El Abd and McNulty are not at Bury anymore. Nardiello hasn't signed a new contract yet. L.Clarke is only 29/30 isn't he? Don't see what's wrong with a couple of players over 30. I'm sure nearly every club has them.

We had a very young squad last season and I think in the end it was our undoing (signing Sam Ricketts at 33 towards the end of the season seemed to make things worse though oddly!)

I think you probably do need some old heads in the team though, as they say a blend of youth and experience.

Just the same as posters form a club really, we have some good, ie TA and then we have UTS, sorry about the latter!!
In general we do have a mix of ages. On paper (with the muted signings) we have a good looking squad. As we all know we have not yet made the signings and football isnt played on paper.
Can we afford it all, hell no.

There seems to be a general concensus amongst football fans these days that players just turn shit when they hit 31/32....

Burnley paid £200k for a 35yr old Graham Alexander who was allowed to leave by that c*** Paul Simpson, he went on to play a full season in the Premier League 2 years later.

Pretty sure David Eyres was 36 when we released him too, he clocked up 200+ games for Oldham after that.

Gillingham's Joe Martin set to sign..

If you want a serious promotion push you need better players than joe martin.

Hes at best an average player who has at many times looked way out of his depth at this level

We've given the absolute joke of a striker that is Armand Gnandulliet another year. Fuck off Saunders.

We're also chasing Bradley Garmston from west brom we had him on loan last season and looked a quality player

Very surprised at that. Good left peg, but pretty slow, defensively lacking against pretty much any League One winger of any pedigree. He was linked with Barnet a few weeks ago which is much more his level IMO.

A 1 in 6 player that's good, I see we are about to sign Whalley who has been rated as a 1 in 7 player on your Outlaws site (was that you?)

Your assessment on Whalley might be correct in the long term but when Whalley came on as sub for the last 15 mins in the game at Luton last season he murdered Demetriou down that flank, if Luton had brought him on earlier I am sure you would have won that game! The little I have seen of him he looks a pacy, skilful and dangerous?

I think the fact that he completely failed to establish himself as a first choice over a period of two years with a top Conference and then League Two club should be enough to tell you that he doesn't play like that very often. I'd say he's more like a 1 in 10 type than a 1 in 6 or 7 personally. Without exception, all of his best displays came in cameo appearances from the bench. When given a run in the starting XI, he was anonymous and always ended up back on the bench within a few games.

Had we not had the injury crisis this season, he would have been farmed out on loan again I imagine.

Incredible.

Can't wait to see him again next season heading it 30 yards away from a teammate (when he actually occasionally wins a header), missing open goals from 6 yards and generally strolling around the pitch looking like he's not quite sure what he's supposed to be doing.

Buzzing.

We don't have any left backs and we only have something like seven senior players in a squad of 14. I also don't think we're going for a serious promotion push this season, Harris has said the focus is the youth.

I've heard many criticisms of Hanson but him being ageing is a new one.

It's not even relevant with him as he's got no pace to lose.

And no doubt having blinders against us in both games, looking like he belongs in the premier league.

Step backwards if Hanson went to Millwall. Smaller club on a downward spiral. Can't see it happening though.

Kallum Higginbottom and Nathaniel Mendez Laing linked with the Brewers.
I had a lot of time for Kallum Higginbotham in his spell at Dale. Talented, but tended to drift out of games, albeit more through inexperience than lack of effort IMHO.

I've seen enough of Kallum Higginbottom to say I would like him at the Pirelli stadium, he's the kind of player I think Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and David Oldfield will get the best out of.
