I can genuinely never remember a more boring off-season for us in terms of signings. A couple of Scottish full backs, a centre back from Crewe and another 1 on loan from Sheffield United, all topped off by a goalkeeper that the Carlisle fans nick named 'lettuce hands'. When you add that to board room issues, no forward players being signed despite this apparently being our 'biggest budget ever in league 1' and bigger than the season when we finished 3rd.

We had fans 'fighting' with each other at the meet the board meeting the other evening, we have a manager who is not only clueless, but tactically naive and idiotic in the media. He has alienated all of his senior pro's except for Adam Chambers who is probably just happy to stick it out and work hard. We have spent the entire summer trying to find 'budget' to pay our young back up Centre back Matt Preston a better wage (his current contract offer from us is being beaten by Tamworth to put it into perspective) only for the board and Whitney to tell us that we have cash set aside for a forward and there's a good portion of budget left? Come monday afternoon Whitney tells us that James O'Connor isn't part of his plans (very steady senior pro, well respected and liked around the club by fans and the club itself) even though he lied and told us he had been injured in pre-season and denied there had been a falling out. This being quite clearly to move the budget around that apparently has a lot more space in it, to bring a forward player in - when we have been told by the board there's money set side anyway?

When you had that to the fact our chief executive used phrases such as 'it felt at right at the time' when questioned about giving Whitney a 3 year deal, then used the term 'naive' when describing his interviews with the press - you can imagine there's not many happy campers at the Bescot currently. The team looks okay in terms of starting XI, but woefully lacks goals, creativity and pace. There's no squad depth and a few of our first XI are either inexperienced, over the hill or constantly injured.

There is dissent from players to managers, fans upset with the board and wanting the manager sacked, we have board room confusion between directors and owner, between fans and directors, between directors and management. All this with a naive 'chancer' of a manager, a pathetic 'squad' and a season that rides on the hopes that Erhun Oztumer doesn't get injured and the thoroughly woeful Simeon Jackson rolls back the years and miracolously poaches enough goals to ensure we win enough games to get 50 points.

It's dire from top to bottom, we have had the worst off-season in the entire division by an absolute mile.

We will go down this season unless we see drastic early change and some forward players added to the squad.

At least we won't finish bottom then :brill:

We're now being linked with Tom Hopper. What's he like Scunny fans?
Divides opinion but I think he’s absolute class. He doesn’t score many but he does the dirty work and makes it easier for everyone else. It’s not surprise when we were doing well he was our starting striker. We need to keep him.

Our obsession with bringing in Crooks and Toney (which we haven’t got either) has ruined our summer. We’re in big trouble this season.

We played 4-3-3 early on last season and were unplayable at times. Hopper played a big part playing target man up top. He is surprisingly quick and I like him in that formation and would keep him for the times we go to a 4-3-3. He is a poor finisher, but as Don says he helps out with much of the grunt work. From what I've read, Hopper is deciding on the move after a bid was accepted.

We don't look strong enough for a promotion challenge this season. In that sense, I agree that we are in trouble. We have a mid-table look about us.

We are being linked with Tom Field on loan. A left back who played 16 times for Brentford last season.

16 times?

That's enough to tempt me into enquiring about ticket prices for the positive bus.

We've confirmed Amadou Ba on a 2 year deal after impressing on trial. Out of Le Havre academy same academy that has produced Pogba, Payet, Lass Diarra and Mahrez so watch out!

Toney having a medical today, sorry Scunny fans.

SMH, care to speculate how this might impact on Kaiyne Woolery's emmediate future with you?

Apparently FGR are keen to loan (or buy) him for another season? (as are others).

He'll be away no doubt about it, most likely on loan. I wouldn't rule out a permanent deal either if the money was right. Last I heard Swindon were favourites for a loan a few weeks back. No idea if that's still the case.

OK cheers, is that perceived as ambition or money regarding Swindon as favourites.
From a pure footballing point of view FGR may offer more in the long run. Depends if it's club or player making the decisions perhaps.
I think we may have put money aside for Kaiyne.

It's perceived as David Flitcroft having a mate or two within the club and using the media to give Woolery and ourselves a good arse licking to curry favour. Ultimately I expect any deal will come down to the usual common denominator...money.

OK thanks, Good insight, didn't realise Flitcroft had mates at yours.
Lets hope Kaiyne knows what's good for him. :cool1:

So now it does actually look like Rochdale are signing Matt Done from Blades, good signing.

If Flicker is good at anything it's licking arse. Especially Keith Hills.

We've signed Ricardinho, a 32 yo Brazilian attacking left back. Last playing for Qabala in the Azerbaijan Premier Lg (or whatever it is called) and the Europa Lg. Played over 200 games for Malmö including in the Champions Lg and Europa Lg and over 100 games for Coritiba in his native Brazil.

In the photo on the club website he looks 50! Pep has worked with him before and supposedly according to HITC we beat Championship sides to his signature. I haven't a clue who he is or what he will be like so it will either be a masterstroke or a train crash.

Vincelot has signed a new 2 year contract, great news for us considering some of the experience we have lost. His agent played a blinder playing Scunthorpe against us to force the clubs hand, fair play.

The hunt for a CB continues however.

Hello Oldham fans,
what's Aiden O'Neill like? We've just taken him on a season-long loan.

I may be missing a gag here?

He played for Qabala (look on Soccerway) which may or may not be the local spelling.

Ignore me, I misread 'Azerbaijan premier league'. Skimmed across it thinking it was one of those Arabian leagues so couldn't understand why he would be in the Europa League!

Rob Kiernan confirmed 3 year deal with option of 4th for an undisclosed fee from Rangers. We paid money for someone... I might faint.

Doesn't seem like he had the best of times at Rangers but when he was a loanee here he was a class act. Can imagine Ibrox isn't the most forgiving of places hopefully a move here close to home will do him good.

Matt Done re-signs for Dale. Great signing for them. Could push them closer to a P/O position this season.

Sounds like the arselicking hasn't paid off. FGR have made a bid and a deal is close. You must have some good wonga because we paid 6 figures and the bid is more than what we paid.
