1.5m wow. You’ve spent nearly 4m on transfer fees this season then haven’t you? Davis, Harness and Camara? Plus loan fees. Have to be going up this season.

Yes, although we've also received £2-2.5 million this season from sales / sell ons. It helps that we now come close to a sell out every match which is a marked increase on last season, so I'm not too concerned about overspending yet, although I would like us to get rid of a few players and expect us to do so.

Oh yeah it’s not a criticism by any means mate. If it’s within budget then fair enough. Spending that sort of money does come with added pressure but it’s a good signing. We are no where near being able to spend that again yet.

To put that into perspective, our record signing is still £50k, so Ipswich will be spending around £1,450,000 more than our record signing (which was nearly 20 years ago now, by the way).

And our fans have the audacity to moan about not signing better known players.

NOTE: This is not a dig at Ipswich, they can spend what they like - merely showing the difference between clubs in the same division
I know we have a much bigger budget than a lot in this division but that blows us out of the water as well. We are no where near being able to spend that sort of money again yet. A few hundred grand here and there and some sell ons/bonuses is where we are at - which i accept is still much more than your record fee!

Yeah I think our CEO is under a lot of pressure. Our owners will expect that we get promoted and not accept any less I think. Even though we've scored a lot of goals this season, they've been spread across the team and our strikers have not been good at finishing. As an example, we had 54 shots against Lincoln over 2 games and only scored 1. I'm hoping these strikers know how to find the net as we create so many chances.

Although you haven't got the budget, you've still made some good signings this past year or 2 for sure!

Ours is £200k for Steve Claridge in October 1992. In fairness, we were second tier at the time. I don’t recall us breaking six figure since, in fact I don’t remember us paying many fees at all.

Per the Beeb in the Newcastle game our squad cost us 1.8m

We've spent 75k I believe on Bakinson this season.

We seem reticent to pay fees but use it for wages

Ours was Paolo Di Canio for nearly 20 year but is now Jordan Rhodes.

We are in a similar boat of not taking chances. Maybe not to the same extent as you over Lincoln but we are crying out for a goalscorer. We played so well on Saturday but just couldn’t get the goal to finish it off. It’s happened too often this season.

We've apparently just beat you to Bonne on wages

Ours is Johan Elmander at 8.2m with Anelka at 8m. Elmander didn’t quite pan out but I loved him and think if he’d played under Allardyce he’d have been incredible. First he had Megson then Coyle stuck him on the right wing to accommodate Daniel Sturridge.

Bonkers money at this level and have to be promoted this season spending that sort of figures, best side we've played this season by a mile so should now have the means to secure that you'd think.

That said whoever comes third of the runaway 3 is nailed on to bottle the play offs as so often happens (we wont talk about 1993!)

Our record is half a million for Super Gareth Ainsworth from Lincoln... sold him 12 months later for £2 Million (our record sale) one example of the great wheeler dealer that John Rudge was.

Remember Blackburn lobbing 7.5m at Kev Davies.....

Ffs. We wanted him in the summer as well.

If you're worried about missing chances, then you shouldn't be too concerned about missing out on Bonne. I've never seen a player miss so many golden opportunities. Although for a few months he was on fire. Think he scored something like 1 in his last 27 games or something crazy for us.

Saying this, he will now go and score a hatful.

We may be the best you've played but when teams shut up shop against us, we just can't seem to score! So frustrating. Hopefully these 2 new strikers will allow us to mix things up a bit.

Blades did that in 2012 when we nabbed 2nd off em in the last 2 weeks.

They had 90 points and missed out, it took 6 seasons for em.

That was when they had the Jack Walker money wasn’t it? Tbf he’d have been worth that if he’d done what he did for us… for them. But we got him on a free. Blackburn turned down the chance to sign Zidane for £1m citing that they didn’t need him because they already had Tim Sherwood. They haven’t made great decisions over the years

It will be the same this season, you wait. You'll beat us to 2nd and we will lose in the play-offs.

Didn’t Trevor Francis deny there was a trial in the end? And it was just training? We’ve had Rivaldo, Denilson, (worlds most expensive player at one time), Julio Baptista and a few other ludicrous names train with us. We missed out on a few big names during the allardyce era. Samuel Etoo was done for 3m from Mallorca then chairman pulled the plug. (Before he went to Barce). We had a bid accepted for Vidic too a year before he went to united. Oh what could have been!

Edit - we thought we’d signed Rivaldo too (during Djorkaeff/Okocha years) - he accepted the deal… it was faxed over and then he rocked up at Olympiacos. He actually said later on he regretted turning us down in the end because he’d have loved to play in the prem

Francis claims he had Eric with us training as a favour to Platini....

We had Schmeichel over with Brondby in 89ish and put 8 past em so we left it.

Us and you passed up Owen Hargreaves.

Pleat bottled signing Shevchenko for 4m and spunked 3m on fucking Andy Booth.

They rejected Dugarry at the same time as Zidane as well if I remember correctly.

They also missed out on Lewandowski as well because of the Icelandic Volcano cloud that grounded planes in 2010.

Matt Jay to Col U confirmed for an undisclosed fee. Probably the right move for both parties and will do very well there.

Tractor Boys, this is not meant as a wind up, but how will you handle Ladapo? I assume he will go down the pecking order. He does rather have some previous here in terms of his response, and the negative effect on the dressing room, when faced with such adversity.

I have no idea, to be honest. McKenna has managed to get everyone in and around the squad singing in harmony but with Hirst and Broadhead it's going to be interesting. We also have Gassan Ahadme who cannot get in our squad; though he hasn't been given much chance. I think he will be loaned out though.

Good signing be interesting to see who McKenna plays, Chaplin, Aluko, Hirst, Broadhead, Ladapo...

Chappers and Aluko will play behind the lead striker, so it's Hirst, Broadhead and Ladapo competing, with Ahadme going out on loan for me.

Hirst snr had some bad luck at your place, torn though muscle in a cup tie, missed a pen another time.
