Payne played his first game for us last night against Sheff Utd - he scored and ran the show.
A bit exaggerated Firthy(but I like it). I sat in the City defensive half and in the first half saw virtually all of the play in front of me. The Blades passing and movement was a delight and Fleck seemed like a magnet. Payne was very good though, especially when we came more into the game in the 2nd half.

We've signed Jamie Mackie on a 2 year deal. Depends if he has got over his injuries; if so we have a very good player, if not it will seem like last season again.

Mackie is a risky move.

33 years old, two year deal. Hasn't played more than 19 games in a season for three years.

If it's the guy who played for Reading, he was certainly good against us 3 years ago and those stats will compare to Sean Scannell

Resigned Anton Walkes on a permanent deal from spurs. Was really good on loan last season. Can play RB, or Anchor man. Marked both Oztumer and Powell very well in both those games. Massive part in missing out on the playoffs was his injury. Only 21. Gonna be a very good player

Sounds like reading between the lines from Jonesy’s Monday interview, were going to lose Dan Potts at some point with him yet to sign a new contract and entering his final year. If we can get £750k for him I’ll be happy.

Will be interesting to see how the last couple of weeks of this transfer window pans out with it closing considerably earlier than previous seasons. That said, the loan window (“with a view”) doesn’t close until the end of August. At least you’ll have time to get a replacement in and not left high and dry on deadline day.

Nathan Jones was at our game against Aldershot on Tuesday night (same time as you had a side out against Oxford City). Seems an odd thing for him to do. Any ideas why?

No idea. I know we have a young defender on trial at Aldershot with a view to a long term loan. Perhaps he's looking at an OU player? But also he may have taken the opportunity to scout a team that we should be competing with this season.

Sunderland have yet another bid rejected for Eisa. gloucestershirelive paper who have been reporting on the saga have said we are now pole position to sign him and expect it to be sorted within the next 48 hours. Just hope one way or another Eisa moves somewhere, so the other club can get on with their other targets!! Not sure the sunderland chairman has done them any favourites by being so public about it.

Sunderland are apparently happy with our valuation of Wyke but still haven’t paid it.

We are being linked with Jem Karacan.

It’s also believed that we are signing Sam Smith (Reading) and Marcus Browne (West Ham) on season long loans.

Sean Longstaff deal as been put on loan. Was supposed to sign today, but Newcastle have pulled the plug and asked us to wait 2 weeks. We are lining up Marcus Tavernier, England u19 winger from 'boro on loan

We are close to signing 22 year old Huddersfield left back Tareiq Holmes-Dennis. He was on loan at Pompey last season but only played 1 game before getting injured. He has also had brief spells at Charlton, Oxford and Plymouth. Huddersfield apparently paid £500k to sign him from Charlton 2 seasons ago.

He was a big hope for us last season. Looked classy pre-season and then picked up a nasty injury in the first half of the first game, putting him out for the year. Here's hoping he has better luck with the Gas and gets his career back on track.

Thanks. Quite ironic really considering you've signed Lee Brown from us. Who knows if Tareiq hadn't got injured, he might still be with you and Lee Brown might still be with us!

Vincelot goes to Crawley. Will be a decent signing for them if he rekindles some form. But he was going to struggle to play regularly at ours looking at the signings we’ve made. Colin Doyle goes to Hearts, won’t comment as I will no doubt get in trouble if I criticise the standard of Scottish football.

HITC have linked us with Ricky Holmes. And they were right about Jem Karacan as Karl Robinson has confirmed we're in talks, whether we get him though we'll find out.

Apparently we had a "6ft+ midfield powerhouse" in for talks yesterday as well but absolutely no clue who that is.

I'd be pleased with getting Holmes and Karacan in to be fair...

Word in the Wig & Pen is the 6ft+ midfielder is Yaya Toure

12 new faces now, Collins in today's paper has said we are working on a few others, we need strikers and we've been linked with Matty Lund as well.

Also some expected to leave, obviously one will probably be Wyke.

Happy with the business so far, streets ahead of last year.

Leeds are now in for Mohamed Eisa as well. It was looking like we'd edged out Sunderland but this is a new ball game altogether. Time for us to look elsewhere I reckon.

Latest Town signing is keeper Steve Arnold from Barrow who was understudy keeper at Gillingham last season. John Askey appears to know a lot of him and rate him highly so we'll see how it goes, but there is still another keeper to come in and likely to be a loan from a higher division club.

Callum McManaman gone back to Wigan. It would be nice if we could get some bids accepted sometime soon.

You need to stop messing about with us bidding poultry sums, your new chairman seems to think us smaller clubs will just have our tummies tickled and accept any old shite.

I'd be thinking why Sunderland are unable to attract players?

We have seemingly gone from paying too much for players to not paying enough. We are in desperate need of attackers right now so hopefully there's some irons in the fire or we'll be playing for 0-0 draws come August.

Think the big time charlies of League One and Two are too proud to take in the delights of the Sunderland Airshow and the theater where Sid James suffered a heart attack. We have new seats in the stadium, what more do they want!? :dis:

We're probably skint again and the Khazri money has gone towards our new owners internet bill.
