Well with salford it’s a pretty easy one - if there’s 2 areas in the country you don’t basically start a new club it’s london and manchester
As such even success will see attendances stunted and it’s hard to see them ever having a fan base over 3,000 (which in itself is still a massive increase from where they were) whereas if you’ve sides like mansfield/grimsby for example there is always the potential for reasonable fan growth given there isn’t any huge club in your own backyard, especially now both have proper owners. Lincoln are another example of that.
I’ve always wondered why the neville’s never took over bury instead, would’ve made a lot more sense to me.
