8 changes for us

Richards
Adebisi Nolan Ng Johnson
Green Wintle Finney
Ainley Anene Dale

Despite the amount of changes still looks a pretty decent team to be fair. Interested to see hear how the two youngsters get on at full back. But fingers crossed for no injuries especially the two centre backs and Wintle who are key players.

Ten changes for the Stags, a bit like a reserve game.

Fraid not. You beat Burton over 90 minutes and you're through, regardless of what happens between us and Everton. Not sure what happens if you beat them via a shootout and Everton beat us.

Good news for us we didn't lose in 90 minutes, won via the shootout and will probably still not progress. Excellent, take the prize money and still go out.
someone pointed it out to me.
though we always lose on penalties in this instance I’m glad we’ve lost both games that way.

This cup is a joke and annoyingly we’ve progressed in recent years and hopefully we’ll get knocked out in the group stage this year

That's the problem, this was meant to be a competition for the Premier League 'Reserve' teams not ours. Why don't they just call it what it is; "EFL Reserve Team Trophy" (until it gets to the semi-final/final)

or they could just fuck the thing off all together.

We got 800 the other night, I bet the club actually runs at a loss in those games. It’s pointless.

Return it to the 48 - have 16 groups of 3 (8 in o north and south) the top 1 from each group goes through - so 8 in each side of the draw - qtrs semi and final - you’d win it playing 5 games.

Sorted

you’d have 2 games in the group stage a qtr semi and final. Or am I missing something (the semi final should be one leg too if that’s the extra game)

that’s my point, if 16 teams go through but are split north and south there would be 8 in each and no round of 16.

It’s only hypocritical anyway and won’t ever happen as we’re stuck with these stupid B sides now

Yeah so would have

Area QF
Area SF
Area F
Final

It’s not a bad idea, or even having 16 non league sides in to make it better, at least you’d get to play someone different.

I wonder how the PL sides are viewing this three years into it. Many of them only play three games and end up getting beaten by league one and two reserve sides. They must be wondering what their academies are doing.
And let's face it, the ONLY reason league sides support it is the money.

While your all having your cornflakes this morning --Please spare a thought for one loan Blackpool fan that's just left Bridgwater station for an incredible journey up north to Carlisle for tonights game. For anyone who doesn't know where Bridgwater is . It is about 200 miles south of Blackpool. Now is that dedication or plain stupidity ?

As it’s the checkatwat trophy then it’s plain stupidity.

Sounds like (s)he was probably a mushroom, considering how keen (s)he is to travel that far to be a scab.

Our reserves beat Blackpool reserves 2-1 in the Reserves and B team trophy.

Just watched the goals, all a little bit mental. Blackpool went in front when Louis Gray proper Massimo Taibi'd a tame shot. Ryan Loft scored a decent goal with the help of a big deflection after some good link-up play with Elias Sorensen; then late on in the game Canice Carroll scored an absolute worldy thirty-yarder.

911 in attendance, a ridiculous 216 from Blackpool

That is ace! Must be our lowest ever?
Lowest is 248 against Sunderland u21’s apparently according to someone on Twitter but last night is more impressive in my opinion as season ticket holders were allowed in for free and still hardly any bothered.

22 Leicester fans in that 341. I can only assume these fans lived locally or they were the parents of the kids playing as Leicester first team were playing far closer to home at Burton last night.

You know what's sad? Some fans fork out a tenner to stream the game on ifollow. In my eyes that's even worse than going to the match. Most fans that do go only do so as they're ones that never miss a home game, and they're bound to go whether they like it or not.

But shelling out a tenner to stream some meaningless game in this joke of a cup is my definition of a football saddo. Not only that, but when one thinks about it, they're the biggest supporters of this cup. That's right, they're contributing more than the fans in the stands.

I wouldn’t pay for the Checkatrade games apart from the Stoke one. It’s as much as the ticket to go! First season when that was trialing IFollow it was a fiver for the games in that cup.
