Very good player when he's fit. The problem is, he's rarely ever fit.

Smith pointed that out. He was training with us last season but wasn't fit, he's been with us this entire pre-season and has proven his fitness to Smith. Chambers, Mantom and Osbourne actually looks a good central midfield. Considering we kept the entire squad together this summer and have actually recruited very well - we may actually have a real opportunity to do something this season. The midfield looks very strong. Henry, Lalkovic, Forde, Cook, Bradshaw, Sawyers, Morris, Baxendale is a very capable front 3/4. If we can get cover at right back, this is probably the biggest squad with real options and backups I can remember.

Que form drop and 800 injuries.

Osbourne is one of those ' enigmas' . Clearly better than L1 level but rarely actually shows it on the pitch, no brainer though for Walsall, the Chelsea game will cover his salary anyway.

I may have missed it, but I wasn't aware that Barnsley have signed Simeone Jackson until January.
Don't really know what to make of it. He was good for us when he was here, but that was a long time ago and apparently he has been pretty shit since then.

Ojamaa signed according to the beeb.

So in the last couple of days we've swapped Nathan Byrne, Michael Smith and Miles Storey for Nicky Ajose, Wes Thomas and Henrik Ojamaa.

Good business I reckon.

You'll be surprised how little we make from it. If it was on TV it would've been a much better figure.

Great addition I'd say anyway, hopefully his fitness worries are behind him and he can show everyone what he's about, obvious talent. Big lad too which we need, severely lack height.

With 500k for the Byrne deal and something. For Smith (maybe 300k or so) and replacing them with Ajose, Thomas and Ojamaa I finally think we might have a goal threat in this side. When Obika, Hylton and Jordan Stewart are fit we have a lot of attacking options, something you couldn't say against Sheff Utd when we had Smith and Storey who were about as useful as a one-legged man in an arse kicking competition.

How long has he got on his current deal?
You would be better off starting some sort of auction for him because if it goes to compensation you will end up with a fraction of what he is worth.
I have seen the lad play a few times and he is as good as I have seen outside the Premier League.

This is the last year of his deal which is why I'm very surprised we didn't sell him this summer. We were holding out for a larger fee from QPR it might just go and bite us in the arse that they went and got Smithies but we will get compensation if he does go this summer because of his age. As for him I'm pretty sure he's going all the way to the top he is a class act.

Blimey Matt, very negative view from you

Not really, it's a fair summation of the position in my opinion.

In Mellon's own words, we're not as good as we were two weeks ago (referring to the loss of Goldson and Woods).

Well two weeks ago we weren't very good so that is a concern given we've only brought in one untried youngster to balance the loss of those two players. In my view the squad was short of quality at the start of the season in key areas, it's now shorter on quality and the transfer window is closed.

The extra £2million in the bank is great in terms of securing the long term future of the club, but Mellon can't use what small part of that he'll get to strengthen the squad until January and January may be too late. I hope not as I don't want Town to be the richest club in League 2 next season. I want us to secure our League 1 status this season by having a better go at it than in the last two attempts, at this stage I'm not convinced that is going to happen though.

We have just confirmed the signing on a one year deal of Marc Antoine Fortune.
I know he's 34 but we desperately need a physical presence so Armstrong can feed off them. I'm pleased with this and all we need in my opinion is a new keeper and perhaps a temp loan for a midfielder until Maddison comes back.

I think he'll be a good signing, we needed a strong targetman to help free up some of the players around him. Won't score many but if the games so far are anything to go by, we have others that can make up.

I can't see us getting a keeper but another couple of midfielders would be good. Squad is still very thin, even more so since we have a few injuries and a few away on international duty.

Millwall have got Kyle Spence on trial. I know about as much as you. I think he played a few minutes in the JPT, got offered a pro contract but didn't take it up. There's someone who watches the youngsters a lot on our forum and he said he has serious attitude problems and wanted a move back to London.

We're being linked with Ryan Kent now
Jamie Clapham strikes again! Mogga's right hand man has the contacts. He was supposed to go to the Championship on loan but it looks like he will be heading up to the Midlands to play in Mowbray's 'entertainers'.

Ryan Kent would be an outstanding signing. We were in for him but are maxed out with loans.

Too good for L1 TBH.

Maybe we'll sneak in and pinch him like Ajose!

Also rumoured to be close to loan signing of Alex Gilliead a young winger from Newcastle whose played a lot with Armstrong so if we get those two we will have one fantastic looking team.

Mowbray is master at using his contacts to the full
