Quite pleased with the Alessandra signing. Fits in our wage structure, and we certainly needed a few forwards. That's two now, with Donal McDermott and Alessandra joining Ian Henderson and super Calvin. A mixture of players that was missing for most of last year.

I know its only early days but being a Crewe fan is so boring during the summer, we next to nothing every year, then realise how rubbish we are and scramble around the scraps that are left before the window closes.

Same here mate, 10 miles up the road! All quiet on the western front!

I expected JFH to have better taste in players than NML.

Good luck with him. Waste of space.

Must admit I was very surprised, I know his reputation, I believe the fact he has only been offered a one year deal may be a reflection of that. Its make or break time for NML. If he can knuckle down to some hard graft JFH may be able to make something of him, I'm not sure to be honest so will wait and see.
Possibly. He said a load of shit last summer about realising it was his last chance and needing to buck up his ideas etc then he pissed it up the wall again.

I'd find it remarkable if anyone in the Football League took a chance. He's just not worth it.
That would be the conclusion that most of us reached during his brief spell at the Abbey at the end of last season - occasionally showed his speed and ability to roast defences, then rubbish cross or no end product. As a result, no contract offer. Burton can do better.

Radio Stoke seem to think Pope will sign for Bury later today.

Rumours of a 3 year contract as well, fair play to him for that, don't think we would have ever offered him that.

Rumours that John Welsh and Scott Laird are joining a Yorkshire-based, League One side after rejecting 1-year deals with PNE.

Bury offering Clarke & Pope 3yr deals, probably taking home around 8k p/wk combined minimum.

Mental.

Got to say fair play to Popey getting a three year deal with his injuries mounting and in his 30s he's got the best for his family. Goes with blessing.

I thought Welsh could have possibly made the step up, and he's actually been a very good holding midfielder everytime I've seen him play for you this year.

Good addition for whoever gets him.

The Pope rumour comes from BBC local radio. If Radio Stoke are as thick as their Mancunian colleagues, this means Bury are after the goalie Pope...

My favourite current Preston player and probably our player of the season from January onwards.

The role he plays is much more difficult at Championship level though, would be sad to see him go regardless.

He hasn't signed as yet, I'm not convinced either in him, would need a big change in attitude and application by NML in my opinion to force his way into match day squad.
We have been linked to a few Dutch players and interestingly we have a training camp break and a couple of friendlies over there pre-season.

Tom Pope confirmed to Bury, 3 year deal. Thanks for the memories Tom, especially in our promotion season when he was class. The time is probably right now, he's not the same player he was then. 3 year deal too?

Bye bye Pope, career only going one way due to age and injuries but a great player in his time, why oh why not sell him for 150k in January when Barnsley offered it? gone for nowt to a team who even had to give up the home end to accommodate us the other year. Speaks volumes for where we are and worse than losing Pope is the horrific news that Adam Yates has signed.

Fuck sake. We never defend well vs Tom Pope and Leon Clarke seems to absolutely abuse our defence everytime we play against him. With our recent bogey record vs Bury that's 6 points to them and 6 for Southend already next season. Frustrating.

Grant McCann has now officially retired.

Easily the best centre mid I've seen play for us. That left foot was wonderful.

Christian Ribeiro off to Swindon according to our local paper.

Great player and our POTY. If he goes, we wish him well and he's more than good enough to do well in L1.

Welsh was good february onwards but anonymous before that.

I'd keep him but apparently him and Laird have only been offered one year contracts

Ex-City, but was also shocking for us.

May have found his level although, he was with us in the Championship.

I think shocking is a tad harsh?!

He was young, and made of glass when he was with us, injured all the time. I think the potential was there.

We're apparently looking at these two according to our local rag;

Martyn Woolford - released by Millwall. Leeds tried to sign him in Jan - so this would indicate that he may be wanting a move back up north....and who could blame him.

Joel Grant - released by Yeovil. I only vaguely remember him from his days at Crewe.

We're close to signing Tony 'Versatile' McMahon.

Officials have confirmed that next season's playing budget will be increased by at least £800k - which would indicate it will be around £3.5m.

Enough to get you promoted?

It's nothing compared with the budget you had when you were down here, but it certainly gives us a real chance.

Obviously, a lot depends on who we sign, but we need to be looking at the play-offs at a minimum.
