It was all to do with the downtime IMO, and what made it worse was that the forum was accessible to some but not to others. For ex, I would've run the prediction league again like I did for three years but I was having trouble logging on here at the time. And when I could log in, that was only through a VPN, and that wasn't something I was prepared to do. I mean seriously, a VPN just to access a footy forum?

I have just seen that Charles Breakspear will be in charge today :ffs:

Good luck Newport and FGR, I think you're going to need it.

It has been raining for much of the day across the West Country and South Wales, bearing in mind the condition of the pitch at Rodney Parade when we played them in the League, I would be more worried about losing players with trench foot than a slightly dodgy ref!

FFS. Surely the EFL should be allocating good refs for these games.

Matt, Sweeney & Cadden make surprised returns, all three on the bench tonight, Shocked!, hopefully not a game or two off the pace.

Yeah big surprise especially as Ball said they weren’t likely to make it. Can’t see Matt or Sweeney being close to match fit, but Cadden should be fitter as he’s not been out long.

Surprised to see Richardson start instead of Davison, could well be used in a front 3.

Looks like we’re playing Mansfield again in the play-offs.

Forgot Scotty Wagstaff was at Forest Green, the little legend.

Bit daft from Bernard to pick up a booking in that sort of area of the pitch.

Newport playing at a decent tempo I think.

Don't wanna risk anyone semi-fit on that pitch, in these conditions (for all that the pitch itself is much better than the last time we were here)....at home on Sunday, though....

Thinking (even more than previously) that our selling Shep to Newport was a mistake....

Is FGR's Bernard definitely pronounced like he's French?

What the hell was that free kick about just before half time?

Get the ball in the box for crying out loud.

Would definitely say Newport been good value for the lead at half-time. Some really good pressing from them.

Yep, typical of us. We like to fanny about in key areas. Common sense says with seconds left you’ve got to get it in there.

To be fair to Newport, the two goals they’ve scored this evening have been excellent. The first one was brilliant but the second isn’t much far off it.

How is Sheehan not playing at a higher level? He’s run this game

Should it stay 2-0 Forest Green will undoubtedly be disappointed with their performance but given some of the chances Newport have missed, they'll be thinking an early goal in the second leg can change everything.

FGR should really be thankful it's only 2-0 they trail by as Newport could easily have put this tie to bed already.

Very impressive from Newport tonight. Fancied them at the start of the playoffs and even more now.

Newport much better side. We’re a mid table quality team that have happened to find ourselves in the playoffs. Maybe an early goal Sunday might change things a bit, we’re lucky to still be in with a chance.

2-0 loss not unsurmountable hill to climb.
Newport favourites for Wembley but they do have had some bad defeats at TNL.

Their record at TNL is very good, the bad defeats to us are normally at Rodney Parade. I don’t actually think Newport have ever lost at TNL, certainly not in a league game. Which doesn’t bode well for us.

We can’t play much worse though. Early goal and you never know.
