender over the entire season yep, but I guess it's because Lovren's upturn was more noticeable (he'd improved 2nd half of 14/15 but still was unreliable) and Clyne just was quietly good. Sakho had the best individual performances and Kolo showed he was reliable when called upon. Skrtel is a ruin. Gomez looks a real prospect but it may well take a good while to see how he's recovered.

Klopp improved the unit as a whole, but was again let down by individual errors, most commonly from the idiot LB and the coward in goal. Hopefully we can improve on them this summer, we already have in one case, although if we could find a way to implant a brain into Moreno he has some good qualities.

We also lacked a truly competent partner & understudy for Can. Henderson has the injury excuse but he was poor, Milner isn't good enough on the ball for that deeper role, Lucas is done since his injuries and it seems he's considered a CB now and Allen clearly isn't physically imposing enough by Klopp, despite him putting in some impressive performances. Grujic is a big bastard so that's one box ticked and he'll be used in the rotation, but I'd really rather like Dahoud next to Can next season...

I was genuinely satisfied when Liverpool lost the Capital One Cup and then even happier when they lost the Europa League. As a Stoke fan, I felt we deserved to go through in the second leg of our game, but thanks to some rather laughable refereeing and Mignolet pulling off a good penalty save, it was not to be.

Remembering the goal you scored in that 2nd leg, rather questionable wasn't it...

Apparently he called Balotelli and told him to join the pre-season, so it seems he is giving him a second chance.

You'd love any of the players we've signed so far.
Not arsed about Bailly. Ibra would've been bonkers and a bit mad, but he probably wouldn't fit in anyway. Annoyed at Mkhitaryan as Liverpool were in for him a few years back and he turned it down and he is a good player. Don't think he worked that well with Klopp at Dortmund though.

The pattern for Liverpool is going to be promising players that Klopp can develop, and he and his squad are pretty good at spotting players so I'm fine with that if the players that come in raise the standard of the squad and push Liverpool up the league table, even if we hadn't heard of half of them before they sign! :D And if thats the way he wants to do things, that should be fine with the fans as he knows what he's doing. It may not work if you lot, Chelsea, City and Arsenal are snapping up bigger names; but I think its the right way to do things currently as Liverpool can't compete in bidding wars for various reasons, and I think we can still be competitive doing it that way.

Seems that Liverpool have made a rash move in giving Jurgen Klopp the chance to get a longer contract. What if it goes wrong?

I'm happy we have Klopp but I would've extend his deal just yet. However, it was only a 3 year deal in the first place so adding a couple of years onto that wouldn't be ridiculous.
