Class act was Parkin, had the ability to play in the Prem in his prime if he could be bothered with the conditioning side of the game.
The last time Jon got a mention in the National Press [and on 'Have I Got News for You'] was when a local press photographer took a shot of him outside Greggs wolfing a meat pastie. It was when Dale Vince had gone public that FGR was now Vegan. Bad PR for the club but Jon did not give two hoots. The fans loved this cheeky fella.

Jon is still lauded at TNL. He once scored from the half way line but claimed he had scored better goals.
I listened to his blogs and he was more than extremely proud that when with PNE he scored a hat-trick against Leeds United [at Elland Road I believe]
He signed for FGR in the Conference when the club was known as moneybags. He said they offered him more money than others in the Football League.

When pne won summat like 7 4
Aye, 6-4, came back from 4-1 down on a Tuesday night. They hated him after that.

He nearly signed for us, only way to stop him scoring past us

Chey Dunkley linked.

Not sure how I feel about that, quite fancied him a few years back when he was at Wigan but we already have Ryan Inniss who spends most of his time in the treatment room.

I expected much more when we got him, and far too chippy on twatter

Yeah not overly excited, a signing I would have liked to have seen 3 or 4 years ago, not so much now.

Might not be so bad if we can make sure he and Inniss are injured at separate times.

Best of luck to Gerald Sithole who has signed for Bolton, promising youngster who we let go. I’d far rather we’d have kept him than going with unproven strikers in the loan market (who he was better than).

Think we might come to regret that one.

think he may regret coming to us. Just got our B team going again. We have signed 6/7 players around the 19/20 age group who we have signed specifically for our B team. If one or two of those get near the bench this season bar the pizza cup they will have done well. The lad would have been better staying at yours and playing first team football

We let him go, so he didn’t have a choice of staying with us. As I say though, he has plenty of potential (and he will have known he was signing for your B team).

Losing Cadden to Vale would be a huge loss, not sure everyone appreciates how hard it is to find top quality left wing backs at this level. That’s before you take out the amount of goal involvements he’s had in the past couple of seasons. His form dipped slightly like most of our team in the run in but overall he’s a superb player quite rightly in league 2 team of the year. 6 goals and 13 assists in 44 league 2 games last season is some going. In total 10 goals and 22 assists over the two seasons he’s been here, and that’s despite being injured for a number of games in 20/21.
With numbers like that, you wonder why he'd end up with Vale?

Malik Wilks deal getting closer, fee of £200k apparently
Bargain, that?!

So it seems the Unofficial Vale Twitter account (reliable?) is strongly hinting at them signing a Scottish player. Whether that’s Cadden or not remains to be seen, hopefully it’s Steven Fletcher or someone else.

It’s had a bit of a mixed record down the years with rumours. I doubt we’d get Cadden as great as it’d be. The thought of signing Fletcher on the other hand leaves me cold. Doesn’t seem to fill a need for us and to be honest he’s too old now for what he’d likely be asking for.

I like Dunks but when with us he did have a 50p head at times.

Looks like we're paying off Tom Bayliss so he can join a L1 side, useless that lad. Paid £1.2m for the fucker as well.

Matthew Olosunde supposedly attracting interest too.

Whatever happened to him? Remember his being absolutely superb when Coventry beat us at our place 4/5 years ago!
He did his ACL a week or two after that game then came back and did it again I think.

Connor Ripley meant to be joining Morecambe after we released him.

A contender for one of the worst PNE keepers in living memory but always seems to do well at L1 & 2 level.

So I see Opi Edwards is on trial at Cheltenham. Rob Edwards first signing as manager but barely made the bench for us last season, seems to have pace but not a lot else. Went on loan to Torquay but didn’t feature much for them either.
