Nixon and their local journos ( and now ours) are saying it’s a done deal.
Yes seen all the links.....Good luck with him and you.....Not writing this lad off from Palace/Cheltenham but neither will get us promoted...........Need a established goal scorer even if its big money on a six month contract

He also didn't blatantly back kick a player in the chest during a league match, with all the cameras showing he clearly meant it, and got away with it AND the England manager (Bobby Robson), pretending it didn't happen

Robson wasn't England boss at that point, looks 97 ish so Hoddle

Hirst was better than Shearer in every single department bar the one that counted. Hirst never knuckled down and loved a beer....

So Hurst was better than Shearer at Penalties....Shots from outside the area....Headers.....Strength......link up play
Goals per game.......yes just the one

We have a permanent forward and loan left-sided central defender coming in this week - no idea on names though.
It seems that it's Will Goodwin from Stoke - he who scored the 95th minute equaliser for Torquay against Derby in the cup.

Yes Hirst was better but threw it away. Don't suppose you saw much of him as you were fucking shit at his peak.

Now back in your corner and let the adults talk.

I'll post what I posted on another forum and leave you to pick the bones out of it:

"When I said he was our second best forward, it was kind of a backhanded compliment. Our best forward is so far ahead of him that its not even a close run thing.

He can look outstanding, and all of his goals this season (all 5 of them) have been crackers. Even his goal against Shrewsbury was a lovely dink over the keeper rather than a simple tap-in. However, his goal against Shrewsbury last week was his first since September. He labours on the ball when there are people in miles of space for him to pass to. He runs into dead ends rather than making simple passes. He's not very good at heading the ball. He's petulant, to the point that all of his bookings (5) have been for arguing with officials rather than tackles. If a ball isn't inch perfect then he will spend more time berating the passer than bothering to chase the ball - or close down a defender bringing the ball out. He paddies over the littlest thing - our only penalty this season he had a complete meltdown over because he couldn't take it. This despite our nominated penalty taker being on the pitch.

Other than all of that - he's great."

Think he is going to get his eyes opened Monday Morning.....Facilities and Stadium matching St Marys
We have had players who dont put a shift in but talent carried them forward..ie Anelka, Diouf, Okocha and Worthington........Not fit to lace any of the above players so he will either change his attitude or he will be looking for another club come Summer.......Take May all day every day better than anyone we currently have.

Very true and like Cahill was a blade
Cahill is Wednesday
Kevs dad is an Owl but he "followed" United though his career stopped him watching em. He played Sunday league for my local pub when he was making a name for himself at 16 for Chesterfield

I remember David Hirst and he was a very good striker who unfortunately got injuries at the wrong time (and was replaced by Paul Warhurat up top to brilliant effect). He was an excellent striker but I don’t think there’s been a top flight striker in my lifetime better than pre 97 Alan Shearer. He was simply unplayable.

Warhurst had one run of form. I hate that c*** so much.

Hirsty and Warhurst had a scrap, big Ron had a rule if players fell out they had 5 minutes in the physio room and fight it out....

Pre injuries Hirst was incredible. Ferguson was desperate to get him to United. But whilst being a great player I don’t think he reached what he could have been. At his best he could have been a 50-100 cap England player but don’t think he reached the level of consistency when the injuries started. Would have been interesting to see how many he’d have scored at a club like United. On his day he was some player.

Fergie tried so hard to sign him, I've been to a hirstys bar and he admits Francis refusing to sell him was his regret.

Rumour was we got 3m plus Hughes, Francis put a bid in for Shearer

I stand by what I said, David Hirst cost David Hirst.

I was lucky enough to do my work experience at Wednesday in 95, got to kick a ball around with Hirst Shez and Waddle.

We absolutely have been. Getting relegated to the 4th tier for the first time in our history during the late 80s, losing in a playoff to Aldershot was without a doubt the lowest of the low in our history.

We’d gone from a top tier side with 40-50k crowds to the the fourth tier in front of 5k in 10 years. Not many teams had such a calamitous fall from grace.

Only took 7 years for us to bounce back to the Premiership and make a Coca Cola Cup Final though after that.

Never boring watching Bolton.

Nathan Broadhead to be confirmed today most likely. £1,500,000. Not sure how it's structured though.

1.5m wow. You’ve spent nearly 4m on transfer fees this season then haven’t you? Davis, Harness and Camara? Plus loan fees. Have to be going up this season.

To put that into perspective, our record signing is still £50k, so Ipswich will be spending around £1,450,000 more than our record signing (which was nearly 20 years ago now, by the way).

And our fans have the audacity to moan about not signing better known players.

NOTE: This is not a dig at Ipswich, they can spend what they like - merely showing the difference between clubs in the same division
