To be fair, loads of opposition fans claimed Kevin Davies was on loads here when he wasn't. He'd already made his money but wanted a club close to home where he had a bit of freedom to do a bit of media work.

This is what Cole wanted (minus the media work)

I know he was at Villa but Cole is a London boy so I doubt very much that location had much to do with it.
Can't even get decent Pie 'n' Mash and Eels up there FFS!

Town closing in on Kyle Vassell from Posh, preparations for next season's League 2 campaign going well by the look of it.

Are we still 'loan FC' or whatever?

Always believe in Joe Cole!

Sorry to be a pedant, but you've started to follow DionHead or DH84's trend of using full stops to end questions

He wants to be just like me. I can't blame him myself

Please with that. We've lacked a bit of pace, aside from Fred who blows very hot and cold.

We have rejected a bid from a unnamed championship club for Tom Bradshaw.

Darragh MacAnthony just did one of his Twitter press conferences and apparently he has turned down several "multi-million pound" offers from clubs in the Championship

What is going on at Shrews? Our reporter says basically your whole team is available for loan or transfer?

Power needs a few aces up his sleeve this window if we're to prevent sliding back down the table.

Slightly concerning. El Abd permanent would be a good place to start.

Just explained our current situation in the League 2 section, which i'll paste into here

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't post on here very often but thought I'd mention the reason as to why everyone's leaving us at the moment.

We're not skint, we've actually got the 9th highest budget in League 1 according to our CEO. When we got promoted last season, almost our whole squad had a 20% pay rise which Mellon didn't even know about, I know BIZARRE!!! That limited us to signings in the summer, so we ended up scrapping the barrel e.g. Junior Brown, Matt Tootle, Shaun Whalley etc.

So now we have to sell some of those players that had a pay rise, such as Collins, Barnett, Ellis and Lawrence in order to actually sign some decent players to get out of this mess that we find ourselves in. After the embarrassment last weekend, we've allegedly placed our whole squad up for transfer or loan as we want to start fresh, wouldn't be so bad if it was May, but we're in January ffs!!

Don't get me wrong, our team is absolutely shambolic, but starting from fresh in January is either going to be a masterclass or a complete disaster (most likely the latter).

Anyway we shall see, a huge month in the clubs history with what's happening but we're certainly not in any money trouble (one of the few clubs in the FL to own their ground) for a start.

All the best to all teams in League 2 for the next 6 months, just hope that we're not joining you lot next year

OUT
Collins to Northampton on loan (disappointed with this)
Lawrence to Bristol Rovers (permanent)
Ellis to Carlisle (permanent)
Barnett to Southend on loan (please sign him on a permanent)

IN
Mangan comes back from Tranmere (not sure his knees will hold out but knows where the goal his)
Grimmer on loan from Fulham (had a really good spell first time with us)
Cole loan extended to end of season also from Fulham (pleased with that)
Vassal from Posh (Not sure about this one)

Richie Wellens confirmed

The other outgoing player is Liam McAlinden whose loan is up and he has returned to Wolves.

I pretty much agree with the assessment above, Collins being the biggest disappointment for me of those who have left. The remainder of those who have left have been bench warmers.

Richie Wellens is an interesting one.

Mellon said he wants to bring in League 1 ready players and, on the face of it, he definitely fits that bill. Possibly the only one of the new faces signed this week that actually does, although Grimmer is a fine player who I have no doubts over.

However, Wellens has not played much football of late and is a little older than the man he is a direct replacement for, Liam Lawrence. It could work out well if he can quickly get up to speed or it could end up like the loan of Keith Southern from Blackpool last season which worked out very badly and who could be said to be a similar player.

Something definitely had to be done, but I'm not any more confident at this stage that relegation will be avoided. Adding Whitbread and Gerrard to the list of additions will help in that regard.

Laughable. If Washington is more than £3m than Bradshaw who is the same age and has a better goals to game ratio in this division would be at the very least £2m.
