This isn't a WUM at all...

Bury are gonna be fucked in a few years. Clarke will be earning an absolute packet, and a fucking 3yr deal?

Crikey.

It's seems reasonable to suggest that Bury were only able to get him because they were offering a three-year-deal. I think it's a little unlikely he'll be on a great deal more than the average for this division.

Portugal as the Football League AGM is being held over there.

Not sure if you're on a wind up re Hanson - he's only 27, not sure you can really call that ageing? Whilst he certainly isn't what you'd call top drawer, many of us think he could do a job for some Championship clubs with some better quality players around him, rather than in what last season was generally a hard working team but not overly creative.

He's given higher league/top level defenders nightmares whenever we've played them - for the sort of job you'd have him in the team for, you'll struggle to find anyone better to play at this level IMO.

28 in a few months, so he'd be pushing 30 by the end of any potential contract with us. We'll have to pay in the region of £400-700k to secure his services and, as you said, he isn't prolific, so he'll have negligible resale value.

He is Gary Alexander Mk. II. That is not an insult, but those players are not worth real money. £100-£200k, well that's a different matter.

Mmm-Bop is a pretty decent shout at L1.

Could do a similar job that Wilbraham did for Brizzle City last year, given the right support/partner.

Bury have joined the race for Tom Pope according to our local rag.

Another 30 year old? Doubt it. We have Clarke, Lowe, Rose and Hope. That's still with Nardiello to possible still sign and a decent youth teamer in the background.

I wouldn't say he's any better than what we've got. I'd be disappointed if we signed him.

Yes he would, but even at touching 30 by then I'd still disagree with the ageing comment TBH.

Anyway, a big if, but if by then he's helped you back into the Championship and is playing regularly, then surely there would be resale value? Not millions I'll agree but still. You're right in that we'll be expecting a good fee though.

Whilst not overly prolific, he has hit double figures every season bar one (and even then he got 9!) since becoming a pro and, in a team which recently isn't exactly known for being high-scoring, I'd say that's broadly decent given how we've generally used him i.e. target man, more than us expecting to get 20+ a season from him.

No idea of your team set up, but I think if you put him in a more attacking side than ours, with decent wide players to create the chances, then he'd get a decent haul each season. However, if you're searching for someone to potentially create a number of goals on his own, you're probably looking in the wrong place.

He splits opinion here to a degree as some feel we revert to being too direct with him in the team, but I do think that most would ultimately be disappointed to see him go.

According the Kent Online (AKA 'The Bollocks'), Max Ehmer is trying to negotiate a settlement on his contract with QPR, and we head the 'queue' trying to sign him up. Would be delighted if we got him, as he and Egan have the potential to be one of the best centre back pairings in this league. I have a horrible feeling he'll 'Do a Marquis' and go elsewhere though.

I'd take Ehmer at North End on a freebie, we need a verstaile replacement for Jack King.

You get out.

He'd be guaranteed first team football here, I doubt he would be at any Championship club, so that could sway it our way.

Yep, he's shit apart from maybe 3 games per season. I was fully expecting him to drop back down to the Conference, for him to get an offer a league above is really quite remarkable.

Elokobi linked with Bury, terrific desire and character but a limited footballer.

Says a lot about how much Bury have to offer if they do get Elokobi, as he turned down a contract at Oldham, and there wouldn't be any other reason to sway towards joining Bury rather than Oldham.

Apart from the training ground and it being much much warmer for home games.

He was offered reduced terms due to him missing half the season with a recurring injury which if fair enough imo, i'm guessing Bury may have matched what we paid him last season.

We've signed Isaac Assenso from Leeds, supposedly a CM.

Never heard of the lad in my life.

That's the second 18-year signed on a 1-year deal for their first professional contract. I've read he was on trial earlier in the season, which means that he must have impressed the management. I think it's a good signing. Chance to see the potential first hand, knowing that we are not paying much for his performances, plus having him on contract in case he comes through and challenges for a start or the bench. We know about the other 18 year old (Levi Sutton) as he has been with us for 10 years.

Think that's a bit harsh on him. Yes, he's very inconsistent; I've described him in the past as a 1 in 6 player. However, I think he has 'something about him' - if he gets his head right he could be an asset. But inconsistency epitomises a non league winger.

Well, its not very old, simple as that really.
Seriously though El Abd, McNulty, P. Clarke, Nardiello , L. Clarke , and Ryan (Grandad) Lowe, all in their 30's and I read that Tom pope is on the Bury wanted list as well, seems all very short term and not cheap investment either!

Surely it must concern Bury fans to some extent?

A 1 in 6 player that's good, I see we are about to sign Whalley who has been rated as a 1 in 7 player on your Outlaws site (was that you?)

Your assessment on Whalley might be correct in the long term but when Whalley came on as sub for the last 15 mins in the game at Luton last season he murdered Demetriou down that flank, if Luton had brought him on earlier I am sure you would have won that game! The little I have seen of him he looks a pacy, skilful and dangerous?
