We have Joshua Kayode on loan from Rotherham. Who?

Wiki calls him a striker but he's scored something like 15 goals in 4 seasons. It strikes me as a panic loan to get cover until Eisa is back.

Someone please tell me he's the next Harry Kane and I'll feel a bit better about it. :gr:

And Scully was making a point of applauding everyone, he looked like someone who might have played his final game for us.
I’ve heard Sunderland are interested albeit before the manager left, also and rather unfortunately that crap up the a1, fingers crossed his dad speaks some sense into him.

Blackburn going in again for Hirst. Earlier in the summer they were linked along with ourselves and Pompey. We could probably spend more if we wanted but we still haven’t bid again since the earlier bid back in early July. Presumably we’re not going again for him which is a shame as he looks decent.

McKenna says perhaps 1 or 2 more before Thursday but only if it’s a quality signing that would improve the team. Which is nice as it seems every single year we get to the last week of the window and sign 3/4 squad players (usually on loan) who barely start a game between them. Though admittedly that was the Evans ownership era. We’re a better run club now and far more organised.

Out of ten, how would we all rate our teams summer transfer window to this stage? I’d give us an 8. Would like a Hirst type striker for us to be complete.

If he was the next Harry Kane we wouldn't be loaning him out.

What he is, is a raw young lad who had a couple of successful loan spells at Carlisle and he played a fair bit in league 1 last season but mainly as a substitute.

He is a Rep of Ireland U21 international and by all accounts he is well thought of at that level too.

He started the pre-season fixtures in the first team but sadly picked up an injury.
He now finds himself behind Washington, Ogbene, Eaves and Kelly so it makes sense for him to go out on loan.

He has played alongside Will Grigg so that's a bonus for you.
I hope he does well for you, he's a nice grounded lad.

Being honest, I'm surprised he hasn't gone before now. A very good player.
Scored in 5 successive games against you guys, remarkable record.
August to October last season he was excellent, then he got injured and wasn't quite the same, maybe because he's been wanting away dunno.

I just assumed he'd score the other week and of course he did.

A 4.

Just over a day to change things, we are desperate for that elusive striker too.

We’re after Sam Cosgrove from Birmingham. 6ft 4 striker which is exactly we need, to give us a different option in attack. But I remember fans from teams he’s played for posting on here saying he’s shite

Seems a weird one for me unless we're sending Jephcott on loan somewhere, which I wouldn't be against.

I can only make that assumption too, especially as he is not in the pizza cup squad tonight. Would he be a good replacement for Cole Stockton at Morecambe if he goes? I rather suspect he is only a guaranteed starter at a league two side, and he really needs a team that plays two up front.

What happened to him? He was scoring for fun not so long ago
Just hasn’t really got going this season. We have changed our formation to a 3-4-2-1 instead of a 3-1-4-2 and Schumacher prefers Ryan Hardie and Niall Ennis over Jephcott for the striker role.

He’s been tried in the number 10 role behind the striker but unfortunately it just didn’t work. He’ll score goals in the right system and I suspect it will only be a loan move away from HP, but with us also interested in a target man, it would suggest Schumacher wants something different.

Charlie Kendall, who we signed from Eastbourne in the NLS in January and loaned back to them, has gone to Sutton for the season. The right thing to do IMO, it's no good him getting the odd sub appearance here, he needs to be out and playing.

Not sure whether he's been loaned out off the back of Diamond signing because it's not exactly a like for like, or whether that means we're close to signing someone else.

Probably a 6 for us so far. Still glaring weaknesses (lack of pace through the side, no depth in CM, no experienced DM to settle things down when it's manic (the Fleetwood game being a prime example where we lost control of the midfield)).

We've done well with Rushworth from Brighton who looks an upgrade on Griffiths.

Griffiths and Diamond are upgrades on Adelakun and Maguire.

O'Connor is the kind of head and kick it CB we could have done with at times last season but the lack of any proper pace in the backline doesn't help any of our defenders.

Well with our injury problems we certainly could do with him, for some reason signing Connor Wickham hasn't helped on that front.

He's worse than shite. To save time posting again, I'll copy and paste some of my posts from January 31st to Wimbledon fans.

"Cosgrove off to AFC Wimbledon.
You poor, poor, poor buggers. Abysmal doesn’t even come close to describing him."

"Mainly down to his attitude. Not only does he think he’s far too good for this level (he really isn’t), he offered out a few Salop fans at the end of the game away at Accrington at the start of the season. Fans have been against him ever since.

Considering he’s a big lad, he can’t win a header if it meant his life depended on it, can’t hold the ball up, can’t shoot. To be honest with you, since watching Salop back in 2003, I’d put him in our top 3 worst loan players that we’ve bought in.

I know that certain players work at certain clubs, that’s always been the way in football. But with Cosgrove and Pyke, I’d bet my mortgage that they’ll be just as shit at both Wimbledon & Scunthorpe."

How the bloke keeps getting professional football contracts is baffling. Worrying thing is, put a random supporter his age up top and they would genuinely do a better job. Surprised a play off chasing team like Plymouth want him as you won't be threatening with that donkey.

I think I'd put our recruitment at 9 out of 10 this summer. We had big gaps to fill with an ok budget and Cowley has done an excellent job filling them.

He's put together a decent forward three from scratch, with two quality loanees and using the Harness money wisely on Colby Bishop.

Marlon Pack on a free has been excellent. It's unusual to find a quality midfield general at this level. We used the pull of his home town club to land him when he could have easily earned more elsewhere.

Tom Lowery also on a free looks quality. Owen Dale on loan has given us a decent Harness replacement on the right.

Michael Morrison and Joe Rafferty have bolstered the defence and loanee Josh Griffiths is a solid replacement for Bazunu in goal.

It's close to a 10 but I've left wiggle room for some late transfer activity.

Apparently Fleetwood have pulled out of the Stockton deal to focus elsewhere and we've gone in at 150k plus add ons, Shrewsbury have said they wont go that high (according to Alan Nixon).

You just know if we sign him he’ll score against you lot

I’ll give him a chance, he wouldn’t start anyway as Ennis and Hardie are both scoring.

Another name being put on our forum is Christian Doidge

The latest rumour is that Jeffers might be a makeweight in a deal, which might put Stockton or Doidge into the frame.

I'm told that we're still in for Adam Phillips and Cole Stockton. Stockton wants to join but Morecambe are wanting more money and I think we're trying to call their bluff.

Other rumours are us and Lincoln are after Matty Virtue on loan from Blackpool and Ipswich have pulled out of signing Macauley Bonne and it's between us and Bolton.

Hoping for atleast two of these as we're so short on numbers it's laughable.

It’s a good question, asking us for a rating out of 10 for the transfer window business.

For us, I’d say it’s really hard to assess it right now. We’ve signed a load of dev squad players, which is fine - by their very nature they are probably on peanuts and are going to be a hopeful punt, so that’s fine. So let’s go First XI signing by signing:

Alfie Mawson (CB): 8/10 - proven quality BUT dire injury record (he wouldn’t have come back to us if it weren’t for this though, so…).

D’Mani Mellor (FW): 6/10 - definitely got some skillz (and you wouldn’t last that long in the Manyoo academy if you didn’t). But he doesn’t look like the finished product - which is fine, he’s early 20s so still got time to learn. But the jury’s still out so far.

Max Stryjek (GK): 7/10 - Looks solid in the couple of games he’s played for us so far, but he’s got some big boots to fill as David Stockdale was very popular here.

So we just haven’t signed many full-fledged first teamers, and I suspect we’ll fall short of a play-off push as things stand. Cover at CB and up front is lacking.

So 6 out of 10 for our business, could go up considerably in retrospect if Mawson doesn’t get badly broken, and the other two unknown quantities pan out.

I'd take that to be fair, I've always liked the look of Jephcott. I can't see us budging on our asking price whatever it is though.
