DD how does that work in terms of getting a Visa? I thought the conditions are stringent. Not having a pop, just interested, especially as presumably the same rules apply to all EU players now.
I genuinely don't know but he's Argentine so the EU rules wouldn't apply right? He's also only 23 and has lived here for at least a year and a half being at Eastbourne Borough but I don't know if that would have had any major affect.

Me neither, but I assume that EU rules no longer apply, so whatever applies for non EU players presumably applies to all players now. Could limit recruitment for many clubs at our level. I thought it was a poets system based on international appearances and the like. maybe someone who does know can enlighten me.

Non-UK players are basically out of bounds now for clubs League One and below. It’s been a bit of a talking point at Notts because of our ownership model giving us access to loads of data on players abroad. Even at Championship level it’s tough - I think the majority of the Brentford team that won promotion wouldn’t have been allowed to sign under the new rules.

If this lad has been playing for Eastbourne for eighteen months, he presumably has some kind of settled status in the UK.

I like the idea of a poet's system

Does sound strange but then was it Ritchie’s decision given what has gone off at Swindon
God knows what happens with Power in charge. I’m pretty sure Wellens was critical of either his defensive or attacking abilities. Can’t remember which. Most fans were disappointed to lose him to a club, at the time, way down the pecking order. Maybe Wellens signing Rob Hunt swayed him.

Lincs Echo reporting Championship interest in Jorge Grant who has a clause which allows him a move if they meet the buy out fee. With the echo reporting it, I am presuming something is not far off. I'd expect one of the L1 promoted sides will get him. Will be a huge blow as he was fantastic last season and has come on leaps and bounds and is pretty much irreplaceable for a club like us.

Yep, a blow but everyone has their price. Hopefully his recent contract extension will prove to be very beneficial to the club when the financial package is worked out (should he leave).

We're being linked with Callum Morton - how was he last season Lincoln fans?
Was very excited to sign him after seeing how well he performed for the Cobblers at the back end of the previous season. However we didn’t get the best out of him because of how we play and the formation MA chooses. I dare say if we had a target man alongside him (like Oliver) Morton would have fared a hell of a lot better.

Having a terrible shoulder injury for many months also really hampered his spell here so he struggled to make an impact towards the end of the season.

Everyone does have their price but from memory we've not always got that price through buy out clauses although by there very nature players wouldn't have signed contracts without the clauses favorable to them. Gareth McAuley (or was is McCombe) gives me shivers, Raggett also went under market value.

The club is a far different beast on and off the pitch these days compared to before when losing our better players for next to nothing was always happening.

Difficult one to judge.

He joined us really, really late in pre-season because of Northampton's late finish, then started getting some game time (1 start and 3 sub appearance maybe) before injuring himself in the gym and was out for 6 months or so. No sooner had he come back, Hopper got injured, which meant he was our only fit striker and had to play as a lone, back to goal, target-man type role which isn't his strength.

Bit of a disaster of a loan spell really but no through anyone's fault, just plain bad luck. We'd have seen a different Morton if he was fit for the season and able to play wide of a front three running at goal.

No surprise on Grant a) getting interest or b) having a release clause.

Thankfully the release clause only covers Championship teams so we'll not come up against him next season. Fair play to him as well because he could have sat his contract out but signed a new deal to basically ensure we got something for him.

McCombe to Bristol City I think, £5k? I can remember Keith Alexander explaining the thinking behind that and basically he was leaving eventually but by putting that really low clause in, McCombe gave the Club his word that he would stay one more season.

Let's hope Grant fares better than the other release clause crew - Raggett, Woodyard and Waterfall all left for six-figures and probably haven't justified the money spent on them at the time (Raggett went too high, too quickly though).

Agreed but to me he's worth 7 figures and I'd guess Jorge's agent wouldn't have agreed to that, I'm sure Forest have a big sell on clause too. I wonder if Max Sanders will be his replacement although when featured it's been in the Bridcutt role.

Sanders has come in with a very decent reputation from the Brighton fans so he could well be a Grant replacement. We didn’t really see what he had to offer but a full pre season and hopefully we will get the best out of Max. Even if Sanders isn’t the guy to replace Jorge, I reckon the club have been good at recruitment since MA took over.

We've turned down a £1.4m+ bid for centre back Rob Atkinson from Bristol City. We want over £2m plus add ons according to Sky.

Thanks for that. I was a tad underwhelmed as he sounded very inconsistent.

I see we've been linked with Delaney as well. What's your view on him?
If you don't plan on playing out from the back then he could be alright for you, he did try improving his playing out from the back but it's just not in his nature. No nonsense, massive, will head a brick, gives 100% & has a lot of EFL games for a cente back of 25 YO. The cons I seen with him is that he can lose his man from a corner when he should be marking tight & that tricky attackers can lure him out wide where Delaney is uncomfortable then do him for pace on the outside. I wasn't dissapointed to see him go but I do think he might be a solid defender for you lot if you plan on playing the same way as last season.

Looks like we are signing Clark Robertson who was released from Rotherham. Was a beast at Blackpool, but had a few injuries at Rotherham. Fingers crossed one of many through the door

Grant wasn't anywhere near fit when he returned and virtually anonymous in the final, he was fantastic prior to his bizarre injury at Plymouth.
We're in a stronger position to recruit these days than we probably ever have been.
No one is irreplaceable especially with our use of the loan market.
Hearing we're close to a signing.

Lirik Hasani has signed a new 12 month contract with a view to another 12 months and Liam Ravenhill has signed his first pro contract of 2 years with an option of a 3rd. Nice to see two of our youngsters coming through and being offered deals.
We are close to announcing our 4th signing, expected to be an experienced left back.

Signed Kayne Ramsay from Southampton on a season long loan deal. Don't know much about him but think he featured for them at least once in the PL last season?

Also according to the news down here we are "hopeful" at signing Damien Bazunu on loan from Man City. Played alot for Rochdale on loan last season. Ball playing GK who's played for Rep of Ireland a few times at only 19. Not sure about loaning young GKs as i'd much prefer an experienced head in goal.

From the little I've read, he sounds very promising. Saints fans all rate him and were expecting him to be playing minutes in the Premier league next season. He's started two Premier league games for Southampton so it looks a very decent signing.

I suspect he’ll go for slightly less, maybe £750k+ and that’ll need a lot of add ons. No way is he going for £200k though.
Had a 2nd bid turned down. Nearer to 400k I think so far

Only managed 61 games in 3 years and 28 of those were in the first season.

He's a good player when fit and can play left back when required and do a good job.
I understand why we didn't offer him new terms but I was quite sorry to see him go.
He's one of those players that you know would be really good if only he could stay fit.
Unfortunately he just starts playing well and then injury strikes again.
239 games in 11 seasons as a Pro tells you pretty much what the expect from him.

The word here was he was going back home to Scotland, so I am surprised he is going so far south.
