Seems the club have lost faith in McGee, he’s not been at his best this season, fans have got on his back a bit and there were rumours he fell out with Burchnall a few weeks ago. Pretty likely he’ll leave either this window or in the summer. I would imagine Doohan is coming in to take over as no.1 in the near future.

The feedback from Tranmere fans hasn’t been great but it seems Ross is a talented keeper that’s had a knock to his confidence. Hopefully he can find his form for us.

What does 'unregistered' entail? Can't play for the rest of the season? free agent if he wants? demoted to reserves etc?

They remain with the club, they just cannot play for the rest of the season. Neither are likely to be fit until April, anyway.

Is it true that it is doubled if you get promoted?

Not heard this personally.

In the biggest transfer news so far this window, we’ve recalled Josh Coley from his loan at Harrogate.

There’s a player in there but he’s not really showed it yet. Ok for the bench.

Twitter rumours we’ve had a bid accepted from Tranmere for their left back Bristow. Would be an ideal fit I think, young lots of potential, similar to Sammy Robinson by the sounds of it to take over from Worrall and Benning in the future if we can pull it off. (If true)

A rumour on OVF we are also in for Hoskins from Northampton but doesn’t seem the right type of signing we’d go for being 30 and not much resale value as imagine they’d want a sizeable fee.

Bonkers money at this level and have to be promoted this season spending that sort of figures, best side we've played this season by a mile so should now have the means to secure that you'd think.

That said whoever comes third of the runaway 3 is nailed on to bottle the play offs as so often happens (we wont talk about 1993!)

Our record is half a million for Super Gareth Ainsworth from Lincoln... sold him 12 months later for £2 Million (our record sale) one example of the great wheeler dealer that John Rudge was.
WALKING INTO AINSWORTH WONDERLAAAAND!

Not sure who our record fee is now, most are undisclosed aren't they. It was £75k for Tony Battersby in 1998, but I suspect John Akinde in 2018 was around £100k.

He was different gravy to be fair... oddly he is doing a Gareth Ainsworth night at Vale in a couple of weeks the night before we host Wycombe (when in Rome and all that!)

It was a shame he left when he did, well, left full stop really, but we had Darren Huckerby coming through our youth system around that time so those two on the wings would have been interesting!

Kennedy seemed to indicate last night that they'll be news on transfers today.

Charles Vernam to Grimsby seems to be gathering momentum.

We were the other way round, John McCarthy left as we signed and Steve Guppy a few months before so to have him with one of those would have been pretty special (although luckily we got to enjoy those two together).

Rumours that both Walsall & Tranmere have agreed a fee for Jamille Matt. Unfortunately given the way things have gone recently it would be no surprise if he left.

Looked a shadow of the player NYD that he was previously, all be it Smith loves battling with him in recent meetings! Quality in L2 though.

Yeah I mean we played you 3 days after he'd had a run in with some of our fans after the Burton game, and was then dropped from the starting line up. To go from title winning captain to leaving like this in the space of 6 or 7 months is a bit of a shame tbh, but that's football.

He's definitely not the only one of last seasons squad that has either looked a shadow of themselves or just not up to league 1 this season tbf.

You may end up worse off for getting promoted as strange as that sounds

Its a tricky one, some players you expect to step up don't and ones you are unsure on do, Hall and Conlon with us for example struggled a bit whereas Dan Jones who he replaced in the team when he signed has generally been very good in L1!

Charles is a strange one. He's a little older and felt a weird move in the summer. Whilst he's shown glimpses of promise, I don't think he's up to the pace of League 1.

Assuming he won't be going anywhere until we get a replacement as very thin on the ground out wide.

You’re probably not wrong tbh, since getting promoted we’ve lost our manager, assistant, DoF, several other staff and some of our best players. Most of the ones that stayed look like they won’t be here much longer either. In the meantime we’ve signed 21 new players (and counting) but a lot of them aren’t exactly pulling up trees either, and at least 3 of those have already been and gone. If we go down we’ll be back to square one in League 2 with a totally different squad to the one we went up with, and a pretty toxic mood around the club to boot.

As I posted over the road:

Class defender is Mattie - will head absolutely everything. Not got the most pace, and worked better in a 3 than as part of a 4. It's saying something though when I wouldn't want him back because we already have better.

Can't really disagree with any of that...sadly...there seemed to be a mixture of hope and expectation before the season started but that has largely evaporated. There now appears to be a sense of not having learned anything from our first season in the Football League when we hadn't strengthened the team that got us promoted and were pretty much dross until Christmas. We then managed to improve the squad and had enough, but only just, to stay up. This season will be far harder, even though we aren't quite cut adrift, and I see it as being pretty much four from the bottom six to go down...unless someone above goes into freefall or the League find a club to punish with points deductions for some minor discretion or other.

Our keeper's been recalled by WBA out of the blue (he played in the pizza cup last night).

No senior replacement on our books other than a 20 year old we picked up from Spurs in the summer.

We do have high earning loans that would benefit us if they returned to their parent clubs (Pigott, Koroma and Scarlett) but we'll be stuck with them for the whole term the way this season is playing out.

looks like Dapo is a goer to St Pauli in the German second division
Just over 500k talked about.......Would keep him, but he simply struggles to get in the shape Evatt plays.

First half of last season he was on fire playing on the left. At which point it would have taken millions for us to sell. But a change of shape and he just isn’t as effective when not on the left. We’ve tried him up front, in behind and even left wing back and whilst he’s produced great moments… he just isn’t quite the same. 530k is what the German newspaper is reporting but heard is it’s actually more than that and closer to 750k. Would be gutted to see him go but feel we could strengthen the team with 2/3 players for that money and ones that actually fit the system we now play.

Hold on - that's not the £30m Masi mentioned here:

Dapo unplayable....Ipswich r/b Vincent Young Booked then got no where near Dapo as he made it 1-1
A few mins later Young fouls Dapo.... givesa penalty away should of been off....................Cook drags him off a minute later.
Replacement not fearing much better as made it 2 goals and a assist in 45 mins......

Lge 1 first £30m player

Josh Koroma gone now too. Didn't see that coming, but pleased as it just hasn't worked out for him. Seems we're having a clear out. Presumably our new managerial appointment can't be far away with all this squad reshuffling going on.

Haha. When he was playing on the left he was brilliant. But we switched to the 5 at the back and 2 strikers a few months after that and he wasn’t the same. I wouldn’t have taken less than 2/3 mill back then but in reality we aren’t getting the best out of him anymore due to change in system. Will still be gutted to see him go.

Some rumours Luke McGee could be off. I wonder if a return to Portsmouth could be on the cards, or will they aim higher?

With five keepers at the club, if you include the one who won't actually cross over the Irish Sea until next summer, I think it is fair to expect either McGee or Thomas to be deemed surplus to requirements...the two younger keepers must surely be considered as development projects. Luke was immense last season, at least for the first two thirds of it, but has struggled a bit of late so I wouldn't be surprised if he departs and we retain the services of Thomas...at least until the summer when I think his contract expires.
