We’ve had our game on Boxing day moved to half 12 on police advice. Bad enough having to drag myself down from 2 mile away with a stinking hangover so feel for the Grimbo lot. They’ve not moved any of our KOs for a few fixtures now so not sure why this is needed
Brilliant. That's me not going to that then. Ah well.

Yeah absolutely, we would've sold it out I'm sure but now you could probably slash 50% off the away following. That said we took a fair few to Swindon on a midweek a few weeks ago so you never know.
Yeah, that was a good turnout tbf

Bizarre decision to move our game at Mansfield to an early kick off, I’ve been there 3 times and I’ve never seen any trouble whatsoever.
They've seen we've just scored 10 goals in 2 games and know that it's more likely to be frozen off if its early. Absolutely classic Mansfield antics going on here.

It’s ridiculous they just put ‘police instruction’ with no further detail, this will cost the club ticket sales I imagine.

I’m sure the Gabbitas Gate between the home and away end will be shut about a week beforehand, and a week after too!

Yep it's such an infuriating and shit cop out explanation. I've tried emailing SAGs before about this and they don't have anything further to say, it's absolute bollocks.

Good to know it's not just us being messed about by the police. Mansfield vs Grimsby isn't exactly a high risk fixture but the bizzies will come up with a crock of shite and do anything for a few extra quid...

Although, bizarrely, there were a couple last year lower down the pyramid. I remember Braintree kicking off at 3pm on the Thursday I think it was, despite the fact it was a ordinary working day.
Braintree were probably playing twice per day due to their insane fixture congestion.

Would have been one of our better away turn outs that.

There’s about 40 coppers on that pic

Only time I’ve known it to kick off between our lot and Grimsby was when they beat us 3 nil at BP back when Evans was our manager!

Don’t know what trains are like on Boxing Day but it’s probably been done to try and deter a few Grimsby fans from travelling. Not good for the average away followings league supporters

No trains normally run on Boxing Day these days

Our game against Bradford on 23/12 has been brought forward to Friday night of 22 probably because it’s the last Saturday before Xmas, good grief I would have thought the average footy fan would have been gagging for an excuse to get away for a few hours, sorry Bradford fans totally shite decision
Our away game at Derby was changed from 23rd to 22nd, and then Derbyshire Police remembered it's the last working day before Xmas and changed it to Thursday 21st!

But county and doncaster is still a 3pm kick off, and as magpie will readily tell you, they’ll be more there for that game, it would’ve made more sense for that game to be moved.

Given there’s little history of any bother it’s a crap decision, and it’s usually always mansfield that get dicked around.

However, there are 2 SAGs in play here, Mansfield are covered under Nottinghamshire SAG, as is forest and Notts county cricket club, whereas county are covered under Notts city council (or whatever it’s called)

However , given Forest are away (which they’d have to be as to not play a home game the same day as county) it’s even more bizarre

I'm happy with the decision and yes there will be considerably more at Meadow Lane than Field Mill and even less chance of trouble.

Yep same, it's always us that gets dicked around. The most laughable part of this decision for me was that Notts were kicking off at Crewe days before. Doesn't suit the police/media agenda though, does it? Why prevent grand old Notts from going around terrifying poor linesmen when we can pick on coke snorting Grimsby and nasty Mansfield?

Yeah definitely something in to them assuming due to the names, Mansfield and Grimsby automatically assumed trouble but Notts County at the nice and quiet Meadow Lane a different story.

It could be names, could be past behaviour, reputation or perhaps it has something to do with how close to full capacity the two stadiums will be that day. Safety first.

Even with the standard much bigger crowd in attendance at marvellous Meadow Lane it won't be anywhere near as busy or packed as Mansfield's characterful little 3 sided ground which is expected to be bursting at the seams when the Grimsby massif are in town.

The ground certainly helps with the atmosphere at Field Mill which has been brilliant really this season (though strangely quiet on Saturday). Whereas it's an obscure look to have the 3 stands, I much prefer having the bigger Ian Greaves stand than 4 moderately small stands which wouldn't kick out the same noise - having this pretty much full every game allows for some great backing and will be one of the reasons we've conceded so few goals and been so successful at home.

Yet Meadow Lane is the stadium that can't house a full away end due to safety reasons (except when Mansfield are in town).

Again reputation and past records perhaps? Health and Safety must come first, and before financial gain.

Plus you were given a very generous away allocation to help boost your average away followings this season. Far more than the obscure looking Field Mill can accommodate.

But my point is that Field Mill can host football matches more safely than Meadow Lane can...

Yes it can but only lower attended football matches.
I
believe that all of the 12,950 who attended the Notts County Vs Grimsby game back in August were safe. Plus the away section had loads of empty seats so the fans could spread spread out in comfort. Added safety.

Doubt that will be the case in the smaller stand at Mansfield where I expect it to be packed to the rafters.

Apparently Meadow Lane has a higher capacity than Field Mill, are you not aware of this? :ffs:

Coming from the guy who lives on the outskirts of Manchester rather than Mansfield, in case you are not aware of this? :ffs:

Adam's lack of self awareness has incredibly dipped further with this classic. Impressive stuff.

I genuinely really like Meadow Lane, except that concourse in the away bit which is wholly inadequate, it’s a shame the home fans do not create a better atmosphere.

Got a good stadium and side so no excuses really.

Out of interest how many times have you been to games at Meadow Lane in the past 3 years? We've had some really good atmospheres down at the Lane in each of the last 4 seasons. It's always going to be harder to create an atmosphere in a oversized large stadium than one under with a capacity under 10,000.

You should really like it's a great stadium in a really good location for this lowly level and you rarely lose there.

Whereas I find Field Mill when I've visited nearly always has a good atmosphere, but even with the one big impressive stand, the overall stadium lacks real character. I have been in all three stands and its very basic truth be told especially behind the goals. Grounds developed back then and ultimately on the cheap often feel this way.

Plus we always get pumped there, which doesn't tend to help the overall experience :hb:

What even are you on about? you literally attempt to dig at mansfield at every available attempt, frequently in cringeworthy fashion, presumably focusing more on the ground due to our superior players/manager.

I can’t even recall the last time i made the comment about being in manchester -it’s not comparable at all, great attempt though, i’ll give you that. :ffs:
