Last game of a topsy turvy season for us this weekend. Started with a 6-0 win, then went shit and we lost a game 6-0, then another great run after Xmas, followed by another dip and now finishing with a a possible 5 game winning run.

There is 2 full coaches of Crewe fans making a weekend of it in Cleethorpes, so I'm guessing there will be some very drunken fans in the away end this weekend. Think we've only sold 200 odd tickets so there won't be a massive number in total, probably 300.

It would be nice to finish on a high, we've played some great football over recent weeks. Heard abit of talk of another academy 11 for this game, but I can't see it, will probably be a similar team to recent weeks.

Grimsby 1-2 Crewe (Thomas, Porter, Kirk) 4,788 (311 railwaymen)

An academy 11 would get soundly beaten as we don't have the defenders, especially if George Ray is out on his arse.

Hope it's strongest team again. 12th secured with a point, 9th place still possible, somewhere in-between likely. A win and we'd end the season with 5 wins on the bounce and the best team in the division for the second half of the season. Absolutely quality progression, interesting summer ahead.

Our reserve team at Crawley should be;

Pilling
Ridehalgh
Nelson
McNulty - probably last game
Buxton
Tollitt
Gilmour
Harris
Smith
Mullin
Dagnall

That’d probably end up on paper still better than what Crawley have, but they’ll have never played together. I’ll be very surprised if any of Monthe, Perkins, Banks, Jennings, Norwood play for sure.

If I was Tranmere boss I would not be playing my strongest team either but, and like Demi Rose it's a big but, I believe you have to have a certain number of players from your last game in the side. Besides some players prefer to play.

I expect a bit of a clear out this summer as we are not good enough, how we will pay for it is another matter altogether. 12 times this season we have let in three or more goals... Well it will be 12 after Saturday.

Safe journey down.

Thought there was a regulation which prevents us fielding such a weakened team and grateful to Casey who seems to confirm. There are only 3 starters left from the Bury game in your line-up.

Personally I'd keep Davies, Monthe, Jennings and Norwood under wraps for this one. Perkins might benefit from some match time, but I'd start him on the bench. Banks blows hot and cold and has not reached the same heights as his early season form, so would rather play him than the other four.

It’ll be the same as the checkatrade. 6 involved in matchday squad.

Buxton and Mullin came on while Dagnall, Pilling and McNulty were on the bench, so we’d be fine from that point of view.

We need someone who can get on the end of things, are goalscoring is a weird one, as we've struggled to find the net the longer the season has gone on.
He’s not on silly wages at Walsall, £2500 per week plus a 70k signing on fee. Only went there as he thought he’d get an easier ride than under Mellon who is a taskmaster. Fell out with the Walsall fans despite being their best player and scoring 18 goals in 39 starts for them. No brainer signing for anyone that uses a target man in league one.

I think Perkins will get at least sixty minutes. He will be lacking match fitness and we need him sharp for the play off games.

Bury on Saturday away, somehow beat these in November, hopefully they've had a good sesh since last night and we beat them but not overly arsed either way, just glad its all over and can enjoy weekends again for three months or so.

1 point more than last season which afterwards vowed the club should never allow happen again... they did. huge summer ahead, if we finish 21st which is possible if Cambridge win then we will actually beat last year as our worst ever league finish. Considering we've been around since 1876 that makes the last two seasons pretty bloody shit!
They went on the piss in Noblot:woot:

I’m hoping that we rest most of our first team v Crewe and save them for our first pre season friendly away at Cleethorpes Town.

Disgusting way to treat them. Same up and down the country.
Punch up at a footy match, 3 year ban, possible prison. ( not condoning it ).

Punch up in a pub in a town centre on a Friday night out, glass somebody, 750 quid fine and a slap on the wrist.

Football fans always have and always will be treated like lepers.

I can't remember any trouble during or around the 2015-16 season game so i'm not sure what they are referring to. The only thing that happened was Jabo Ibhere's despicable clothesline tackle so he's the only one who should have been arrested.

So does that include not stopping at the pub just off Junction 25 of the motorway? Seems somewhat harsh that given it's still miles from the ground.

If I were them i'd carry on the extra mile and go into Dorset.

Colchester for us tomorrow. A game they have to win, which should make it a decent spectacle for a change at home this season. They were apparently a little too enthusiastic with their celebrations back in October, which seems to have been remembered this end.

We've also got a period of remembrance for Bill Stacey and Jim West with the Bradford Fire anniversary coming up.

EDIT - And of course, we have a trophy to lift.

Artell given a 1 match touchline ban for his sending off and some unspecified changing room shenanigans at Swindon after a FA hearing on Tuesday. Seems (by literally protesting he isn't smug) Artell is pretty smug that is all it is.

The referee who Artell probably called a corrupt c***, Lee Collins, hasn't refereed a game since and isn't down to referee this weekend. Sacked in the morning.

Thing is, the most egregious decision was the offside call, which wasn't on Collins. The penalty on Ng, I've seen worse given. It's not a penalty I don't think, but I wouldn't go mental over it. He just should have evened it up with Porter's later on, but even that was a bit of a dive.

Don't get me wrong, I'd back Artell over this. The missed offside was the game changer, that gets called correctly, we go 3-0 up and it's probably game over. They don't get the penalty and nobody gets in trouble. I'd take the 1 match ban for making my case and seemingly getting Collins pulled from the rest of the schedule.

Anyway, tomorrow. I want a point at least. Finish 5 unbeaten, with more wins than losses, a positive goal difference, top half guaranteed. Name the strongest team you can and go for it.

2-0 and we should have had a pen too.

Tranmere not giving it their all but they are all over the place at the back.

Norwood giving it a good go up front though.

We’ve absolutely battered Bury and should be 4 or 5-1 up but we pay for missed chances with a long range effort from that.

Frustrating but if we were clinical we’d be out of sight in this.
