Yup. You've got it in one. It doesn't make any sense which is the most bullshittingly bullshit thing about this whole thing.

FPP isn't an excuse because we've probably had to pay most of his contract up. Additionally had a £100k bid for Luke Gambin at Barnet, the fee and wages would cost more than Cox's contract for the remainder of the season.

Robert Molenaar Dean Cox was under contract at the close of the transfer window, so therefore can not signed until January.
I know this sounds silly considering his quality but do you think he might take a short term deal in the conference just to keep playing?

Considering he spent most of last season out with an ACL I imagine he just wants to play football. If he took a 3 month deal with a Dagenham, Bromley or Sutton I wouldn't in the least bit be surprised. Guess a lot will come down to whether Charlton (or his future club) want to risk injury.

Confirmed that Cox cannot join another club till January - So our owner has fucked him over, the c***.

Will be a great signing for anyone at this level, don't be suprised if he ends up back at Charlton with Russell Slade though.

Am I right in saying that the highest level he can play at is conference?. I know Adam Lockwood had a similar problem before we signed him, bury had released him outside of the transfer window so he couldn't sign for a football league team until January. He therefore ended up at guiseley for a few months.

So your chairman has just basically paid someone to not play for you (or anyone else) for three months.

That's batshit crazy

He would absolutely destroy the conference. How are you anyway? Miss chatting to you.

Yeah. Basically. Batshit crazy is the word(s). To think when he came in we'd just lost the play off final on penalties after finishing third to stupidly strong Wolves and Brentford units. Seems like an absolute life time ago. Crowds this season are down by approx 25% compared to last so far.

I'm good mate. Contract at my weekly work is up in two weeks, they want to renew it but I think I'm going to politely decline, spent the last week agonising over whether I should stay on or not. How is the land of Aber?

I think you can register 'free transfer' out of contract players at any point of the season can't you? I know that was the case for Premier League sides.

As I understand it, the answer is yes as long as that player became out of contract during a period when a transfer window was open. Hence the reason why Dean Cox now cannot sign for another club until the transfer window next re-opens in January.

All good, bit gutted about not getting Cox and Simpson  . Did you get the birthday card? I might switch to pm to avoid "spamming" this extra important thread.

Gillingham fans, rumours on Twitter on deadline day said that we had lined up Jake Hessenthaler on loan but Gills pulled the deal...?

Doesn't he play fairly regularly for you, if so expect this was bollocks.

Barely played this season, we have a silly amount of midfielders ahead of him unfortunately. We all expected him to leave on loan, not sure he'll get much game time this season which isn't great for the kid, he's not a bad player!

Jake is easily good enough for League 1.
Feel a bit sorry for the lad because at the moment, when all are fit, he is competing with Dack, Wagstaff, O'hara, Wright, Byrne, Knott and Osadebe for a midfield slot.

We were warned he was well past his best when he was signed in January, but Mellon still gave him an 18 month contract. :err: He was then transfer listed this summer and there has been no reported interest. Just another in an ever growing list of players signed by Mellon whose contracts have been terminated early.

Definitely not the player he once was. He might get a League 2 club but I wouldn't be surprised to see him drop down to the Conference (or whatever it's called these days).

Signed for Salford City.

Cheers, shame it never happened (assuming there was any truth) as we're crying out for another midfielder.

Apparently when it fell through we got Jack Stacey from Reading instead. I like the look of him but he's more of a winger, which we have a number of....great work Tisdale.

Wilder interested in two free agents. Chris Burke has been pictured training with us (what's he like these days?) the other rumoured to be Reece Brown.

Dean Cox has been contacted by Us (MK Dons), Portsmouth and Crawley. Seems to favour a move to Crawley due to location.

I'd hope we were in for him if he wants to stay relatively local

Think it's common knowledge Cox won't move far, he could do far better than Crawley though.

Wasn't Cox supposedly on very high wages at Orient hence the reason they had to let him go? Can Crawley even afford big wages anymore?

Not sure with Crawley think their budget has been rained back a hell of a lot but these new Turkish owners may be investing a bit more. Their signings this summer were mainly cheap foreign imports and young lads from Chelsea's academy that had been released, but can't imagine James Collins is on peanuts.
