I live out in the sticks too mate, between chepstow and monmouth on the banks of the river wye just a stones throw from the real deliverance country..... The forest of dean.
Had a job helping a bloke with some hedge-laying out that way as a youth, nice work in lovely country and decent pubs after you'd worked up a thirst. Also an old abandoned church with an amazing carved rood screen, not many of them left as they often got smashed in the reformation.

No, it was a little abandoned parish church tucked away between two villages, the bloke I was working for made a special detour as he knew I'd done a bit of carpentry and would want to see it

My wife's from the Forest of Dean - means I have to visit it every couple of weeks or so.

Genuinely the strangest place in the World.

Forest of Dean, an area between and betwixt.
Between and betwixt Wales & England but separated from England by River Severn.
So officially part of Gloucestershire but on Welsh side of the Severn.

My mate from Cheltenham , a passionate Cheltenham Town FC season ticket holder, married a Dean girl and moved there. He started a cider making business and borrowed for its name the name of a local legendary 'Stanley Unwin' type word-smith.
So well worth buying a bottle of JOLTER cider and reading some Jolterisms, such as:

During the war, Jolter and his friends were looking at a searchlight. “Bet you couldn’t climb up the light, Jolter.”

“Course I could.”

“Why dussent thee then?”

“Ah, old Jolter ain’t daft, by the time I was ‘alfway up’n some bugger ‘ould dowse’n.”

JOLTER cider is also a very decent drink. :2thumb:

We will have 900 fans in. Tickets are free and will be dished out to ST holders by ballot as we have 1,100. Would seem the Welsh Govt is preventing us using the terraces for some reason.

It will be like going back to the early 70s when 900 would be a decent gate for us.

A little before my time mate but 900 would be considered a bumper crowd during the wilderness years in non-league.

I have been at plenty of games where the home attendance was around that number, or less, our three games earlier in the season felt like a trip back to the Conference...even if the football was a bit better.

Our attendance will be limited to around 1100, which seems sensible given the issues around getting people safely in and out. The ground is terraced on three sides, if you don't include the bus stop stand, and we seem to manage that pretty well for our test games.

I have been to the new lawn on a few occasions mate! and 1100 seems about right for the size of the stadium, but RP has double the capacity of the NL and we could easily get 2000+ in and out safely but the cock wavers in the welsh gov't think we are children who can't look after our own safety.

What's your average home crowd? About 1,800? Remember when we played at yours 19/20 we had about 1k in a crowd of about 2,800 ish.

The last couple of seasons, pre-Covid, the average has been around 2700-2800...think the ground capacity is around 5000, which would feel a bit claustrophobic. Some games we get around 4000, against the likes of Exeter, Cheltenham and Swindon, but it can be a bit below 2000 for a wet Tuesday evening in February...a lot of our fans are either kids or pensioners, they are probably at home tucked up in bed with a mug of cocoa, or doing their homework, and attending a footy match isn't top of their priorities!

Ridiculous that they're not letting more in at RP than at the New Lawn. It's so much larger and less cramped, I'm sure there's be no problem allowing all the season ticket holders in, at least, quite safely.

I think the social distancing regulations in Wales are a bit stricter now than in England, so I presume that is one of the stated reasons.

Only once had a gate of less than 1000 for a League game, 988 v Peterborough April 1988. Lowest apart from that 1009, last game of 1969-70 season

WOW!! that is impressive.
Apparently it can be moved to the new ground the club is planning eventually. Hopefully it will be done for august and we can actually enjoy it.

Would it be available to away fans?

I would imagine so because they are allowed in the current one, with exceptions for those with less sociable types following them obviously.
