I don't think it'll happen. I've not known my club to be in a slump like this in all my time supporting them. I'd say we've got a fanbase small enough for a division between fans to not be physically possible - but we've managed it. Everything's a mess.

You mustn't sell him in January.

I remember us being 23rd the season we went down (I know you've experienced it before) and we sold Richie Barker, who was basically keeping us above water, the minute we sold him to the then promoted Hartlepool (ironically) it was curtains for us.

We sold Richie Barker 18 months before we were relegated.

So, out of those in the top 7 presently, who do you think is likely to drop out to allow those outside the 7 to sneak in?

I know Accrington would be most people’s choice to falter - I don’t know what their back up players are like if they get injuries/suspensions. I still have a feeling Colchester will be up there.

0-0 draws and 0-1 losses aren't enough to get top 7 so unless we figure out how to score goals and win vs all the rest of the teams not in the top 3/bottom 2 I can't see us maintaining our position in the playoffs.

Us with our amount of injuries with 3 being out for months not just weeks.

This club is a complete shambles and needs new staff the whole way through (except for Dave Moore and maybe 5 players).

Aye, another weird one. Could've just had a word with Matt Dean on the quiet if they really had an issue. Matt's always come across as quiet reliable though and you'd imagine his comment about the move being blocked are closer to the truth than not given the struggle Hurst had with backroom staff.

PR has never been a strong point of Grimsby, though. Not sure whether it's a Fenty thing or there's someone else in the background who deals with it.

As far as I know Dale Ladson puts out the statements. He's a nice enough guy but he just does as Fenty tells him to and never challenges him.

Our club is an utter embarrassment at the minute, koko the clown would do a better PR job.

Our recent PR statements are indeed an embarrassment, in fact they are nearly as embarrassing as FGR's Chairman saying promotion to League 1 would be easy before losing pretty much every game in League 2 for the following 2 months. :brill:

Why are Grimsby Town FC getting so bent out of shape over a report that a former player is joining the coaching staff, whether true or not it's hardly Watergate, or is there something about it that makes it controversial?

I see Danny Rose isn't in the Mansfield squad today. Is he okay?

He's serving a 1 game suspension for picking up 5 yellow cards. Should be back in the starting XI at Port Vale on Tuesday evening.

According to the Crawley forum, angry scenes at full time when Kewell went over to the away end to try and placate the fans...on borrowed time? We can’t usually keep a clean sheet for shit...

We're really lacking up front which is going to leave us short this season. Not too bad up until the final third but we lack any ideas or creativity to break a defence down. Deadline day signings Hanlan, Kabamba and Odelusi are not up to it and Mandron has improved but lacks any support around him.

Really frustrating afternoon today.

How many latish (80 mins plus) goals have Barnet conceded now? Seems like an awful lot. Really thought they'd be up there during preseason, and their very convincing 3-1 win (could easily have been 6-1) over us merely reinforced my opinion.

Would help if they spent the previous 80 minutes actually trying to win the game.

Timewasting, negative, hoofball merchants got exactly what they deserved.

Yeah considering you look at their squad and it’s full of attacking talent why they are so negative is bizarre!

Some decent attackers there yet parked the bus and took about 30 seconds over every goal kick

Just noticed, all the teams in the top half of the table have positive goal difference. Interesting as over the last few seasons it's become the norm for only the top 6 or so to have positive goal difference.

Mansfield won 1-0 yesterday and played quite well vs. Stevenage.

We had a few chances to make 2 or 3-0 but overall I don't think 1-0 reflected the game too badly. We had more than Stevenage but they did well to stay in the game and rally in the second half.

I thought Mellis and MacDonald were our two best players. Although fairly weak in the tackle, in possession Mellis is excellent. He has good dribbling and passing skills and mentally he seems to be a level higher. MacDonald is a battering ram. He's very strong and determined, so he gets into good positions when he is running and is effective.

We are now unbeaten in 8 and appear to finally have found a little consistency. That said, Port Vale will be tough on Tuesday night given their upturn in form and then we have Chesterfield at home which the Spireites will be up for. It wouldn't surprise if we got 1-3 points from the next two but we should really be aiming for at least 4.
