Our lot got restless as well but Cowley rarely does early signings, it'll all come together at last minute. He won't compromise on what he wants and would rather use an existing player than bring someone in for the sake of it and off the back of that, he rarely made bad signings here (the one he did, he binned off after a month and sent him back to his parent club).

I can't vouch for his Huddersfield time but I certainly wouldn't pin too many hopes on his loan signings becoming key players because he generally viewed them as squad fillers here, bar Tyler Walker and Joe Morrell who were starters. We had a decent CB in Scott Wharton who was unlucky with the strength we had in that area, which meant he didn't play as much as he deserved but unless the likes of gijsbert_bos, Davidimp, Guernica etc can think of anyone else, they're the only three that spring to mind as being really good loan signings.
Allsop in 17/18 came in when he lost faith in Farman and Vickers was injured, Wharton was a during his first spell in 17/18 but like you said wasn't the following season.
McCartan was a regular during his loan in 18/19.

Thank god we have managed to get rid of that waste of space Ehmer
More than happy to have him back to be honest, sometimes a move just doesn’t work out I guess. The way it played out in public between him and Barton was a bit ugly though.

Along with Ben Reeves arriving earlier we’ve re-signed Max Ehmer
Think Reeves is a good player we simply did not get the best out of. Don’t think he fitted our style of play, but I think there is a player there.

Yes I agree Barton shouldn't have made it public, although Ehmer was useless under all three managers before suddenly having a shoulder injury when Barton came in. Strangely he actually looked decent going forward but pretty much every game he got turned inside out, and for a captain (voted in by the players?) showed absolutely no fight or urgency.

We've signed Macaulay Gillesphey from Brisbane Roar in Australia on a 2 year contract so that's our defence sorted.

A random Birmingham fan on twitter has said we’ve agreed a season loan for Odin Bailey. Would be very pleased with that if true.

We've signed Owen Evans from Wigan - goalkeeper who we had on loan for the second half of the 19/20 season.

Was brilliant for us in the 13 games he played for us before, and I'm much happier we've signed him rather than going back for Joshua Griffiths.

It'll be interesting to see if he can find his previous form at Gills.

He was absolutely woeful, one of the worst defenders I have ever seen. And I don't say that lightly.

Slow, can't jump, can't head, can't turn, can't pass - honestly he was just woeful. No doubt he'd have been on a fair wack as well.

Good move all round.

It’s an interesting one isn’t it, you guys sure didn’t like him but most of our fans were disappointed when he left.

Im not sure maybe it’s because we played him alongside a youngster (Tucker) who is tipped to go on to much better things, and that he needed a more experienced head next to him. (And conversely Tucker could do the running for Ehmer).

I don’t know, maybe their partnership here just worked.

Well ironically we had him next to Kilgour, our young CB who’s being scouted by Bournemouth etc.

if he’d at least tried I’d wish him well, but he was so lazy I can’t even wish him luck. I’m sure it was a one off season for him, it would be odd for someone at his age to just drop off the edge of the world all of a sudden, especially for a CB

Most clubs at this level will have the odd player on £3-4K a week so £5.5k for a club of the size of Pompey or Charlton would not seem unreasonable.
I would imagine Ipswich will pay more this season.

Even we’ve got Danny Mayor on 6k a week. Probably takes up half our wage budget though! :bg:

3 starting players maybe, but I’d like 2 more and for Ollie Tomlinson to go out on loan.

Gillesphey is an interesting one, seems highly rated down under and he did win POTY for Brisbane Roar. Having watched a little bit of A League before, it seems like the gulf in standard in squads is massive, for example you have players like Craig Noone who could probably play at this level and then you have players who’d struggle in the National League South.

I read a post on Twitter by an aussie saying the league has lost one of its best defenders, so hopefully he can bring that form over to England, we’ll see.

A week after Eastbourne Borough posted it, we've finally announced the signing of Argentine goalkeeper Franco Ravizzoli.
He has decent pedigree coming from River Plate's academy and trained with us after Laurie Walker went out on loan so will know the team already. Seems like a decent third choice option to me.

Looks like we are signing Joel Dixon today after all as Gilks number 2. Surprised he’s given up first team football to be back up for a season unless he’s been promised progression into the team.

Could be a nice pay rise helping soften the blow as our left back Josh Ruffels did the same thing.

Yeah you are probably right. He won’t have been on a lot at Barrow in their first season after promotion to be fair but they did offer him a new deal… no idea what their budget is this season though.

We’re interested in Sam Vokes apparently. Can’t see it happening but we’re being linked with some big signings this summer!

Tom Clarke to Fleetwood, wonder if Grayson will try and reunite him with Paul Huntington.

DD how does that work in terms of getting a Visa? I thought the conditions are stringent. Not having a pop, just interested, especially as presumably the same rules apply to all EU players now.

Lewis moult signs for us.
Interested to hear opinions from Preston fans if he is any good.
Most injury prone player we've ever had and we've had a few. I'd actually be surprised if he avoids early retirement based on the injuries he's suffered here. Obviously hope that's not the case and he gets a bit of luck.

Before that, he was decent. Strong, good touch, nice link up and good movement in the box, classic poacher.

His goals to minutes ratio was actually very good for us. Pretty much 1 in every 2 games.

Well liked behind the scenes too which always helps.

Will be keeping an eye on him.

Kyle knoyle signs for donny. Absolutely gutted he’s left and to another team in same lge and it’s a bit of a kick in the balls but he’s been absolutely terrific signing for us, will always be thought of well here.

Gutted Knoyle has gone and very surprised it's to Doncaster. By that I am not putting them down but I was expecting him to go to the Championship or a London based club in this league.

Donny love taking our right backs but he is a lockdown legend and will get a standing ovation from me when Donny come to the abbey. Look after him.

I assume Wellens had a big role to play there.

Yeah he mentioned Wellens played a big part in him chosing Doncaster. I think MK Dons were in for him amongst a host of other clubs.

A big loss for us but I thought that when Donny took Halliday off us so hopefully we can replace him fairly quickly.

Great signing for Donny, he'd been linked with QPR the last month or so and that felt like the right level, so they've got a coup here.
